CAS Cabin Comps...how determined?

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know with certainty how CAS decides on level of cabins comped...for slot play?

I have heard scenarios where some people say it is solely based on time played at machines on a cruise and that if you do a couple hours a day...the amount of losses don't matter..only time. So I guess that would be theoretical losses only.

I have heard others say if you don't end up making a fairly healthy deposit to the casino ;)..chances are you will receive a lot less in the way of an offer.

I have even heard some people say that if you were lucky enough to hit a jackpot or two..and walk out ahead..you may not get comped anything at all!

So does anyone know for sure how CAS decides on comp values?

TIA

I don't think there is anyone who knows for sure, but we can certainly speculate. I personally feel that they just want you playing and they don't care if you win or lose, because over time the house always win. I received amazing cabin comps after walking of one cruise up thousands, that's why I say this.

All I know is that on last 3 cruises...I spent MANY MANY HOURS PER DAY in the casino...and have not received any of the special casino mailings for about 3 years.

That's odd. What do you usually play? I play a mostly tables and sometimes slots when i feel like losing a little lol.

Totally on theoreticals. You need enough play (hour or two a day) to give them a basis for the theoreticals. Has nothing to do with your players club tier level.

Disagree with this. Hour or two a day playing in the casino gets you nothing.

Even if you don't get any offers via mail, you can always call the CAS department in Miami directly to see what they can offer you. We have do this for over 3 years now. We have either been comped and inside cabin (we paid a little more to upgrade to a balcony) or received 10-20% off the cabin base price up to a mini-suite.

CAS wants an actual loss of $2500 for an inside cabin. It is true that winning will bring your comp level down. My friend cruises only once a year and CAS normally gives her an OV or a balcony cabin, she got 9 Quickhits in October ($7500) and her comps dropped to an inside cabin. Her hours played/bet/time played has not changed.

She still gets all the invites for tourneys and good perk comps but now they are only Insides where the last 2 years they were at a higher level cabin.

I appreciate everyones replies...so thank you!

I do have a follow-up and related question if you don't mind.

We have booked I think 3 or 4 cruises through CAS. Like others have mentioned we don't wait (or even use) any of the mailers that occasionally come. We always just call and see what CAS will offer us. My follow up question is do you think the offers themselves might change depending upon the popularity of any particular cruise you ask about? In other words if you are asking about a cruise in high demand summer months vs. one in lower demand (fall / winter) months. Might the offer be different?

TIA

Yes..I know..but just thought it odd I no longer get mailings:confused:.

I do call CAS when I wish to book...never been comped...just discount. :o

You don’t need a mailer to get a comped room. NCL is very good about comping just about any cruise if you call the CAS reservation line.

It has to do with what the casino has to pay for the room. You would get a lesser offer on an Alaskan cruise or Canal cruise than a Caribbean cruise.

The variation from week to week on a specific cruise may affect your offer, but less so, if any.

Yes less popular sailings should get you a higher level of comp then a popular sailing.
