Overview of drink packages

Exactly. Experimenting with different drinks and hanging out in bars was something I did in my youth. Now I'm perfectly content sticking with my favourites, most of which I can get with the Classic package. :)

Enjoy being conservative and sticking with what you know and like. I'm sure the left hand side of the menu in the MDR will suit you just fine. In the meantime, there will be others who enjoy broadening their horizons when they vacation by sampling new foods in the MDR and new drinks in the Molecular Bar.

Hope you enjoy your Classic package on the Eclipse.

Not so! I enjoy culinary experimentation, whether eating out or preparing new dishes in the kitchen. You just put far more emphasis on booze as a source of enjoyment than do I! :D

With the lack of comedy clubs and piano bars on X, it seems like the entertainment choices at night time are at the Martini and Molecular Bars. Besides, if trying new foods while vacationing can be a source of satisfaction, there is no reason that sampling new alcoholic concoctions can also be a source of enjoyment. They go hand in hand, IMHO. I have eaten in restaurants that serve the same quality food that X serves, but I have not experienced something similar to what is offered at the Molecular Bar, and that is one of the aspects of our cruise next year on the Silhouette that I am looking most forward to.

Chacun à son goût. Enjoy your cruise!

I have tried to look through the thread but can't find the answer to my question.

Does the classic alcohol package include canned sodas?

Sure does! I went through many Diet Cokes during our week on the Reflection.

I'm about to spend £800 for the two of us, On £to US dollar this works out At 1200 US dollars for a drink package for 12 days which I'm struggling to find out if it worth it , this is for the classic package no 123 package has been offered even though we book the cruise in January.

We are alright with the unspecialised lagers vodka etc peasants I know lol.

Last year we did a 14 day cruise on holland America they were doing drink cards for 200 US dollars which gave you 250 drink credit we used two of them which to be honest I think it would be a better system.

The original post was from 2012. Have those prices gone up and will they go up for 2014? Also, there was no mention of Corona or Corona light, or Miller Lite or Coors Lite. Are these available? Thanks.

Coronoa was available on our Reflection cruise two weeks ago. Don't drink the others so I cannot comment.

Yes--available, but those are the yellow fizzzy things you don't have to drink if you get the premium and then enjoy the 60 or so great microbrews Michael's club offers.;)

So the craft beers are only available through the premium package, even if they are priced under $5? I guess there are no craft beers priced under $5?

Just like the mixed drinks and wine, the Premium limit on beer is 12.00. There are a total of 37 choices on the Michael's List that are between 6.00-12.00 that qualify under the Premium, but not the Classic. There are 13 choices that are 5.00 and under that do qualify under the Classic. Finally, there are 10 choices that are over 12.00, and if you do decide to purchase one of these and if you have the Premium package, you will be charged the difference over 12.00, plus the 15% gratuity.

Assuming that the Michael's that you'll be visiting has all of the varieties in stock, you'll be able to sample 50 different beers if you have the Premium package with no upcharge involved.

Going on Celebrity Millenium 2014. Do both people in the cabin have to have a drinks package?

Since you're from down under, I have to infer that your sailing was not booked under the 123 go promotion that was available here in the states. With that assumption in place, then no, both people in the cabin do not have to purchase the package.

What are the best drink mixers available to the classic alcohol package? I am a fan on vodka and tonic, vodka and sprite, jack and coke etc

Has anyone got any tips to get the best out of the classic package?

My question is if you purchase a classic beverage card, but end up on some days consuming more than the daily rate charged for the card, are you charged for the extra drinks you consumed? We do not usually drink alot but we will be on vacation and I am sure it can or will get away from us on occasion if the drinks are tasting real good.

There is no limit on the number of drinks you consume, only the price of the drink. :) Also, you can only order 1 drink at a time. :(

What does a corkage fee run?

As I recall, $25. There is no charge for wine purchased from Celebrity. Also, you can open a bottle in your room and carry the glass to the dining room.

Agree that Premium is the way to go. We upgraded and paid the $10 extra per person, per day + 15 percent gratuity for our Reflection cruise that ended last Saturday. Cost was $161 for my husband and myself. I kept a daily log of what we drank. For the week's cruise, it totaled $1,005.

Did you upgrade before your cruise or is this something you do on the ship? We were given the Classic Pkg as part of our "perks" from the TA we booked with. Wondering if I could upgrade ahead of time for the extra $161 or if it is only done onboard...or if we can even upgrade since it was a "perk". I don't even see the drink package on my cruise details online.

Not sure we'd upgrade, but should we decide to it would be nice if the option to change it before boarding was available.

Thanks in advance!

Kelane :)

Shouldn't be a problem onboard. Consider waiting to see if it is necessary to upgrade. You may not need to depending on how you feel after a few days.

Thanks! Our itinerary is long port days with only 1 sea day. I question if I'll even want to drink after being on an island all day!!

Good to know that the upgrade can be made after I've had a chance to experience the classic.

Thanks so much for your reply!

The upgrade, if you do it, will be pro rated.
