A friend of mine who we met on our very first Sea Goddess cruise in January, 1995.

We were very honored to meet ctbjr's friend.

Thats great. Nice that you stayed in touch all these years. Hey, It is not too late to adopt me.

It is amazing how many lifelong friends you make on SD! Mind you Jim, we all had to pay our own way on this charter.

DJ - you have raised the bar this time on the review. GWTW part II will win a Pulitzer if you continue at this level. Fantastic! I feel like I am there (until I look out my office window and remember we are in for rough weather tonight).

FT

Thanks FT:D Not looking forward to the weather coming through at all.

Now back to my lonely writer's garret to work on the next day. (Actually it's the kitchen table:eek:).

Well put, FT. I was thinking the same thing. Even the weather bit. Same due here.

What a perfect trip! So who's up next for some live reporting?

:)

Truly was an incredible trip!

I won't hijack the thread but my only live reporting until we arrive in Vienna in July is to complain about the difficulty/cost in arranging airfare from here to VCE and ATH back home

Ft

You aren't hijacking FT. I can't imagine what air is at this point.

Although the sun rose at 6:43 a.m., DJ’s DH and I slept on those wonderful Frette linens and delightful down pillows until 7:30. We both checked our iPhones and gave thanks for our good fortune as we saw that schools in our county were closed because of snow.

I opened the curtains to find the sun dancing like diamonds on the sapphire waters as we were anchored off Jost.

Flying the BVI Flag.

From our porthole windows it looked like another perfect day for SeaDreaming! Being a work day at home, DJ’s DH procured Wi-Fi the night before the work week. While I puttered around the stateroom DJ’s DH quickly connected with the real world.

We donned our bathing suits, cover ups and hats before heading up to the Office for breakfast with old friends and new friends. Marcus seemed to already understand everyone’s unique routine as we all would arrive at different times and cycle in and out of the Office. DJ’s DH and I had our usual breakfast fare … habits are had to break.

At 8 a.m. yoga class began with Khun Cindy and the Dolphin Encounter Excursion left from the Gangway.

Thanks to Daniel, Cat and Captain S., guests had their choice of Zodiac service to White Bay, home to the Soggy Dollar, and tender service to Great Harbor, home of Foxy’s and many other delightful beach bars and shops, starting at 9 a.m.

DSC02656.jpg

A tender arrives from Great Harbor.

I had my traditional reflexology treatment at 10 a.m. with Khun Jo and was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. The spa team was offering testing of Harnn’s silk body oils, scrubs and butter in the concierge foyer but since I was totally relaxed (okay as relaxed as I can get), I just waved to Concierge Frudelyn (also known as Frud) and Brenda as I made my way to the TOY Bar where I found DJ’s DH in the Office. I grabbed the nearest Bali Bed to soak in the view and the sun.

After enjoying the delicious eggplant parmesan, I wandered down to the bridge to talk to the Captain about the course we would take later in the day to Cooper Island.

DSC02650.jpg

View from the foredeck in front of the bridge of Tortola.

DSC02653.jpg

View from the starboard wing bridge.

Captain S. asked me if I was a sailor and I explained that I had seawater in my veins as my maternal grandfather was an Admiral in the Navy during World War 2. I also explained that we had chartered sailboats with the Moorings in Tortola and sailed these very waters twice on a 38-foot monohull.

We also talked about the common ending to his last name and my maiden name. Interestingly we share a Lithuania connection. I jokingly told him if he needed any help navigating to Anegada I had plenty of experience as I served as navigator on both of our trips to Anegada while bare boating.

Captain S. jokingly told me he expected me on the bridge at 6:30 a.m. to help navigate. Little did he know I would take the invitation seriously.

Having taken enough of the Captain’s time, I headed back to Bali Bed to SeaDream.

While the movie “Something Borrowed” played in the Main Salon at 3 p.m., the captain picked up the anchor and we made our way up a lake-like Sir Frances Drake Channel for an 18-nautical-mile sail to Cooper Island.

Tender service was established at 5 p.m. and ran continuously until 10:30 p.m. In more than 30 trips to the Caribbean this was DJ’s DH’s and my first trip to this delightful spot. Our timing was perfect for happy hour where drinks for 2 for 1.

We soaked in the view from the bar’s delightful patio and watched the sun begin its every so gentle sinking into the sea.

IMG_0654.jpg

The view from the Cooper Island Beach Club Bar.

DJ’s DH and I dipped our toes into the water and were asked by two couples from California if we had disembarked from that gorgeous yacht. We smiled, said yes and asked if they had any questions. We then spent about 30 minutes in the surf talking about our beloved SeaDream and how it compares to chartering a sailboat or catamaran in the BVI. Actually nothing compares to SeaDreaming …

We caught a tender back to the yacht just as the sun started to kiss the ocean.

We missed the cocktail hour pool side as we needed to shower and change for dinner. This evening we decided to dine at a table for just two and to enjoy a bottle of Veuve Cliquot off the wine list.

With the lights of Tortola and St. John competing with a star filled sky we were served a wonderful dinner by Olivier and Mark and attentive wine service from Xander. We used one of our 15-percent off returning SeaDreamer coupons for the wine.

When we arrived at the dessert course, Olivier asked if I would like the Chocolate Fondant again as he knows it was one of my favorites. We asked if we could have our dessert delivered to the Office as we DJ’s DH was most comfortable there. As we have come to expect on SD the answer was “But of course.”

We arrived at the TOY Bar to watch Daniel and Cat set up for Salsa and Samba Night. Cat looked quite the Latin dancer part even though he is Romanian! The new special effect lights were very cool as they were set to the music.

Gideon yet again took excellent care of us by making an ice pack for DJ’s DH as well as a pour of Grand Marnier to go with our most excellent desserts.

Once again we made it an early evening and bypassed the casino and the Piano Bar. Our turndown service included a red rose and the next day’s itinerary.

Tucked in the harbor at Cooper Island sleep once again came quickly.

I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise as the ship made it way ever so gently from Cooper Island to Anegada. The seas were so calm I could hardly tell we were making 11 knots. I know the ship’s speed and course as I was on the bridge with the Chief Engineer and First Officer at 6:30 a.m. sharp, just as Captain S. requested.

DSC02659.jpg

Sunrise on the way to Anegada

DJ’s DH as well as most of the other passengers were still asleep, as well as the Captain who had a 7 a.m. wake-up call. I left the bridge and was asked to return around 7:45 a.m. as we were scheduled to anchor off Anegada at 8 a.m.

DSC02658.jpg

Anegada in the distance from the starboard bridge wing

Since I had already been on the bridge to see the course, I enjoyed my coffee from the foredeck toward the starboard side. While silently giving thanks for another gorgeous day I head a tapping on the bridge window. I turned around to see Capt. S motioning for me to join him on the bridge.

I made my way to the port side bridge entrance, asked permission to enter and said good morning to the captain. He jokingly chastised me for not being on the bridge to help navigate. I told him I was on the bridge when he got his wake up call at 7 a.m. and that I felt he could handle it from here. He double checked with the officers on duty and they confirmed my presence. He then told me that I had been promoted from navigator to his number two.

Captain told me if I continued to provide good weather and navigation that he would have a special gift for me at the end of the cruise. I assured him I was up to the challenge. We all laughed and I headed to the Office for breakfast to let the professionals handle navigating around the shallows and coral that surround the atoll known as Anegada.

Having navigated the waters around Anegada on a 38-foot sailboat, DJ’s DH and I know how extremely skilled a captain and his crew have to be to find an anchorage for a yacht, especially one as big as SD.

We anchored almost two miles out with some 9 feet of water under the keel. DJ’s DH and I were extremely impressed with the skill of the captain to secure SD1 in such shallow and coral reef filled water.

While the gang of usual suspects cycled in and out of the Office for breakfast Khun Jo led the Yoga Class al fresco and the Independent Explorer 4x4 left the gangway.

Since DJ’s DH and I had been to Anegada several times we knew we wanted to head to Cow Wreck and visit with Belle at the Cow Wreck Bar and Grill. SeaDream scheduled a complimentary shuttle (open air taxi) that was scheduled to leave on the hour from the pier from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the half-hour from Cow Wreck Beach from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

DJ’s DH and I took the 10 a.m. shuttle while the ctbjrers and the TOYBarers took the next shuttle. Our new friends, C and H had taken the first shuttle and had a wonderful shaded spot for our group.

When we left the ship they were having an issue with the toilets on board. We were told by passengers who remained on-board, that it was quickly resolved.

For those guests who decided not to disembark, Daniel offered the Dream Showcase at 10:30 a.m. in the Main Salon.

The showcase included:

Spa Team with La Prairie, Harnn, Thalgo Products and Mini Massages

Housekeeping and their towel creations

Crepes cooking demo

Sommelier and his wine tasting techniques

Casino manager sharing the secrets of Black Jack

Interactive napkin folding

Shop Manager shows souvenir items from the boutique

Although many of us were on the island at lunchtime there were several who preferred to stay on board and enjoy lunch at the Topside Restaurant.

From the Cold Buffet:

Poached Salmon

Fresh Imperial Oysters

Roast Turkey Breast

Black Forest Ham

Tossed Salad Prepared a la Minute:

Chef Salad

Apple and Cheese Salad

White Asparagus Salad

Cow Wreck Beach is one of our favorite beaches in the world. Not much has changed on this beach since we first visited it some 20 years ago.

There is one family owned restaurant/bar that offers the best grilled Caribbean lobster which was just caught on the other side of the island. It also offers an honor bar where you write your name and tally your drinks.

While DJ’s DH settled into a chair with a Presidente, I headed west for a two-mile walk to the point at Walkover Set Bay to soak in the sun, sea and sights. It was a lovely walk along an unspoiled beach where I felt like I was the only person in the world … a peaceful calm came over me as I felt the soothing waters of Mother Ocean splash around my feet.

DSC02665.jpg

Looking west toward Walkover Set Bay

Upon my return to our encampment I saw that Belle had her hands full with all the customers. Having spent my college years as a waitress and knowing the lay of the land I offered to hop behind the bar and take food orders as Belle managed the kitchen. There were several others who joined in the fun of making their own drinks and serving fellow guests. One guest in particular mastered the art of making Painkillers.

As I made sure that our happy band of travelers was well cared for Mr. Toybar decided that my waitress name should be Veronica … as to why, you’ll have to ask him:confused:

IMG_0664.jpg

Life is good!

As lunchtime rolled around three couples, including us, ordered whole lobsters that were grilled with butter, lemon and garlic and came with French Fries and Coleslaw. Talk about a food that fills your soul!

We continued enjoying the surf and sun until 2:30 when it was finally time for the gang to head back to the yacht.

IMG_0666.jpg

One last look at Cow Wreck ... until we see you again.

There was a bit of a shuttle snafu but eventually two arrived and whisked us over sandy road and a new concrete road to the pier where we waited for what seemed like forever for a tender. While we weren’t quite on island time, it was obvious that the belongers (folks who live on the island) know the secret to life is to slow down Mon!

The slow tender ride back to the ship was beautiful as Mrs. TOYBar spotted a full rainbow and pointed it out to everyone.

After arriving back at the yacht we were greeted with cool wash clothes.

Everyone headed in separate directions and I headed to the Office to where Brian cleaned my sunglasses and I enjoyed my book, sparkling water and a Perfect Martini thanks to Xander. I ordered a cheese plate for one and it quickly appeared.

Just as scheduled, Captain. S pulled up the anchor at 6 p.m. for the 139-nautical mile sail to Charlestown, Nevis.

Since there were so many of us who are SeaDreamers, all guests were invited to the SeaDream Yacht Club Party hosted by the Captain in the Main Salon. Interestingly, he did not recognize one individual for the most nights sailed but gave the statistics on our total nights sailed in SD’s 10-year history. It was quite impressive.

Our group of 10 finished our cocktails and headed to our usual table for 10 on Deck 4 Aft where we enjoyed yet again another delicious meal prepared by Executive Chef Virender Singh and his team.

An Indian Flare onboard SeaDream – Indian cuisine is as diverse as its people and geography. Indian food has evolved over the centuries and has flourished under the many rules India had. The result is centuries of patronage to the art of cooking and a repertoire of delicious recipes. As I come from India, I would like to share this history and nuances of Indian Cuisine so the very common misconception about Indian food being everything Curry or Hot can be replaced by “A Fine Cuisine with Spices and Taste.” I hope you will enjoy a small selection of Indian Cuisine put together to suit your palate! ~ Sudesh (Sudesh Kishore is the Corporate Chef).

After dinner activities included a sing along in the piano bar, games of chance in the casino and the movie “The Artist” in the Main Salon.

Many of us went our separate ways while DJ’s DH and I headed to the TOY Bar where Gideon poured us our post prandial Grand Marniers and made an ice pack for DJ’s DH. We watched the stars dance in the sky from a Bali Bed as we ever so gently made our way south.

DJ’s DH joked with me that I had set a new record this trip. I was off the yacht three days in a row. I assured him that I would not being leaving the yacht in St. Bart’s which brought a sigh of relief from his wallet.

We made our way back to our stateroom and once again found that Lucy had worked her magic. Sitting on the perfectly turned down bed was this evening’s gift, the new SD brochure.

As we ever so slowly steamed our way toward Nevis on water like glass we nodded off to sleep.

I want to go to Cow Wreck beach now. It's GORGEOUS! I might even be persuaded to do another Caribbean cruise instead of the Med.

More great reports. I am so jealous. Have never made Anegada on any of the three SD voyages it was scheduled. Waves never permitted. Moved back on the list after these pictures.

Cow Wreck is gorgeous but I am sorry to report that it won't be showing up on any SD itineraries any time soon according to my sources.

I don't know about the rest of you that have traveled with us on SD, but having lived this SeaDream multiple times with DisneyJen, I can honestly say that her verbiage and photos are so accurate and concise, that every time I read her postings, I am back in the reality of the paradise we experienced..

Thanks, DJ!!!
