Favorite Beach in the CARIBBEAN

Anguilla gets the nod from me and I've been to dozens of islands. Shoal Bay is breathtaking. I took the ferry over for the day while on a cruise and spent the afternoon sharing a gorgeous beach with one other person at a great little tiki bar. Trunk Bay is also very beautiful and Aruba has some showstoppers, too!

Rincon Beach in Samana, Dominican Republic. Very remote. Best to get there by ATV or horseback, but a piece of heaven when you do. Gentle rolling waves, dazzling azure colours and magnificent mountain scenery. Julio Ingelesias was rumored to be digging it up to build a casino-style mega hotel, so get there soon before the carnage hits.

Hi Jake, If you're looking for a beach within walking distance of the port, you might want to consider the Pasanggrahan Hotel. Very small older hotel right on the beach - they have been here for yrs & yrs. They welcome cruise ship tourists and allow you to use their beach chairs & umbrellas in return for you purchasing either drinks or lunch. It is not Shoal Bay by a long shot but the pluses do outweigh any minuses. Have a great cruise.

Hi Helen. Connie and I have taken a bus to Maho and had drinks at the Sunset Bar watching the planes land the last couple of times we've been in St. Maarten. We've then enjoyed the beach near the port mainly because of the entertainment (usually some locals acting up) and being close to the ship you can relax and not worry about being late getting back. The deal...lounge chairs, floaty toys, umbrella and two beers for ten bucks is attractive but we haven't found a decent restroom in the restaurants nearby. Seems like the Pasanggrahan Hotel beach is a more civilized spot, worth a try.

Ferry runs on regular schedule. Must take cab from Shoal Bay back to ferry which could be problem unless you pre-arrange for return trip. cab from ferry to shoal Bay and cab from St. Martin ferry to ship -no problem.

As you can see, everyone has a different opinion. There is no real consensus. There are very photogenic beaches like Trunk Bay for example. If you want THE best experience on a beach on a given day that is a different matter. Clouds, wind direction, all play a part. Time of year too. What activities you want to do also play a part. Be open. On one side of an island conditions might be better than the other. One side can be windy and cloudy the other clearer and calmer. This is particularly true in places like Barbados. On a cruise you will have a number of options.

If you are concerned about the weather look into it in travel guides like Frommers'. Aruba comes to mind as a very dry place in the winter for example.

Hope this helps.

I think any Beach in Roatan Honduras is one of my favorites :D While I love HMC and a few others. I especially love Foster's at West Bay (it was like having our own private island and lagoon) and the new CCL Corp project at Mahogany Bay. The Beach area right at the cruise terminal is really nice for a close beach.

I agree with UKgirl31 all the way. Crane Beach in Barbados is in a league of it's own. Warm, I repeat, warm crystal clear water. Huge relaxing waves and sand that is as soft at silk. Diving off of the nearby rock cliffs, spear fishermen. The works. Beautiful. Simply beautiful. I could go on and on.
