Early morning Tea / Coffee in Cabin on Explorer

There is a breakfast menu card that you fill out and hang on your cabin door when you go to bed. You note a time on the card. Room service will call you when your order is on the way. They are good about being there in the time frame noted. The call can also serve as a wake-up call. My experience has been that they tend to arrive toward the early part of the time slot i.e., chose 7:30-8:00 AM and they tend to be there shortly after 7:30.

It's not lazy at all! You are on vacation, enjoy this service. But... gotta tell you that the best coffee on the entire ship (IMO!) is in the Café Promenade. They have large thermoses of coffee, and hot water for tea and instant hot chocolate. You can bring a travel mug from home and it will stay nice and hot. You can pick up some delicious pastries at the same time and take it all back to your room to enjoy. Or... sit in the peace and quiet of the Royal Promenade. It's wonderful there early in the morning. :)

Enjoy Explorer! She is one of our favorite ships.

We had a room service breakfast and a large pot of coffee every morning on our last Explorer cruise. We used the menu card each night, and the tray was promptly delivered. The pre-delivery phone call was a great help in being "ready" for the tray.

Early-morning coffee out on the balcony--priceless!

When I ordered a room service snack in the early evening (I had 8:30 pm dinner) I ordered a pot of coffee. The carafe kept the coffee hot til the following morning so I didn't have to be bothered with room service in the a.m. I could wake up whenever I liked and the coffee was there. Then I would go and have breakfast in the mdr when I was ready.

I order a pot of coffee for two as soon as I wake up- no food, just coffee. Usually takes about 5-10 minutes (just enough time for me to grab a couple of bucks for the tip!). But I am also ordering at around 6 in the morning; not sure if it takes longer if you order later on...say around 9 or so.

I call Room Service when we get up and it usually comes in about 15 minutes. I don't like to put the order on the door the night before because I don't know then when I'm going to be up. Room Service in the morning is my best luxury on this trip!

Hey - don't go telling everyone about that or it will get crowded - lol. My biggest disappointment is that they don't bring out the cookies (coconut ranger - omg) until lunchtime, but I manage with the pastries.

We always do the same and maybe go to the MDR on sea days..

You can also write in an earlier time (6 AM or 6:30 AM) and we never had a problem getting the delivery.

I took a t/a cruise on the Navigator and my inner clock was all out of whack from the time change so the cafe became my hangout when I was wide awake at 4 or 5 am. I got tired of watching the promos for the Ozzie and Harriet videos. The episode where they sing My Gal Sal was getting on my nerves.
