An illustrated guide to Constellationizing the Solstice Ambience

The addition of Tuscan Grill to the "M" class ships is a welcome one. However I hope they don't redecorate the "M" class ships too much to resemble Solstice class!

In my very humble opionion and experience, Millennium and Summit have far more luxurious and elegant interiors both in public rooms and cabins than the austere Equinox.

Andy and everyone, thanks for easing my concerns. We get to try out the Equinox next Monday and hopefully we will like the ship despite her size and increased passenger load. Since the proposed rebranding changes to Azamara may well drive us away from them, we may be limited to the M class ships if we are not really comfortable with the S Class. Losing the Thal pool probably would be a deal breaker as far as the M Class goes for us.

Arno, Thanks for all of your postings.

Host Andy, When I signed up for the Elite free Internet minutes on embarkation day (Feb.14), I spoke to an high-rank officer that I never saw again. When I asked him if the Connie would be getting wifi in the cabins during the upcoming 2010 Apr-May dry-dock, he answered "Unfortunately, no." He said he pled a good case for it but didn't get his way. I hope Celebrity changes their dry-dock plans to include cabin wifi.

Hi Mike !

Thank you for your post. I asked an Officer on Connie about it in November. He said it was very expensive to do, but it was being considered. Im going to ask about it, and see if I can find out if it's in their plans. If I hear anything, I will post it here.

as long as they don't change PERRY we'll be happy cruisers!!! We just got off Feb. 28th....great 2 weeks. Did buy his DVD and CD and were disappointed in the quality of them...poor sound and filming...didn't do justice to Perry!

Arno, I can't believe I forgot to acknowledge your sharing of information this morning when I posted. Thank you for telling us all the visuals and the info and for taking the time to let us see what some of the plans are.

Hi Larry !

I realize the computer lab is still around, but my concern is that this room often has classes, and at other times, is locked. I'm fine with the computer lab being the sole location, as long as it's far more accessible than it currently is. Hopefully, Celebrity will find a way to make this location work.

I agree with Arno, that Celebrity must have more hot spots. I would take it one step further, and upgrade the M-Class ships, to have full Wi-Fi access. This will encourage many to bring their laptops. This upgrade, would greatly reduce demand for the computer lab area, and is long overdue.

For those who are about to say "why bother with the internet while on vacation" ?, some of us must be available to their business and clients, and for others.... their family members. I always make myself available to clients, even when on vacation. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Classes would be a problem, but I never found the room locked when I was on the Connie for two weeks in January. It was just down the hall from me, so very convenient. I agree, more hot spots are needed. A little speed boost wouldn't hurt either!

Hi Larry

As Parrothead1 (who is also my oldest son, John), said, what will we do without our Martini Bar:eek: They'd better think about how crowded this bar is prior to dinner and after the usual first seating. With our group we'd need the entire bar plus if they make this a smallere venue.

I do like the idea of the Tuscan Grill and Bistro on 5 since my kids (again Parrothead1) were on Solstice and loved the Bistro. It would give us more options.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait until next March on Connie to see what they finally come up with.

I do agree about loosing the Conservatory. Although it's "pretty" it's such a wasted space. The hole in the floor, well I guess they won't need it in a restaurant.

All in all it should be very interesting to see what they come up with.

I know you guys are leaving for your cruise soon. Have a wonderful time. We head for the Mercury on the 29th so we can compare notes when we're all home.:D

I wish they would do something about the deck 11 forward lounge, The Bar at the Edge.

When we were on the Connie in Jan. we had a conversation with one of the senior officers, and she said nothing would be done there....even the rags on the ceiling would remain...

That's utterly disappointing--did not know they had rags on that ship too...it was once so lovely! When we went on Summit after it was ruined up there, I actually cried when I saw what they had done--never set foot in the lounge area again...we will be back on Summit in Sept & hope to see most of the rags & beds gone!!!!

We like Solstice but it'll take awhile to re-read & digest all the planned changes fro Connie... Hope they do not get to Summit unitl after we cruise in sept..what;s the timetable???

  • 4 weeks later...

Just found this thread and noticed all of the images are missing. 10 of us are going on the Constellation in January and we are interested in the changes. Is it possible to re-post the photos?

Thanks much, Karen

Have they really not removed those pieces of cloth (though rags seems to be a fitting description for them)? When we were on the Connie Transatlantic a few years back I thought that they seriously detracted from the appeal of the room but thought that it was something that was just a left over from the Cirque days and would be remedied in short order. It appears that I was mistaken.

This is the deck plan of the Conservatory (as presently posted in brochures) that will become the Tuscany.

Deck 5 Plan:

ChampagneBar03-02-201012-36-51PM.jpg

The Champagne Bar will become Bistro on 5, the Hole will be sealed, Cellar Masters will be added, the Martini Bar will be moved to Deck 4 between Rendezvous Lounge and the Casino, obliterating the On line area. The Card room is gone, not to be replaced.

Is this all a joke or have the pics really been deleted becasue someone got angry?

Oh No! Not the Martini Bar!

We love the Martini bar on the M-class. While it is large and takes up a lot of space it is a fantastic lounge and as large as it is, it is always so busy around dinner time. This is one aspect we'd really prefer not to see Solsticized! While the Martini bar on the Equinox looked "neat" aside from sitting at the cool but noisy bar it wasn't nearly as nice a place to enjoy a drink and conversation as the Martini bar on the M-class ships.

I guess that lounge also has a lot of sentimental value to us as we've made some great cruise friends during pre-dinner drinks and conversations there.

It is hard to believe that the area on deck 4 could be nearly as nice. I sure hope I'm wrong.

We Feel the martini bar on the Mille class was boring! We loved the feel of the one on Solstice went there all the time! If you want quiet thats what a May I suggest the Wine bar? ! A real Martini bar should be hip, with cool music, its an entertainment venue itself! We are with Friends next March again on the Summit but we are all talking on how we will miss the Solstice Martini bar.

We are Booked on Summit next March again and the 1 reservation we have is it is so boring looking and dated. We are looking forward to the changes on the Mille class!!! so exciting LOVED the Solstice!

I am so happy to know that the Constellation is being refurbished, because we love her. On our last TA, we ran into little problems...the wall outside our stateroom entry literally fell off when we opened our door....the lights in our stateroom were so dim we could not read...and those rags in the once beautiful forward observartion lounge....Seeing that space renewed will be a thrill.

Would love to see the photos in the posts up again....Thanks for all the good news....

Disagree with you on this point! the Solstice class are so well appointed and detailed...We love the Mille class but the need to be a little more modern to go with Celebrity style marketing and branding

Thank you Arno-- you have the best & most accurate reports...Looking forward to updates as info is revelaed...

glad your post a ways back said the " Hallowen decorations " (hanging rags)would be removed from the Bar At the Edge--that is indeed happy news..along with all the rest. Guess we will consider giving Connie another try--haven't been on her in a number of yrs & I believe she does a few Panama Canal transits which is on our list for late 2011 or 2012!!!

Anyone know if the Infinity is scheduled for the same "treatment" also (just because no one mentioned her name)?

All the M class ships are being "Solsticizied" which includes Infinity too.

No time frame has been published though. Constellation is up first,

next month. That is the one definite set time as of now.

Hopefully they will not install that couch in the M class staterooms and leave the THAL pool alone also.......

I hope the designer of that piece of furniture has been demoted.

It has to be the most useless feature of the new S-Class.

We're about to embark on Infinity for a B2B. For the first time we will evaluate our reaction to out of date styling, worn furniture and "blemishes" that affect our visual sensation in relation to our January Equinox and Solstice experiences.

I want to know at what point our reaction to negative features such as threadbare furniture and old color choices will counteract our love for the practicality of M-Class design.

According to information released yesterday to the travel industry, the "Solsticizing" of the other three M class ships will be over the next 3-4 years.
