TheCaveman Posted September 7, 2011 Author #252 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Now, as this is the first sea day, we just wanted to lie in the sun, and do nothing. But, as there were so many ports in a row, John had his Venice port talk this morning. So, I decided I will go along and listen to his advice. So, he informed us a lot about what to sdo, and what not, but, he said at the beginning, he had bad news for us all. Anyway, after he is done, he finally tells us, that, as we are arriving in Venive around 12pm that night, and it is dark, and on everybody’s bucket list should be to cruise into Venice, in the daytime, they did some magic, and, we will now be arriving approx 7:30 pm that evening. Therefore, Elegant Evening was moved to the next sea day, the day after Venice. We only had 1 elegant night on a this 12 day cruise. So, big cheers for John, as he made it happen. So, now we will sail into Venice that evening, instead of the next day. Ok, as well, today were the Love and Marriage show. Well, I thought that was the show, where, they get 3 couples to sit, back to back, answer 10 questions, and it is quite funny… Well, this was a different show, here john got the guys to sing a song to there wife’s… They were selling these Disco Ball drink, and the GF just had to have one. I got something as well
TheCaveman Posted September 7, 2011 Author #253 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Ok, so, where I am from, they have this drink, called Don Pedro. It is one of the best tasting drinks there is. As, it is a milkshake, with alcohol, but, not just any alcohol… And, whoever invented the drink, well, he deserves a gold star, as the ingredients just work together. Don Pedro Recipe 1 oz whiskey 1 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur 1 cup vanilla ice cream cream Combine all ingredients together in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a hurricane glass, and serve. So, as we already had a few milkshakes from the place on deck 5 where they make then, I decided, I will have a Don Pedro. The woman, Anuska, the server at the place said it sounded good, and she made it for me,

TheCaveman Posted September 7, 2011 Author #256 Share Posted September 7, 2011 Rest of the day we spent in the sun doing nothing. And, as tonight were suppose to be Elegant night, but, instead we are sailing into Venice, we decided to go for dinner. This was our first night on Your Time Dining. Chicken Tenders, I think I had 2 of the fried shrimp. GF also had the Mushroom Soup, she loved it, gave it 100% as far as soup's go. We both had the same main, the Fillet Steak, Well, now, I dont really want to complain, but, as far as fillet goes... I am from South Africa, and, as such, our culture it to eat meat. Just like, I am sure you cant tell a person from NY / Chicago how to make pizza. Or a Texan how to do a BBQ, Well, that "fillet" must have been some special cow, as, it was more like a piece of roast. But, it was passable as fillet, i think it fooled most people. TheCaveman Posted September 7, 2011 Author #258 Share Posted September 7, 2011 So, after dinner, we knew we were close to Venice, so, we did , just like 4000 other people, went to the Starboard side of ship, to have a look at us sailing into Venice. This year, Venice experienced the worst floods in 20 years. Or was it last year, can’t remember what John said, anyway, they are building this underwater dam, that will prevent Venice from flooding in the future. TheCaveman Posted September 7, 2011 Author #265 Share Posted September 7, 2011 This was one of the few evenings we watched a movie on the big screen. First off, the sound is brilliant. Loud, but not to loud, WE were planning to watch Casino Royale, as that is what the Funtimes Said will be showing, but, when movie started, they showed The Green Hornet So, we watched the Green Hornet, and afterwards, I called Guest Services, to ask will they be showing Casino royal or Green hornet later, as the next movie tonight? I was told, Green Hornet was suppose to play tomorrow. So, we stayed and watched Casino Royal. During the movie, the waiters walked passed, and , they had this BlowFish fish drink.. The GF just had to have one.

robin13 Posted September 7, 2011 #268 Share Posted September 7, 2011 I think that I am going to be spending a lot of money on the fancy drinks!! Can you tell me what was in the disco ball drink? I would probably buy it just for the container. Also, the blow fish drink is so cute! I have been on lot's of Carnival Cruises but don't remember them having all these cute container drinks. I am wondering if it is something special just for The Magic?
cruisinskier Posted September 8, 2011 #269 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Thanks for the great review. We are really enjoying it, especially the Monaco pics given we were unable to dock there on the inaugural. Thanks for taking the time...friends of ours were also onboard and I hear there were lots of kids!! Seeing your photos brought back a ton of great memories....thanks again :D

I was on the Magic on the second sailing (last May) and they didn't have them. I would have gotten one of each for sure!

I am wondering if it is something special just for The Magic? They had the blowfish and the disco ball on Fascination when we were on 8/25/11. DH got the blowfish but he complained that the cup inside that the drink is in was very small and it really is.
TheCaveman Posted September 8, 2011 Author #273 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Well, the Blowfish and the Discoball, I wont say the cups indise were very small, they are bigger than the cups they give you the Bloody Mary's in , or if you have a single with coke. I cant remember what was inside, I assumed it was the trink of the day, but, the GF drank them, so not 100% sure And, only cost like $12 / $13 after the tip, so not "to" bad
Froufie Posted September 8, 2011 #274 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Definitely have to get one of those 'blowfish' cups - don't really care what's inside? :D Heck I will refill it myself and walk around the ship with it enjoying my own creations!
