Kids at adult pool/spa?

What is your opinion on children being in and/or around the adult pool & spa area?

Personally, I understand going for a cruise if often a family vacation, however I do not prefer to be splashed or ran into-so I simply head to the adult pool instead of the main pool. Unfortunately it seems that some parents are of the mindset that as long as their child behaves, it is okay for them to be in the adult area. I disagree, I think children should not be allowed in the adult area period. (Obviously if they need to come talk to mom or dad, to ask a question or just check in, by all means that is great parenting...but then they should be on their way. If parents want to hang out with thier children with them, they should all head to the main pool).

What do you think?

Since the rule only pertains to the pool itself on many ships that do not have a all adult area, there will always be kids there. conquest for instance has a sign that some say applies only to the hot tubs in back, but some say also to the pool. You cant ban kids from the area, as the 24/7 ice cream and deli and pizza is also back there. its not a adult area, just a adult (maybe) pool.

Most of the serenity areas like the one on Elation only have hot tubs.

If its a actual all adult area I would agree.

Here is the serenity adult area on Elation last week .. no pool, so no splashing. I did not see any children there though.

An adult only area should be just that-adults only. It's nice to have something aside just for the adults as there are so many venues for the kids and I find nothing wrong with wanting some quiet time. I'm looking forward to all areas and activities of the Splendor in June, but also looking forward to the Serenity deck reading and relaxing.

I think it would be interesting to post how many Carnival ships actually have a all adult area (with a pool) .. as Iv never seen one. .. but then I tend to do the same ships over and over out of the gulf.

What ships do have a adult area?

Adult areas are simply, adult areas. No kids allowed. Period. The end. Adults do not attend Camp Carnival. There are plenty of other places that children and adults, including families, are welcomed on the ship. I want to have a place to get away that is adult only, besides my cabin or the casino!

I totally agree. My wife and I are going to be hiding in the T-pool/spa for a lot of our upcoming cruise on Splendor.

I know I am going to catch a lot of heat for my response but here goes....I do not like that there is an entire pool area that does not allow children. I want the option to go to the back of the ship with my kid to swim where it is QUIETER. Sometimes it is nice to hear the calypso music at the main pool for a little while, but it soon becomes obnoxious and tiresome to have to yell over the music. Everything is SO loud. I don't particularly enjoy having to sit and listen to the loud music and watch the steady stream of people waiting in line for food but I am forced to do so because I need to be close to the pool to supervise my child and make sure he is safe. The serenity area is great as adults only. Carnival should add a couple more hot tubs up there for the people who do not want to deal with children on this FAMILY cruise line.

as of now, only the pools and spas are off limits to the kids in those areas unless it's a serenity area.

Wait, I'm confused.. The aft pools on ships are adults only?? I was on the Dream last June and saw kids in both pools on Lido Deck, which was fine by me. The Serenity area was free from kids & had plenty of hot tubs for the adults.

What ship just had a Serenity upgrade? Cause I remember about 2 months ago, John Heald posted pictures of it and there was a pool for the Serenity area. Which was a great idea in my opinion. There should be a pool in the adult's only area since some adults prefer swimming without children. Plus it would keep the other two pools on Lido Deck less full.

Also wanted to add.. Adult's only area should be just that: adult's only. Carnival creates plenty of space for their children's programs and clubs, so there is no reason for them to invade the one adult's only area on the ship (aside from the night club during certain hours).

I think it's ok for non-adult passengers to be in the area of the adult pool and/or spas as long as they are not in places they are prohibited from. I don't recall seeing any problems when i have been in those areas. There always seemed to be ample chaises to accommodate everyone. I don't see a problem with well behaved children anymore than i do with well behaved adults.

There was an adult only pool and area on the Freedom when we went in December...yes, it was right by the pizza and deli but I really didn't see kids in the pool. There were kids all around getting food. I know I REALLY wanted to take advantage of the adult only pool, but I had two kids with me, so I followed the rules and took them to the kid friendly pool. If it says adult only, it should be adult only.

I tend to agree with most of the posters that adults only is just that. Sometimes, we just want the quiet, serene area. IMO that is why CCL developed the Adult Serenity areas.

I agree with you. This is the purpose of the serenity area. I think they should put a small pool there for adults to enjoy as well as the hot tubs. I do not think that they should dedicate a normal pool to adults only. Us parents should be able to take our kids swimming without having to listen to blasting music.

After reading quite a few posts about the old topless areas, and whether people still try to go topless, I would say that if you want kids to leave.... take off your top. Their parents will have them out of there in the blink of an eye.

Fire

The Legend has a pool and hot tub in their Serenity Area. Only saw 2 kids there for a brief period with a parent.

thanks ... so thats one more ship, besides the spa area of splendor, magic and dream.

Most ships dont seem to have a adults only AREA, only the pool is adults only, not the area. .. if it even has a 2nd pool that can be adults only. The fantasy class ships with waterworks only have one pool.

There are so few ships with a AREA for adults?

The whole AREA on the Valor is adults only including the pool. It is beyond the doors where the ice cream/pizza is so there is no reason for children to be back there at all and it clearly states on the glass doors that it is Adults Only.

I have only seen two ships (with my own eyes) where the entire aft pool area is Adult Only. That's Legend and Valor. There were signs on the auto-doors leading out to that area with Adult Only signs on them.

The rest of the ships I've been on have a sign in the pool area that says Adult Only. Some interpret that to mean the entire area, others say pool only. Who knows??

I want a quieter area as well. That's why the kids should not be allowed in the adult only area.

People who bring their children on a cruise for a family vacation should stick to the areas that are not set aside for adults only.

There are many more venues for children than for adults only.
