Fall break? When did your daughter start school? Kids in this area went back to school after summer break on September 4th.

 

What hotel are you staying in?

 

School for us starts the first week of August. We are in the Hilton Marina on 17th St.

Royal has rolled out an update for the app. It is supposed to let you guest-to-guest chat (text) for free...Let me know if it really works...thanks...;)

 

 

 

I updated a couple of days ago and there’s a new “BETA” chat bubble in the top right corner of the Royal Caribbean app. I really hope it’s working when we’re on the ship!

Following along. Loving the review so far. We board the Allure on the 30th when you come back. Staying at the Hilton Marina pre-cruise as well. Booked a room so we could see the ships. We live in ATL too. Take 400 down to the airport as well. We are not on Fall Break next week. Fulton Co. does not have that :(

If you can ask them for a room on the southeast corner. You get a view of the port and the intercoastal. I was told to call the day of and lock in the room. I did just that and had no issues. I originally requested the 14th floor but it was taken. One floor down ain't too shabby. I truely hope your trip down 400 goes better than mine. In the end all worked out but could have done without the stress.

Good morning all. Today is boarding day. Got up early to watch the ships sail in. The Conquest began approach at 4. Now Allure is making her way into the channel. No way I'm gonna miss this. Lil bits jumped up with me but could not last. I'll wake her up once Allure has cleared the hotels.

Now back to my little story.

 

After landing, we head to baggage claim to pick up our luggage, then headed to the Uber stand. On the way over I strike up a convo with two cops about good places to eat near the hotel. More on this later.

 

This was my first time at FLL and my first time taking Uber. Confused is not even the word. I started to take a cab since they were there in droves but they wanted to charge me almost triple the Uber rate. I was thinking "yall do know the Uber stand 10 ft away is less than half your rate RIGHT???" I almost said it out loud but remembered my manners. My prediction - cabs are going the way of the dodo birds.

 

Once we actually linked up with the Uber driver things went smoothly. Now the other drivers in the Fort I can't vouch for. We saw one car stopped in the center lane of the highway, two cars make left turns from the right lane, and 2 cars hold up traffic making what I could only think were illegal lefts.

 

Upon arrival at the marina we were treated like royalty. Baggage was hands free, check in was quick and easy, and the room with a view was nice. Balcony - AWESOME! This was a total win. The little one was smiling ear to ear. Mama even made mention of the accommodations. It was at this point I knew I made the right call.

 

If this is how the other half lives count me in!

It's now a little past 4, mama's sleepy, the little one is hungry, and I am hell bent on watching the Harmony sail away.

Mama is now asleep so lil bits and I head down to the restaurant. Not seeing much I wanted a switch is flipped. Hey dummy why did you ask for recommendations if your not gonna use em!

 

They gave us two spots within walking distance of the marina. One Seafood and one Italian. The little one voted for Italian while I voted for Seafood. Guess who won??

Not bad but definitely not lasagna.

 

 

 

Not a bad meal at all.

 

We did go into the seafood spot "The Dockhouse" but it was a bit too fancy. Now I would go back with mama.

We get back and mama is still asleep. POOL TIME! Here is our oppertunity to try out that snorkeling gear we purchased.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Forgive the low quality. I forgot the gopro does not have a low light filter. Stupid Samsung set me up.

 

Side Bar - I got this app thing down to a science now.

 

We get back to the room and mama is still out. I wake her up to order some room service. Well we all feel asleep waiting on her food. So I am awoken to a faint knock at the door. I answer "right away" knowing it's the food.

 

I was all out of sorts and it showed. So much that the young lady closed the convo by saying you can go back to sleep now.

 

???? Wow was I really that far gone? Well yes you were since you could not complete a full sentence the entire time.

 

Now I'm thinking to myself "that light knock was probably more of a BANG BANG BANG followed by someone better come get this food and PAY THIS BILL!!!"

 

Not sure how I ended up paying to be honest. I just signed some papers, gave mama her food, and fell back asleep. Hey they know where I live if they need me right?

 

I did ask the young lady how long she was knocking. She smiled and said not too long [emoji50].

 

 

 

That was mama's food. Next thing I remember was waking up to see the ships sail in.

 

This concludes Day 1 of our adventures.
