QTBabyNurse Posted October 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2009 If we wanted to bring a 24 pack of bottled water onboard, is that a problem on Princess?
Rare karatemom2 Posted October 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2009 No problem at all. But the water onboard is actually very good. However, if you prefer to bring your own you are free to do so.
satxdiver Posted October 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2009 The water on the ship is distilled so it is probably more pure than the water at home and the water in the plastic bottles. If you use any ice, it is made from the water on the ship. The bottled water is good for taking ashore when in foreign ports. I just bring a plastic sports bottle, fill it on the ship and take it ashore with me. Nice free water!
paul929207 Posted October 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2009 You can carry it on, but you are wasting your money. The ship water is purer than most water systems and most bottled water comes from public water systems.

DrivesLikeMario Posted October 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2009 No problem bringing it onboard. We do when we sail from our home ports. I can't stand the taste of the ship's water. Bleck! :p
West Coast Posted October 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2009 We put ours in a box, tape it up and attach a luggage tag. It usually get's delivered along with our other bags and boxes ;)
DrivesLikeMario Posted October 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2009 The funny thing is that about 1/2 the time, we have one bottle missing. Very funny!! I suppose some luggage handler was really thirsty. :D
cb at sea Posted October 13, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2009 The food, the ice, the tea, the coffee, the lemonade----everything is made with the ship's water....why lug a bunch? Bring a bottle or two and refill as needed.
TomCruises Posted October 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2009 If we wanted to bring a 24 pack of bottled water onboard, is that a problem on Princess? Go ahead! The water on board taste better than bottled!
Colo Cruiser Posted October 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2009 If we wanted to bring a 24 pack of bottled water onboard, is that a problem on Princess? No put a luggage tag on it and give it too the porters.
grandbanksguy Posted October 14, 2009 #12 Share Posted October 14, 2009 If we wanted to bring a 24 pack of bottled water onboard, is that a problem on Princess? The fridge might take a few bottles plus the ice bucket, so I guess the rest will go under the bed with the luggage.
happycat Bainbridge Is Posted October 14, 2009 #13 Share Posted October 14, 2009 I always take seltzer on board because it is my purr-furred beverage. Princess will not care. However, I agree that just plain bottled water would be a bit like carrying coals to Newcastle ... I have a very finicky stomach and have been sick from drinking municipal water in some major U.S. cities, but ship's water is incredibly pure and has never bothered me. If you're planning to bring bottled because of purity concerns, I can safely second the recommendation to bring a sports bottle or two instead and fill them with ship's water for shore excursions. Hope that's helpful, HCBI
veryhappy2cruz Posted October 14, 2009 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2009 I have heard the ship's water has a high salt content, thus the reason for some people swelling on the ship. Is this not true with the Princess line?
QTBabyNurse Posted October 14, 2009 Author #15 Share Posted October 14, 2009 Thanks everyone for your replies. I fully understand that the water is purified and safe in every way. It's just a matter of taste preference for hubby and I...nothing more, nothing less! :)
caribill Posted October 15, 2009 #16 Share Posted October 15, 2009 I have heard the ship's water has a high salt content, thus the reason for some people swelling on the ship. Is this not true with the Princess line? No salt in the drinking water. Can't say the same about some of the food.
m steve Posted October 15, 2009 #17 Share Posted October 15, 2009 osmosis. It's fine but my partner has me bring 24-48 bottles on board depending on the length of the cruise. It's easier than argueing.
cruzin girl Posted October 15, 2009 #18 Share Posted October 15, 2009 Never had any problems bringing bottled water onboard.
happycat Bainbridge Is Posted October 15, 2009 #19 Share Posted October 15, 2009 ... the way I feel about my seltzer (all about the taste not purity concerns) then bring on your bottled water - no reason not to - no weigh limit. We usually stop at a store in port and stock up on seltzer - sometimes we put in in luggage or if we can find a case "check" the whole thing. That way nobody gets "scratched." Cheers!
