New Menu on Imagination

The fried chicken on Carnival Magic was pretty darned tasty and served on a plate at a table with a real tablecloth!

Seriously. How are you supposed to eat that elegantly?? My DH will be banned from ordering that (along with the ribs).

I was going to mention about the ribs but figured the fried chicken was enough!

 

I was always for jeans in the dining room....with a nice top/blouse/shirt. Some people now where shorts to the MDR, I seen it! Heck, the the lack of quality of the food that Carnival now offers why not it all goes shorts and fried chicken, oh don't forget those ribs.

 

(sarcastically speaking) I just love to go on a cruise and to eat worse than I do at home!

Seriously, how I eat something is none of your concern, but sticking out pinkies when eating with your hands immediately makes everything elegant.

Classy??? Not sure where that comes from ?…

I like the mdr for its “near” fine dining selections

Fried chicken, meat loaf or other comforts foods while good for Pubs/gastro pubs , for me its not up to par ( especially if they are substituting for their usual fare ).

Eating 4 of anything has nothing to do with fine dining …

Please pass the beef –a-roni

 

Oh look....someone gets it :p This change is the equivalent of Ruth's Chris going to meatloaf and fried chicken. If I wanted pub food, I'd go to a pub, NOT the MDR on a cruise ship. We are sailing in October. I'll reserve judgement as to whether or not we change lines until I see if these changes are in addition to (which is fine), or instead of (which is not)--unless of course someone posts the new menus and we find out for sure ahead of time.

You people need to get over thinking that the MDR is some kind of fine dining establishement. It is not. It's provides good, enjoyable food for you on vacation. If you expecting Jean Georges, you are going to be disappointed. If you demand mich. star rated food, you will probably have to stay on land. And that meal will probably cost about half as much as your cruise fare.

I was on the Imagination 5/9 - 5/16, but didn't see these options, tho did notice a couple of other more "elegant" choices, whatever that means:rolleyes: My tablemates tried them, tho I don't remember what each was, but did say that they were very good. I think they were new chicken and fish dishes.

 

As we all know, food is subjective and who cares if fried chicken and meatloaf are on the menu. They're CHOICES people. If you don't like them, don't order them. As an example, I don't cook fried chicken and never ate it as a kid, so every once in a while I enjoy it. If I want to order it on a cruise, so be it...it's my CHOICE.

You think that the MDR is equivilent to Ruth's Chris? Have you been to Ruth's Chris before or just seen pictures?

 

I am cruising Imagination this fall, look forward to checking out the new menu and seeing what I ENJOY. I'll leave the pretension at home.

these are choices that should be offered in the lido buffet. what a draw they would be to some people here. kitchen food. not dining room food.

I guess it's just me.....When I cruise, the whole "elegant fine dining" isn't at the top of my list. I go for the adventure of being on the ship and waking up in new exciting ports each day and flopping down on a beach and swimming in the clear blue waters.

 

The additions sound yummy to me, so I guess that makes me a member of the "Walmart" type cruisers that Carnival now caters to. Doesn't bother me a bit!:D

 

ps - This redneck is thrilled that I can now wear my khaki shorts to the MDR!!!!

Not yet. But let me ask you this....how many 5 star restaurants have you gone to that serve escargot out of the shell? So that part's ok? Where exactly is the bar set?

 

The truth is, everyone loves the lobster in a ship's MDR, but 75% can't tell the difference between Rock and Maine. That's a fact. It ISN'T fine dining, and I don't understand why people continue to try to compare it to such.

So you all think that meatloaf and fried chicken isn't "classy" enough to be in the MDR, but you're more than happy to order 4 lobster tails? Yep, that's classy...:rolleyes:

 

and what is wrong with 4 lobster tails? You are paying for it...Our son ate 14 of them on our Destiny Cruise and well we all have alot of class so Im not sure where Class comes into it? Im now diabetic as well as having high blood pressure so I cant eat "comfort foods" that has nothing my friend to do with having Class...eesssh

This is just another cost cutting option from Carnival. The object it to spend the least amount of money on guest, while increasing the options of taking your money in casino's and at the bar, with excursions, and those annoying photographers.

 

That's what a pal of mine said she found most annoying on Carnival - the photographers.

Many MANY fine dining establishments serve escargot on escargot plates, OUT of the shell. Zagat rated and even Michelin starred restaurants do.

i know this throat wouldn't allow a snail in a shell past its epilglotus.

 

I also can't eat shrimp that still has a head on it. :eek:

they had plenty of lobsters..my goodness...that is all he ate he didnt get shrimp or sides just the lobster tails....and Im paying for it why shouldn't he eat it?

and the fact we ate them at 7:45 there was plenty and why am I justifying myself?

So what's wrong with meat loaf as long as it is fresh and good? At least it can be a last resort pick when you can't find any thing else. So instead of "Flat iron steak" (You got to admit Carnival is being honest about this piece of meat - It's not like they are hiding some thing. They are warning you ahead of time), you pick meat loaf. Now add some gravy, mash potatoes, a vegetable, shrimp cocktail, cake and ice cream and end it with a cup of coppachino (Spelling?) See .............. I can see you are getting excited just thinking about it. Bring it on!
