ferfoodle Posted October 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Been watching the web cam for a bit this afternoon. They are still in Miami, but working on Lido deck already. Looks like they are tearing down the big screen and other work. Kinda neat. http://www.infocruise.it/infoCarnival/ShipInfo.asp?name=Liberty&channel=

Kinda neat. http://www.infocruise.it/infoCarnival/ShipInfo.asp?name=Liberty&channel=2 Cool... maybe they will just leave that big screen down... :D Sorry... I am one that does not like it... Just got off of the Destiny... nothing beats getting up early in the morning walking on deck with my first cup of coffee and hearing... Good Morning America! NOT... I wish it was like it used to be... just the ocean breezes and some good caribbean music... now that is a cruise...
Cruisin'Trooper Posted October 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Just got off Destiny this morning and saw Liberty parked behind us in Miami. Did not know she was being worked on, looked like a normal embarkation day with people and taxis in front of her terminal.

We spent all our time on the Liberty at the Serenity area to avoid the large screen tv. Been on the Liberty twice and hate the tv. But then we have friends that will only book a cruise if it has a large cruise tv. So I guess to each their own. Glad we were able to get away from it. ibcnusoon Posted October 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2011 I noticed that too! Will be on her on Nov 5 so I have been stalking that cam! Looking forward to seeing the changes and additions. We are on the same cruise! Thanks for the link OP! From John Heald's FB page: So here I am onboard one of my favorite ships, Carnival Liberty. I will get to what's happening in a moment, but I can tell you this, the crew are so excited about their ship getting all these new features. There are 527 non Carnival employees who will be building and designing plus there are 1150 Carnival crew and 170 beards from the head office all of whom are here to make your Carnival Liberty proud to be the first with the sparkling Funship 2.0 upgrades and earlier: I am heading now from the hotel to the Carnival Liberty which will sail tonight at 10:00pm heading for dry dock in Freeport, Bahammas
larkz Posted October 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2011 It would be nice if the 2.0 changes included more powerful and more frequently updated webcams. It's really dumb for Carnival not to provide big showy images to entice potential cruisers. Of course they're still learning how to build an ECommerce website, and how to properly install WiFi with modern satellite feeds on the ships, so I may be hoping for too much...! StingRaysfan Posted October 8, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2011 oh wow... thats interesting how they are taking that big screen apart in pieces. I didn't see it at first but as the big squares disappear to show the skeleton of the mount it's pretty interesting!
ibcnusoon Posted October 8, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2011 John Heald FB: I am off to start filming. Loading is well underway and a huge container was just loaded full of flat screen tvs for each and every cabin. Cheers.

Rare shof515 Posted October 9, 2011 #20 Share Posted October 9, 2011 Looks like she's still in Miami. I thought they were sailing away to Freeport at 10pm? due to weather, they wont be docked in freeport until 7am tomorrow morning. Once she dock in freeport, it will take about 4 hours for the drydock to lift the ship out of the water

Topo Gigio Posted October 9, 2011 #24 Share Posted October 9, 2011 I just got off of the liberty today... hopefully they overhaul the staff as well When a ship is in dry dock the staff who are not on the payroll, won't get any salary for the duration of the dry dock, b/c there are no guests onboard and so no tipping.
