kittychick78 Posted March 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2011 is that I see in most 'first' pics of rooms? I'm a newbie--I'm booked for my first cruise next January on the Glory and I'm already addicted...I LOVE reading reviews on here, especially the ones with pics...but in almost every review I see the pics of the rooms and they all have this big brown plastic-y looking thing on the beds--WHAT IS THAT? And what do you do with it??? Thanks! :)
Mizzouaholic Posted March 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Im assuming you might be seeing the little brown box thing where the life vests are stores. Or maybe the cover that goes over the lights that are on the wall.
Sophiesmom2 Posted March 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2011 You put your luggage on it when you unpack so you don't get the bed covers dirty....:-)

Geezers Posted March 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2011 It's a mat to put your luggage on while you unpack. Just roll it up when you are done and put it in the closet.
scchasgal Posted March 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2011 It is for your luggage which after being all through the ship and piled on top of other luggage will be nasty and dirty. Keeps the duvet clean. After you unpack and when the cabin steward comes in the first night for turndown he will put it away.
SunshineOnTheBrain Posted March 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2011 That is a luggage mat. Your room steward will store it after your luggage arrives and you put your belongings away!
firefly333 Posted March 29, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 29, 2011 You put your luggage on it when you unpack so you don't get the bed covers dirty....:-) bingo, and I agree with OP its ugly, and I hate having to store it.
seashinesunshine Posted March 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2011 And then the last night the room steward will put it back on your bed for packing.
scchasgal Posted March 29, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2011 bingo, and I agree with OP its ugly, and I hate having to store it. Which is why I don't store it, nasty looking, the steward will put it away during turndown.

Most people take cabin shots the first day ... imagine taking cabin shots after about day three! Have fun on the Glory ... we are looking to book *ahhh, dream* the fall itinerary up into Canada and New England. Hopefully, sooner than later.

firefly333 Posted March 29, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 29, 2011 I thought it was a yoga/exercise mat or a slip and slide. Its not long enough to be a slip and slide. I had one of those. As to why I put it away as soon as I see it instead of waiting for the cabin steward to do it. I dont want to sit on it even or see it longer than I have to. The4Cruisers Posted March 29, 2011 #21 Share Posted March 29, 2011 You could use it as a mat on the water slide and build up some good speed! :p

kris12 Posted March 29, 2011 #24 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Its a way to get to know your cruise neighbors........if you all take your mats into the hall and lay them end to end you will have a nice long slip and slide.
