What happens with a death at sea (& kudos to NCL)

Oh I am so sorry for your loss. Such a sad thing to have happen anytime, but I hadn't thought about being away from home and having to go through all those procedures in a strange location. I can imagine everyone was in a state of shock, and my heart hurts for you all having to experience this sad event.

One eerie thing is that I had posted here about a local news report saying that there was an unusually sad situation at Port Canaveral of 3 deaths coming in on cruise ships in 3 days - of course I never dreamed it would involve a CC'er, and that hits home how "connected" we really are here....

Please take care, and may many fond memories strengthen you and your family.

I am so very sorry about the loss of your beloved father. You are very strong to be able to come on here and write about what happened.

DH and I love NCL, wouldn't consider cruising with any other line. What happened with your father and your family just re-iterates that fact.

Again, I am so sorry for the passing of your father. You are in my prayers.

I am sorry for your loss. Reading that your dad had cruised before I would imagine that this would have been one way he might have wanted to go. I am so glad to hear that you and your family were treated so kind and with such care and respect. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

I am so sorry for your loss and , may I say, how hard it must have been to write about it, but I am sure it gave you a little piece of closure to tell your tale. It was nice to hear that the NCL staff treated you and your family with such kindness and respect. My eyes welled up when you wrote about the crew taking off thier hats out of respect for your father. I hope it is comforting to know he left this world doing something he loved to do. Thank you for telling your story. May you all find peace.

Thank you both for sharing this with all of us at CC. May he rest in peace. Prayers going out for you and your family, that they may continue to remember the good times spend with your Dad. He had to have been a very loving man to have raised such beautiful daughters. Peace....

Deeply sorry to hear about your loss. Remember the wonderful memories that you have of your Dad and he will never truly be gone. The next time you are cruising go out into the night and look up at the stars in the heavens and know that he is shining down upon you. God bless you and your family.

My sincerest condolences to you and your whole family.

Our friend died on the Gem a few weeks ago. She had just spent a beautiful day in Nassau. She also died in her cabin during the night. All the wonderful people who helped you on the Jewel have counterparts on the Gem. People such as Rodel Gemeniano, Guest Services Manager, were so helpful to the family.

The funeral home had a car at the pier in N.Y. ready to accept the body. The family was escorted off the Gem before other passengers disembarked. They raved about the crew just as you reported.

I agree with others that your father died on his own terms, with family nearby, and relaxing on a lovely cruise. God bless you all!

Sheila

I echo the others before me with my sympathies and thoughts of you and your family.

We will be on the Jewel in Sept. On every cruise DH, my BFF and I always have a special drink together to toast friends and family that are no longer with us. Be assured that this time we will include your Dad in our special toast this time as well.
