Carnival pins?

I posted on this thread several months ago to see if anyone had a Carnival Festivale past guest pin they were willing to sell & frequently checked this thread to see, if by any luck, one became available. After also checking Ebay frequently for over a year and sporadically several years before that without ever seeing one, I began to wonder if they even existed. I emailed Carnival a few days ago to ask if past guest pins existed for Festival (ship models and ornaments as well) and today I received the following response from Carnival (I'm leaving the Carnival representative's signature out to respect her privacy):

Thank you for contacting Carnival Cruise Lines. We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

The Festivale did not have any ship pins made for her and we weren't selling the models or ornaments back then either so I'm afraid they are none out there. (At least not that we're aware of).

Thank you for choosing Carnival Cruise Lines, we look forward to welcoming you back aboard another one of our "Fun Ships" soon.

Cordially,"

Our first cruise was on Carnival Festivale for our honeymoon in 1992 and she was part of Carnival's fleet from 1977 until 1996. If anyone else is looking for a past guest Festivale pin, it really appears that they don't exist, unfortunately.

Good luck to the rest of you in getting the pins you are looking for.

Actually Carnival is wrong, I did see one on e-Bay very very rare and I'm pretty sure JoeB has one, I think he even sold one on e-Bay. Very expensive to get and very very rare to even find one

Thank you for this information. Maybe the Carnival rep wasn't 100% sure or started working @ Carnival well after Festivale's last year in 1996. After all, she did say "(at least not that we're aware of)" in her response. I will continue to keep on checking Ebay & this thread then. Thank you again for letting me know they are out there, even if they are rare there's hope. :)

Hello Everyone

Yes I am aware of the pins on ebay. I was notified today by a good

FRIEND of the pins on ebay. The Mardi Gras pin on ebay is not like

the pin I have in my collection. The Mardi Gras and Carnivale pins are

shaped like a shield and not the whale tail pin. The Tropicale pin on ebay is like the two I have. One is dated 2000 and the other is plain, no date.

As far as the Festivale pin goes, I have one. It is like the whale tail pins.

I will say this, the person on ebay is asking a lot for pins that I have given away.

Also the Holiday pin that is selling for $40.00, I have never seen one like it. So I can't make judgement on it. Maybe JoeB can.

Now I will tell you about a pin you may not know about and it is very rare,

I have one. It is the Carnival Centennial Celebration in 1986 of the Statue Of Liberty. It was given out on the Jubille. If any of you are interested in having one, email me and I will put in touch with the person that has some extra's. I must warn you they are expensive since they are very rare.

A word of caution, remember the term buyer beware when it come to ebay. You will notice on the pins in this disscussion, the seler will not

accept returns.

If you have anymore questions, email me.

One more thing, all of you know me and if you need a pin. Please contact me first and I will try to help you out for free. I just sent off some pins

today to another collector and I know I have put a :) on his face.

JR,

So you're saying that the Festivale pin that is currently on Ebay may be legit? I am actually watching that auction now and have not placed a bid since I was waiting for some confirmation on whether this is a fake or the real deal. I'm also watching the price since once people start bidding, it will probably skyrocket. It's starting off kind of expensive, but if it doesn't go much higher than that, it may be worth it to me. The Festivale has a special place in my heart - she was our first cruise ever and also our honeymoon. She is also the only ship I've been on that I'm still looking for a pin to complete my collection. As you can tell by my cruise history, that collection isn't very big. :)

Thank you for all of your help on here.

I also have the Festivale pin. I know CCL had them, all be it late in the game, but do not think they had many. Therefore only a few ever show up on EB and they are expensive.

My concern with the ones showing up now is if one is a copy, they all will be. Maybe it makes no difference to some but the person listing them should include that they are copies or faux pins.

Here is the photos of the Festivale I have and also the "rare" centennial Jubilee/Statue of Liberty

thanks for all that info JR. I was debating to buy some of the pins on ebay just so I can get my collection going a little further then the 3 pins I currently have in my possesion (and I know you have something in the mail for me too....I soooo appreciate it) but I did feel the price on some of them was a bit steep. I purchased one this morning for $6.99 buy it now including shipping for a Imagination CCL pin...that price seemed fair I suppose though I much prefer the "pay it forward" method of everyone helping each other out here. One of these days when I have spares I to will gladly give them away for free to other members who need them for their collections.

JR, I would LOVE to have one of those statue of liberty pins though I am afraid to ask...how much? lol.

I have collected Carnival Cruise pins from the beginning, and as many know I have over 1,000. Including all the early ones. Every pins "cruisetrend" has listed are DEFINITELY counterfeit, GThey are not even good copies, with several differences, most notably the Mardi Gras left the fleet in 1993, The Carnivale in 1994, The Festival in 1998, The Tropicale in 2001,the Jubilee in 2004. Carnival did not start

renaming" the earlier ships until the Fantasy Class ships were refitted and renamed until late 2008.

Carnival never had a BREEZE, and the Magic has never issued this type of funnel pin.

PLEASE, everyone one go to EBay ond on the right side about half way down there is a place to report all these pins a fakes.

Carnival never had a BREEZE,

The Breeze is due out next summer so it would be very doubtful that there would be a pin floating around when its hard to get them for the current ships.

The seller seems to have added some "Real" Carnival items to make the pins seem more authentic...

Joe

Thanks for helping out with this. I am glad you explained it a little better than I did.

Did you see the older Holiday pin for $40.00 on ebay? In all my years,

I have never seen one like it. Have you?

JR, sorry, but I have been very lax with pins this year due to my involvement with the Civil War re-enactments(I think it is going to become a lot more involved...) and did not see it. The Holiday has issued the "shield pin" the "gold ship shaped pins" the plain single word " Holiday" and the doubled worded "Carnival Holiday".

And thanks for the advertisement.. I do have a few of the earlier pins still for trade or for sale.

So I emailed the seller on ebay in regards to his Carnival Breeze past guest pin. I asked him if he would guarantee in writting that this is authentic CCL merchandise and not a copy or fake. I also asked how he obtained the item already since the ship isnt scheduled to set sail until next year. His response....

You think that they start making the merchandising "after" the ship hits the water? Everything for this ship has been already made: towels, T-shirts, caps, napkins postcards, brochures, itineraries, bathrobes etc. I have only one from a batch of 25 samples

I think at least some of the pins this seller has are fake/counterfeit also. I've reported them to eBay.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the time all of you have put into looking into the authenticity of these pins recently listed on Ebay confirming they are fakes. If it weren't for you, I probably would have bid on the "fake" Festivale pin (depending on price) to complete my collection. My search for a real Festivale pin continues.

Should this be reported to Carnival too? After all, their name and logo are being used on fakes for profit.

I would also like to know if anyone else knows of another place to look for these pins.

Now onto Ebay to report this seller (thanks for the link and the auction list to easily copy and paste).
