I noticed your trip on the Sun was in September 2008 and I hope I get to see colors like that this year when we drive into the Yukon :D

It was definitely beautiful and something I wasn't expecting! A nice surprise for sure.

Aug 12th of 2011 ... Alaska is perfect anytime.... You'll enjoy it..

THanks so much! I am sooooo inspired by all these photos! I need to take my camera out for an excursion this weekend (even if it's in the good ol Sunshine State instead of Alaska - we've benn known to have a few scenic spots, too!) :)

  • 4 weeks later...

My photos are no where near as beautiful as most of these on there. Here are a few I liked that I had handy.

Here is a photo I took off the stern of one of the ferries on the Alaska Marine Highway, somewhere in the vicinity of Vanderbilt reef. Shelter island is just to the right of the flag pole for those who are familiar with the area:

This picture was taken on the Haines Highway, somewhere between Haines and Haines Junction. I don't recall exactly where:

This was also on the Haines Highway at the summit. I took this photo around the end of June:

I snapped this picture off the Alcan Highway, somewhere outside of the Tok/Tetlin Junction area:

Here is a bunch of sealions on Benjamin Island near Juneau:

I don't remember why I took this picture. I run crab pots off of Eagle River Beach in Juneau in the summer. I decided to take a close-up of a Dungeness crab on my porch before I put him in the pot. I thought it was kind of a cool pic:

7 of us are on the HAL Westerdam May 12-19, 2012 out of Seattle to Juneau and back. I sure hope my camera can take pictures this good. I can't afford a new camera but I sure wish I had a zoom lens on the old thing I do have.

Thanks everyone for giving me a taste of things to come. I'm hoping for good enough weather to get some good pics of our trip.
