Port O Miami- where to stay?

First, let me say that we have cruised dozens of times out of both Miami and Ft Lauderdale...and once lived near Ft Lauderdale (in Plantation). So we have lots of mixed emotions about the issue. You are not normally going to find a Miami hotel that will give you free transfers from the airport (MIA) and also to the port. And, in many cases, we find Miami hotels (in desirable locations) to be overpriced...especially in season. We also have found that we can usually get better airlines deals into FLL because it is served by both Southwest and Jetblue. And consider that an Uber ride from Ft Lauderdale to the Port of Miami costs less than $40. Having said all this, we will often just fly into FLL, stay in Ft Lauderdale (we prefer the Embassy Suites on 17th St) and then summon an Uber X car for the transfer to the Port of Miami.

If you really must stay in Miami you might want to consider some hotels in the Kendall area. And if you come in a few days early and want an interesting experience you should look into some of the South Beach hotels.

Are you definitely driving to Miami? Looks like the several people recommending the Holiday Inn by the port missed this as they do not even offer parking while staying there (they will refer you to a public garage for a fee). Same with staying in South Beach where parking is disastrously expensive.

In Miami most hotels offering park/sleep/fly (or sail) packages are sketchy properties in sketchy areas near MIA airport. Meaning no one would stay there if not for the parking and/or the shuttle (not necessarily free) to the port. Almost none offer a return shuttle from the port so you after adding a $20-25 taxi/uber ride it might just be easier to park at the port and stay at a nearby decent hotel.

One of the few exceptions are the two Hilton properties in the Omni area a mile north of the port that share a garage and often have flat rates for leaving your car there, and a shuttle to (but again not return) the port. Check the Hilton Miami Downtown or the Doubletree Biscayne Bay.

But it may add up to the same cost to stay at one of the more reasonable properties in the Brickell area just south of Downtown Miami and just park at the port. Hampton Inn Miami Brickell and Homewood Suites Brickell are commonly recommended.

Good morning

I am wondering where to stay the night before we sail near Port O Miami? Looking for somewhere that may offer a shuttle to the port and parking while we are cruising ?

Thanks!

Near the port, plus shuttle, plus parking are not going to happen. You may find that near the airport, but anything near the port is downtown, expensive and parking is at a premium.
