Dream out of nola

Hello,

We never taken a cruise "out" of NOLA and have a few questions:

I realize the ship has to travel out to the ocean and go down the Mississippi River, I heard this takes hours, when does the casino open after the ship leaves the dock/how long?

Do they do the muster drill inside or outside?

Does anybody know the name of the current band playing?

I heard they are going to once a day stateroom room service, but I am going to ask for both as I keep a very tidy room and just want clean towels and the beds made up, has anybody experienced their cabin stewards asking when they want clean up service or do they just do both am and pm?

I heard the comedy shows are not highly on some ships does anybody know whether the Dream has nightly comedy shows?

Thank you!

We were on the Dream out of NOLA in March 2017 and had a fabulous time. They had several comedy shows most every night. I'm not sure if they were every single night though. Most every comedian was hilarious. Our steward asked us if we wanted morning service, pm, or both and we opted for both. The muster drill was held inside, so it was quick and comfy! Yes, you are in the channel for a very long time, but it is pretty cool to watch. I remember still being in the Mississippi River during dinner.

I can't answer the question about the casino or the current band.

Enjoy! We had a blast!

The Black Jack band was on last June but I assume that has most likely changed by now.

I don't remember exactly what time the casino opened but if I recall it wasn't too long after leaving. You will have cell service up until about 11pm

I was just on the Dream last week.

I realize the ship has to travel out to the ocean and go down the Mississippi River, I heard this takes hours, when does the casino open after the ship leaves the dock/how long? The Casino was open just after we sailed.

Do they do the muster drill inside or outside? Inside

Does anybody know the name of the current band playing? There were a few bands on ship, A violin group callec Sky Breeze, A 70's-80's cover band called Jacuzzi of Love and the Mothership Trio, Country Music with BlackJack, Guitar solos by Bradley Edge.

I heard they are going to once a day stateroom room service, but I am going to ask for both as I keep a very tidy room and just want clean towels and the beds made up, has anybody experienced their cabin stewards asking when they want clean up service or do they just do both am and pm? I did get asked and I did say both, but I was not getting both, so I spoke to him and he said he just had too many rooms, so I agreed to just evening with extra towels.

I heard the comedy shows are not highly on some ships does anybody know whether the Dream has nightly comedy shows? We had a Comedy show every night and most nights two shows.

Haven't been on the Dream in a while, but they had once a day service Victory. We chose morning. The steward chose evening. No big deal to us.

They had twice a day service, you chose once a day.

I should have added this about the bands. The bands change often on ships, so there might be a different band on your sailing. The Dream is very large and has several bands: there is the typical Caribbean band on the Lido deck, a band in the atrium, a band on Deck 5 across from the Taste Bar and Martini Bar, a band that plays for some of the shows, etc. You will not lack for entertainment on the Dream.

It takes approximately 8 hours to get to the mouth of the Mississippi. The casino was open after dinner if I remember correctly. Do try to stay up and watch the Dream pass the Triumph near the mouth of the river! When we were on the Dream it was about 10:30pm.

I was on the dream last month. The band by the Alchemy bar was good but I don't remember their name. Our cruise was the first out of dry dock and I heard the band had just started their contract that week so would be on for 6 months. I have no idea if this is accurate but it was one of the bartenders in the Alchemy bar that told me this.

If you like piano bars and if Patrick is still there when you sail, he was great. He got really raunchy late at night though so if bad language and just general raunchiness offends you, go early when he is still doing the PG show.

I didn't notice when the casino opened or go to comedy shows.

Our cabin steward said we could have once a day or twice a day service. I told her we wanted AM full service but just ice at night. She insisted then that we would get full service twice a day, which we got most days. I think there were a couple of nights she didn't do everything but that was fine with us.

Since gambling is legal in LA, the casinos open in the river. Remember that for a while only riverboats were allowed gambling. Was not on the Dream but took the NOrwegian Dawn out of NOLA. Coolest thing I saw was passing the Dream at the mouth of the Mississippi on our way back in. Couldn't be more than 70 feet apart.

Well actually no, we weren't given that choice. I specifically asked and the steward said no. He then proceeded to show up sometimes in the morning most times in the evening but never both. As I don't recall you sailing in our cabin, I don't believe you are in a position to contradict my experience. But thanks for your input.

I would make sure I receive twice daily....if I don't, I will go and mention it to the front desk and have them leave a message to the Chief Steward or contact him myself. I do not need turn down service for the bedding, I expect the bathrooms to be tidy up and given clean towels both in am and pm...there is no way I am going to use used towels when I am on vacation. I keep a very tidy room and the cabin steward doesn't have very much to do anyways. I am very clean at home and I expect the same when I am on a cruise.

That was the one I was afraid was on the ship, thank you. Does she play in Ocean Plaza?

I don't know if we are talking about the same woman or not. I did just find out the name of the band is "Jacuzzi of Love" and yes, they played in the Ocean Plaza.

Did you happen to catch if there was a place to book your next cruise onboard? I'm just wondering if the Dream still has this.

Thanks!

There was a future cruise desk last week and they still had the "up to $200 obc" offer if you booked while on ship.

Wow what was his name?

We are boarding this Saturday. I have read a few mixed review about the dream post dry dock lately and seems like stewards doing twice a day is hit or miss

HeidiHo THANK YOU, were they more than a 2/3 piece band, did they have a drummer?

.

I "think" so but to be honest, while we enjoyed their music, we were usually sitting at the Alchemy Bar with our backs to the band. I wasn't paying that much attention. The Alchemy Bar bartenders were very entertaining too. LOL
