dubaihammer Posted November 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Has anybody ever had a hotel room closer to the ship than this? This photo was taken from our room at the Marco Polo hotel in Hong Kong.

Sequim88 Posted November 4, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 4, 2011 The Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place in Vancouver has to be a close second or maybe even contender. Edit to add we did not stay there. Could not afford it AND the cruise.
jsmeeker Posted November 4, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2011 a very strong contender!
WyKnott Posted November 4, 2011 #12 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Haven't stayed there but the Holiday Inn is directly across the street from the cruise ship terminal.:D http://www.tripadvisor.com/ReviewPhotos-g60750-d80167-r58515794-Holiday_Inn_San_Diego_On_The_Bay-San_Diego_California.html#24403647
Rare silentbob007 Posted November 4, 2011 #13 Share Posted November 4, 2011 There is a hotel in Aukland right next to the port ... when we went out on deck you could see people on their balconies a few feet over.

Edit to add we did not stay there. Could not afford it AND the cruise. When I saw the OP's photo, my first thought was that he was staying in the Pan Pacific. :D The two piers look similar and the buildings looked like Vancouver. OP - What was your ship? mation101 Posted November 4, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 4, 2011 If I woke up and saw that out my window, Im pretty sure I would pee my pants with excitement. When the Mariner used to sail out of San Pedro we would go to the Crowne Plaza for a night just to wake up and see her in port, even when we were not going on her. The hardest part was watching her sail out of port and not being on board.
Mark_K Posted November 4, 2011 #16 Share Posted November 4, 2011 Radiance from our room at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in San Diego. It's probably about 100 yards away, more or less. Click on the thumbnail for a better view. I believe silentbob was on this cruise, but I don't recall if he stayed at the Holiday Inn.

Could not afford it AND the cruise. i stayed there!! got a GREAT rate that was even cancellable thru a travel site...of course, OUR ship was at the Ballantyne pier...but we 'collected' about 10 ships in the 2 days we stayed there....my camera was going nuts! BUT to the OP , that was pretty cool!!
IWORK2CRUISE Posted November 5, 2011 #18 Share Posted November 5, 2011 We stayed at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver. Can't get any closer than this! We had a city/water view so we didn't actually see the ship from our room but we were up earlier than the ship arrival so we watched it come in. skandls Posted November 5, 2011 #19 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Another vote for the Pan Pacific in Vancouver. The hotel staff takes your luggage for you. One elevator ride to checkin.
Texas Teen Posted November 5, 2011 #20 Share Posted November 5, 2011 View from my room at the Harbor House Hotel in Galveston this past July: Not quite as close to the ship as the OP, but still pretty close. :D Sorry Webshots makes the picture quality so bad... lurvecruise Posted November 5, 2011 #21 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Yep another vote for Pan Pacific Vancouver:D. They take all your luggages to your ship because its in the SAME BUILDING!!!:p
Rancher Dave Posted November 5, 2011 #22 Share Posted November 5, 2011 It is the Legend of the Seas and we sailed to Sanya and Vietnam departing from Hong Kong on 23rd October. How about the condo across the street from the pier in Sanya? Did you hear how expensive they cost? WOW... If you like seeing cruise ships those balconies overlooking that side end up pretty darn close to the ship.

pilotboy1985 Posted November 5, 2011 #24 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Here is a picture from my Hotel in Alberta...This must come in a close third in this competition huh? lol. kidding! All serious, I've never stayed in a hotel that close to a cruiseship. I think the closest was the Intercontinental in Miami.
cdncruzer Posted November 5, 2011 #25 Share Posted November 5, 2011 Holiday Inn, San Diego (as others have mentioned) It's not a winner but it's the closest we have been! It's very cool to just walk across the street and hop on.
