Ok ...giving this another try. I only got one response before... Please give me your impressions good and bad about the Valor. Couple in mid 60's , 8 previous cruises but none with Carnival. We will be anytime diners , maybe take in some shows , visit the casino , and use the adult pool that is quieter ( we hope ) than the main one.

Looking forward to your impressions.

I was on Valor last October. Lovely ship, but I really don't cruise for the decor of the ship anyway. We had early dining, which was too early for us. Wish we had done late dining. We do not care for anytime dining. The adult pool was fine. I wouldn't call it quiet, but there sure weren't any kids racing around or splashing in the pool. It is a busy area since the pizza is in the same area. I was able to find a pool side chair since I was alone.

We didn't see or experience any loud neighbors or rowdy youngsters. Our balcony room was on the Lido deck and very quiet and convenient. We don't watch the production shows, but enjoyed a few comedians.

Great itinerary.

I was on the Valor 2 years ago with my sister and BIL. I thought the decor was beautiful and the food good. We did 2nd dinner seating. The shows were great but we all like singers, dancers, and comedy acts. Pools were crowded. We went in Sept but still lots of kids and the ship was sailing full. We are in our 50's and 60's. Would I go on Valor again...sure.

We loved the Valor. We are a couple in our 50's. Big Tex the cruise director is excellent. We had a great time in the casino and did see some of the shows. We had the late seating dinner as they had not started the anytime dining. I think you will like it. Great value for the price.

I've sailed Valor four times. I like the ship and love the itinerary.

The aft adult pool should be quieter than the main pool. The make-up of pax will vary from sailing to sailing and you never know how rowdy the neighbors will be.

The DH is in his mid-60's and I'm quite a bit younger than that. We've never had a whole lot to complain about on Valor.

We were on the Valor twice last year only months apart and really enjoyed it... Neither sailing May or Sept had many children on board that we noticed...

Ports were Great, Food was good, service good, cabin stewards were excellent and we would sail on her again anytime... :D

I was on the Valor 5 years ago and will be on her again this October. I am 39 yrs old. We had a great time on our previous trip on the Valor. We enjoy what Carival has to offer. We find the entertainment to be enjoyable (esp. the piano bar). We prefer a quiet section up on deck for relaxing, rather than sitting on the main pool deck where the activities are (although we do walk over to view the happenings every now and then). The Valor is a beautiful ship (we enjoy the fact that each Carnival ship has a themed decor). We always do traditional dining (late seating), so I cannot comment about anytime dining. In my experience, I've seen all ages represented on Carnival's ships. This will be my first time repeating on a Carnival ship.

Ive sailed it three times. I dont see how you can go wrong. I do not really notice the decor a whole lot aboard. I am always paying too much attention to my feet and the nooks and crannis so I dont trip !!! HEHe just a personal goal for me to watch this happen to others ;)

I recall it being fairly a quiet crowd all three times. I do believe once or twice was in August as my then school age daughter was with me. Once in september where I met the greatest bunch of cruise critic folks around. Long lasting life time freindships were formed that week along with our good friend "IKE"

Happpy Sailing.

We are booked for the Valor for February 2012.

the pools are salt water. (I know other lines have fresh water)

I didnt know that Valor has an adult only pool- (they may ave the serinity area which is for adults only and is strictly enforced.

If you are going during an off time--when kids are in school you wont have a lot of kids onboard

We sailed on the Valor in January of this year. We booked a balcony on the Spa deck. What a wonderful location.

The ship was easy to get around and finding a quiet place for just the two of us was easy. There were several times during the day that the pools were less crowded and really enjoyable. Loungers were also readily available, one detail I have omitted is the weather STUNK. Seven days seven hours of sunshine. Despite it all the crew and staff made this cruise one of our best with Carnival.

If she is still on board do not miss Ryanne in the American Lounge. This girl can sing. We did not miss her any night she was on.

The dining room was great, service was bang on. Again kudos to the Valor.:)

I cruised on Valor in March with two 18 year olds for their spring break (my daughter and her college roommate). It was early March, so most of the spring breakers were from Canada. Big Tex was our cruise director and I remember him stating at one point there were over 800 people under the age of 18 on the boat, but honestly, I don't recall seeing but maybe a handful during the entire 7 days ! There were a good variety of ages on the boat. Saw everything from the younger 20somethings to older 70-ish passengers. My daughter and her friend did hang out alot in the adult area and said it was always relatively quiet.

We had a great time. Favorite places for me to hang out were the casino, piano bar, coffee shop, sushi bar on the evenings it was open, and on one of the top decks lying in the sun. I'm not a pool person so I usually don't lie by the pool, but every time I walked past it, there were always chairs available and I never saw any obnoxious behavior.

We had late dining, and of course, the food was great. Ordered our fair share of room service - food was good and service was fast.

Girls did take in a few shows and a comedy act or two - they said they were great as well. I'm not really into the shows - would rather be standing at the craps table!

Embarkation and debarkation went smoothly. We participate in the program where Carnival takes your luggage the night before and sends it on to the airline. Everything went smoothly. We put our luggage out the night before with the airline luggage tags Carnival provided to us, our cabin steward delivered our airline boarding passes after dinner, we took our time getting off the ship the following morning, went through customs with our carry-ons, grabbed a cab and headed to the airport, and once back in Atlanta, all our luggage was there waiting for us in baggage claim. Super smooth process and made for easier time at airport since we were already checked in and didnt have to check any luggage!

The only bad thing I have to say about our cruise was the long line in the Port of Miami. We took our time getting off the ship, and apparently everyone else did also! We waited until the final call for passengers to disembark and once inside the port, Lord, that line was long!! Must have waited 30 minutes, but maybe that's typical for POM? (It was first time I had sailed from Miami).

Holler if you have any specific questions that i might could answer. I'll do what I can! Enjoy your trip!

Loved the Valor. Nice ship. Great time. We took it on our 20th Anniversary Cruise. You can read about our experience and see a few pics at the review in my signature.

Been looking at a sister ship in the Conquest for this fall...

Hi- I took my first cruise in 2008 (I actually turned 28 on the cruise!) I do not have any point of reference but I absolutly LOVED the Valor. So much that I did the same exact cruise in 2009 again! As another person said, it is a great itenitary and the ship is really great! The only problem I had one night on my first cruise was this, we were in the lounge in the back of the ship and it was either rough or we were traveling fast, and I felt like i was getting sick... just me though! She really is a beautiful ship!!! I am sure you will love it!!!!

Hi Travel,

We were on the Valor in July of last year and had a wonderful time. :)

We are in our 50s and felt the age mix on this cruise was very good.

Since this was mid summer there were a lot of children in the main pools but the adult pool in the back was much quieter.

If you have the time, I wrote quite a long trip report where you can see pictures and find all kinds of information of our cruise on the Valor.

I hope you enjoy yours :)

My only complaint about the Valor is that I haven't won a taxable jackpot on one of their slots yet. I'll just have to try again!

I like the Valor and the Conquest class ships, but if you are big into the pool, I wanted to warn you. The main Lido deck has 2 pools - one at the bottom and one up by the slide. These are NOT quiet areas. There is a rear pool that in mostly enclosed - it has a sliding roof that opens. It tends to be quieter, but it is not the open sunny feel, if that is what you are really wanting. But there are plenty of quiet places to snag a chair and watch the water - just not around the main pool.

the aft pool is the 'adult' pool and unless there is bad weather - the 'roof' is always left open. I actually prefer areas away from the pool - decks 10 or 11 aft for the great view and ocean breeze!
