Radio..

If you get a chance, stop by the Aquarium Bar on deck 3 (I think) and say hi to St. Hill & Henry if they are still bartending there. Tell them Russ & Karen from NY said hello. We sailed with them in October to Bermuda..they did a great job at keeping our glasses full!! Have a great time, we care considering sailing the Explorer in October for the New England/Canada cruise. We set sail on the Oasis on May 22..can't wait.:)

Will be reading all your posts.......

What a great service you're provided all of us. Thank you. My boys and I are extremely excited to be sailing on the Explorer in July. This will be our first sailing out of Cape Liberty. I'm a little confused regarding the pier and shuttle lay out - does everyone arrive at the terminal and are then shuttled out to the pier? Also, our cabin is located on the port side of the ship. Will be be able to see the Statue of Liberty from our cabin as we depart?

Radio, I came across your adventures from the Oasis when you were on the ship and totally enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to your Explorer trip as you travel along.

We have sailed out of Bayonne once and it was a breeze. We arrived early and were able to walk on the Celebrity Constellation. Since we are from Jersey, we have thought of taking the Explorer. Your trip will tell me if we want to go on this ship. You should have warmer weather than we have. We lost our electricity for a couple hours yesterday due to the winds and the heat kicked on last night.

Keep up the good work.

Linda

You can find ginger pills in the vitamin section of most drugstores and places like Target and Wal-Mart.

Thanks.......I'm so stupid I thought it was some kind of hard candy..... We never took anything before and were always okay. Do you have to take the ginger before sailing? or can you just take it if you feel funny.......

I know you have to take bonine ahead of time or else it won't help.

It is always optimal to take a motion sickness pill before you get sick, but I have taken Bonine in the middle of an episode and it has worked great. So you can take it if you start feeling funny and it should still work.

We just returned from a cruise on the Explorer. You will see Lady Liberty right outside your room from the Port side. You will also see Manhattan in the background.

When you arrive, you enter the check in terminal. After you are checked in and have your sea pass, you get on a bus for a very short ride to the ship. Easy, fast and efficient.

Hello everyone. . . Today was a nice relaxing day. I spent some time in the spa for a little bit, before it got crowded. It was a little chilly today, but the sun came out and warmed up things for everyone.

I was unable to get a signal earlier, so I couldn’t post. It works great now, so I am happy !

We had our Muster drill this morning, and at Noon we set our clocks forward 1 hour to 1PM. The Roll Call group that was created on Cruise Critic met this afternoon up in the Viking Crown Lounge. We had a nice time, and this was a very friendly group.

I made it to the Ice Show down in Studio B this afternoon, and it was very enjoyable. The cast and music were very good. I still think that the ice Show is one of the best things to do on a cruise.

I like that Explorer of the Seas now will ask for your sea Pass card when they take your photo. That makes it very easy to find in the gallery, as the photos are separated by deck. This is very smart.

Casino Royale wasn’t very friendly to me today. . . Better luck tomorrow.

We are still about 275nm from Bermuda, and the Captain suggested today that we should be picking up the Pilot about 9PM. The forecast for tomorrow is partly sunny, with light winds and 71F. . . I’ll take that !

Here are a few pics from today. . .More pics tonight.

Thanks for tuning in.

Hello,

How would you rate this cruise for a 14 yr old boy. taking the explorer of the seas cruise out of cape liberty to bermuda on 8-28. Has anyone been on this bermuda cruise before? Does anything other than the casino close while in bermuda port?

I heard the ship no longer does little chocolates on pillow and make towel animals, is this true?

Thanks

Karen

lakeloraine,

Thank you very much for the clarification. We'll be arriving by private car, so I wanted to make sure I understand the layout and drop off destination. My boys will be excited to hear we'll be able to see the Statue of Liberty from our balcony.

There is a lot to see from the harbor in all directions. You are best off going up to the pool decks, especially 11 and 12 when you are sailing away. Going under the VZ bridge with a few feet to spare from the mast to the underside of the bridge can't be appreciated camping out on a balcony .

Not Radio, but I can answer that...no, a junior suite does not give you access to any of the suite perks (other than getting double credit for Crown & Anchor status). Those are reserved for Grand Suites and above.

Thanks for the great updates as usual, Radio. I have a question that I didn't see you answer, sorry if you already answered it. Is Royal Caribbean giving you all any sort of onboard credit or compensation for basically missing that entire first half-day of the cruise?

Have fun in Bermuda, my FAVORITE place to visit! :)

Radio Says:

The Wi Fi is very fast, 2530kbps (WOW) and they have added some new packages.

I probably missed something... please clarify about Wi Fi. Is there a cost for it? Readily available? Not available in the cabins? Please fill me in - we will be sailing on EOS and would like to know how the Wi Fi system works. Thanks!

Definitely go up top for sailaway, you need to be there to almost touch the bottom of the Verazzano Bridge. Saw the ship yesterday coming over the bridge about 5:30PM - it was very windy, guess it didn't affect sailaway too much.

Oh my gosh....and you do realize Suzanne is getting on today as well??? hehe All too funny with Radio and you.

Hope you so enjoyed the cruise. Glad you are home safe and sound. what time were you allowed to disembark?

No, Cris, I didn't know Suzanne was on there also! We were allowed to disembark about 4:00pm.

I think Suzanne was on the cruise that came back late with the storm Noel? Am I right? You, Suzanne and Christie need to tell everyone when your cruise meet!!!

Yes Dawn, Suzanne and I were on the Noel cruise! Wow, we are getting famous for crazy cruises, aren't we? lol :p

Hello,

I heard the ship no longer does little chocolates on pillow and make towel animals, is this true?

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen! No, there are no more chocolates, but yes they do still make towel animals every night! :D

Does a JS qualify for a Gold Sea Pass card and access to these loungers?

Sorry. . . you must have a GS / OS / RFS / RS.

Diamond Plus members don't have access either.

Radio - what kind of camera do you have? And telephoto lens? Awesome photos!!!!!:)

I use several on each cruise, but most of the ones so far have been with an inexpensive Sony DSC-H10 (with a wide angle lens)

Hello everyone. . . I went to the Captains Gala Reception, down in the Royale Promenade. Captain Olav Nyseter introduced his Officers, and Sr. Staff.

The Production show in the Palace Theatre was Invitation to Dance. . . There was some great music, and the dancers were pretty good too. . .

I checked again and we are now only about 200nm from Kings Wharf, in Bermuda. I know from previous trips that you can see land about 2 hours before we dock. Explorer of the Seas will have to maneuver through the shipping channel to avoid the reefs. The pilot will guide us through, until docking.

I have no excursions planned for tomorrow, but I am sure I may end up at Horseshoe Bay, St Georges, and Bermuda National Aquarium/Zoo.

I would like to stay up for the adult comedy show, but I don’t see that happening.

It’s time for me to rest up for tomorrow. . Here are a few pics from tonight.

Thanks for tuning in.
