JS on the hump--$799

Um, should I jump on this deal? We sailed on the Liberty last March and looking into the same ship for next year. Loved it SO much. I could pay $699 for a D-1 on the hump (port side) or $799 on the hump for JS starboard side. I think I prefer the port side but give me pros and cons of the starboard side!

I would jump at a JS regardless of where it is, especially at that price.

No, it's a 5 night western to Cozumel and Belize.

We were in a starboard side cabin (E-1) for that itinerary last November, and it was hotter than Hades on the balcony almost every day as we always seemed to be on the sunny side, whether in port or at sea. But I would take the JS anyway.:)

I would book the JS regardless of side or hump. That is an amazing price.

Hi OP...

Three things about port vs starboard come to mind

sailing from FLL out of PE to Belize...done it several times.

1. On Liberty OTS, the aft port elevators are the only ones

that go up to deck 14 (Viking Lounge)...not a deal breaker.

2. Leaving Port Everglades the Web Cams all scan the port

side of all the ships leaving. If you want your relatives to

see you on your balcony while sailing out of PE..get a port

side balcony and drape some kind of colorful banner on your railing...

Some folks with iphones actually watch themselves leave port

on the Web Cams. OPTION...just go to top deck, port side, and stand

at rail as you go through the inlet.

3. The first sea day you cruise along the Island of Cuba as you

head to Belize. If your balcony is on sunny port side you see the

tall mountains of Cuba in the distance...personally I enjoy that scenery.

If your balcony is starboard, you see water and sky that day from a

shadier balcony. Again OPTION...walk around top decks if you choose

starboard.

Of course the JS is nice...so the above may not matter at all.

If so...disregard this post.

Lucky you...my favorite ship...LOS. Have fun!

That's a wonderful price! Five night cruises can cost almost as much as a 7 night cruise. And prices are strange. I think our five night cruise in an inside actually was only $20 per person more than the four night out of Galveston. Also, double credit depending on your C and A status.

We heard March is bug season, so take along the repellant.

Belize is wonderful, but the bars on all the windows made us a little nervous. We took the open carriage ride, and loved the horse portion. The motor portion came w/o seatbelts. But I did get some great shots from the carriage. Need tips to enter St. John (?), the oldest church in Central America. Personally, if we see it again, I may stay outside and get more shots of the exterior. There's a beautiful old tree in front.

March may be spring break, but at least a Junior Suite lets you hide from the kids if you wish.
