Son of a son of a ... Posted January 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Yes, they flew in the necessary parts yesterday ... the CD said something about the flux capacitor drive. They will need about 12 hours at all stop to effect the repairs. All should be back to the future, as they say, tomorrow. Cheers!

triptolemus Posted January 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2017 When are the parts being installed? Thanks for your info! My understanding is that the flux capacitor cannot be installed until Marty McFly returns from 1885 with the Doc. Marty does not have the necessary skills to install it himself. Pay attention, people.

robins11 Posted January 4, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 4, 2017 Well she is currently doing 11.5 knots on the way to Singapore. Dn Star right now. Due into Singapore this evening, Wednesday, at 9pm. Averaging 11-12 kts. At Captain's Q & A yesterday the subject of the azipods came up, as you can imagine. The Chief Engineer said that specialist technicians had been aboard for the current cruise and that he expected the ongoing repairs to take a further 2 - 3 weeks. It can only be worked on while the ship is in port and preferably during the overnight stops.

They will also need lightning to strike the clock tower at midnight, it's the only way to get enough power to get the azipod up and running Again

chengkp75 Posted January 5, 2017 #24 Share Posted January 5, 2017 I am on the January 16 cruise do NCL have the Parts to fix the ship. Is 11 or 12 kts slow? Are we going to makes all the stops in Australia. Sent from my iPad using Forums As noted above, the CE says the repair is ongoing, and will take another 2 weeks or so. Even with only one azipod, the ship should be able to make 15-16 knots, they adjust the speed to what is necessary to get to the next port in time. It doesn't sound like they've locked the failed azipod from rotating, which is why they will only do the work in port, so the issue of drag from a locked propeller isn't there. As to whether you will make all your ports, without knowing the itinerary, I can't say, but if you use a ship's distance calculator like sea-distances.org, and plug in 16 knots, it will give the time to get from one port to the next, and you can compare it with the itinerary.
