primetime00 Posted September 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Last year on RCL, we used the Coke freestyle machine for soda. Princess says on the website that the soda is 'fountain soda.' Are they also using a freestyle machine, or do we still order from the bar (where they usually pour from a can?) Also, do they have Dr. Pepper on the ships? You have to go to a bar or order from bar/wait staff. Comes from the fountain gun, they don't pour from cans. Not sure about Dr Pepper.

It’s fountain soda from a bar gun...I prefer bringing cans of soda onboard because that tastes much better. “entitling you to unlimited fountain soft drinks, plus mocktails, juices, and complimentary hot chocolate throughout your cruise” No Dr. Pepper which you can bring onboard. fishywood Posted September 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Pretty sure there is an exclusive agreement between RCI and Coca Cola corp. for those freestyle machines. Never seen Dr Pepper on any Princess ship. Gun sodas included in the Soda & More: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Ginger Ale, Club Soda, Tonic Water. Root Beer, Diet Sprite, Diet Tonic water only available in cans thus not included in the Soda & More. (though intermittent reports persist that they will pour you a glass of Root Beer if you ask) Dr. Pepper is sold as a Pepsi product here in South Florida though I know it varies by region. But you are free to carry on as many of your favorite sodas or any non-alcoholic beverages as you want.
satxdiver Posted September 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2018 The free style dispenser would be of value to the DW. Luckily she does not mind the soda gun over the cans.
LeeW Posted September 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2018 When the bar gun isn't working they usually use the large 2 liter bottles. Seem to always be an old supply and quite flat.
dog Posted September 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2018 I bring cans now and purchase the bottle water. Finding some fountain drinks taste salty/fishy.
primetime00 Posted September 21, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted September 21, 2018 We will usually uber or lyft from the airport to a grocery store to get some soda and then go to the port. Last time we did this on RCL, my wife noticed the new Coke Freestyles and she was hoping that'd be a new thing on different lines as well. She is exclusively Dr. Pepper or Pibb :'):'):'):')
moki'smommy Posted September 21, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Why do people expect that competing lines will be doing the same or similar things? It is actually more likely that they will have small differences--Princess has a contract with Coca Cola, Royal Caribbean has one with Pepsi....it becomes just another point that might cause someone to prefer one line over another. famski740 Posted September 21, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Where do you see that Royal Caribbean has a contract with Pepsi. It's funny that their Freestyle machines are Coca Cola.
