Where to stay in Old San Juan?

When we were there a few weeks ago, we stayed at La Concha in the Condado area and thought it was great. There is a lot happening in that part of town and the beach is very nice.

Downtown, we stopped for a drink at El Convento, which has excellent reviews on trip advisor. We did not see the rooms, but the patio area and bar were charming. If you want to be in Old San Juan and don’t care about a beach experience, this might be a good choice.

On earlier trips, we stayed at the Doubletree in Isla Verde. It, too, has good reviews and was very pleasant with a good included breakfast, but it is not on the beach and you need a cab to get to Old San Juan.

The Problem with El Convento is That Pre/Post Cruise Dates is that it is nearly Impossible to get a room, I finaly was able to make a Reservation Post a Disney Cruise that arrived in San Juan on a Monday and it was 420.00 a night and that is a year from now..Being trying for years with no success. If you really want to stay there I would recommend a land Vacation

Good Luck

Mike

We have stayed at the El Convento and really liked the hotel and the location.

The website was wanting 2 night minimum. We were wanting 1 night for two rooms so I called the hotel and they agreed to book two rooms for one night. You might try calling direct

thanks

The Sheraton Old San Juan is a great place pre or post cruise. You can throw a rock from the hotel to the pier. Ask for a room facing the pier and you can see your ship arrive if you get up early enough.

Depends on if your ship is sailing from OSJ or the Pan American pier.

We really like staying in the Condado and/or Old San Juan areas. We are cheap and would rather spend our money on the rest of the vacations, so we avoid the resorts. In OSJ, Hotel Casablanca is our favorite and Le Consulate in Condado. There are many great hotels in both places!
