There are areas in the casino where you can smoke. I'm neither a player nor a smoker so I don't know if you have to gamble to smoke. There must be good ventilation because sensitive non-smokers walked through frequently without concern. Also Satchmo's bar.

They shoo you away if smoking and not gambling.

Hello!

Sailing on the Legend in 38 days!

Wondering if I should expect the weather in ports to be very humid and hot?

Also... Have an aft balcony booked. Some have commented that there is no air movement on aft balconies. Wondering if I would be wise to bring a battery operated fan for the balcony?

Last question.... Anyone have experience with tendering off the ship in Belize? We don't have a CCL excursion booked but hope to get off the ship on earlliest tender. Is this unrealistic?

Thanks for any help you can give:)

Hot and very humid. Take a hand towel to dry off...

Carnival excursions tender first so earliest tender is out. It's a great port to book an excursion for zip lining or cave tubing as the port is no big deal and don't wander from from the tender area as it's not real safe.

  • 3 weeks later...
There are 2 obstructed view cabins that have 60 foot balconies (a reg balcony is 20 feet). U have to book way in advance to get them, but it is worth it. We had one that cost us $40 each more than an inside cabin. We had 2 lounge chairs and 2 reg chairs with a couple of tables. The balconies are not very wide but you have great views. 5236 is on the port side not sure of the other number.

dot

60 ft. is 6 stories. No balconies that long. 5238 and 5236 are really long. 5245 is also longer than regular.

(We're on same roll call!)

* Don’t forget the Fun Farewell on the last day where you get free drinks. Ours was in the Firebird Lounge at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday (last night).

* If you enjoy on-the-spot comedy (which I do), don’t miss the Wee Jimmy show that is live every morning on your stateroom TV, channel 27. My husband and I both thought he was funnier than the stand up comedian in Follies Lounge.

* There is a floorplan of the Lido buffet at the entrance. Familiarize yourself with the areas to quickly find your favorite choices. Here is a picture of the floorplan...

* I recommend eating breakfast in the MDR - it is more relaxing and you still have good options. If you do not prefer to do this every day, I strongly recommend trying it on the last day before debarkation. It is much less crazy than the lido buffet! If you do eat in the MDR for breakfast or lunch and you don’t want to share a table with strangers, just ask for a “table for 2” or how many ever in your party. They will honor your request.

* Do yourself a favor and visit the Enchanted Forest. We really enjoyed the quiet area and it was the ideal place to wait for our debarkation zone to be called

No more fun and farewell party. Carnival did away with them

The Enchanted Forest pic reminded me of a question about an Ocean View - are the portholes the same size as those in the Forest?

No, unfortunately they are much smaller. I will post a pic of PT from Dream...

We have sailed on the Legend twice. Once premium balcony and once aft. Both are beautiful and get a wonderful breeze. The Legend is our favorite ship (so far, sailing on the Liberty in Sept for 2.0) Hoping that our daughter gets married on the Legend next year. Belize is beautiful but stay only in the port if you do not have an excursion. Very scary place. Roatan though is very beautiful and we did a tour there outside the port. It was great. We live in Pinellas Park and watch the Legend go under the Skyway all the time. Be sure you are up on deck when she goes under. It is amazing! Have a great time.

Thank you for the info! I can't wait to get on the ship in just 5 days:)

I have heard many people say that they love the Legend (and Spirit class)

Good luck with the wedding plans for your daughter... Exciting stuff. Maybe she can get married in beautiful Roatan and then you can all celebrate on the beautiful Legend:)

Just off the Legend on Sunday. They had the new taste bar (food tastings only - no recommended drinks to purchase - at least not by the food!) instead of the sushi. They only had this 3 nights, the other 4 nights the area was dark. There was no fun farewell party on last sea day. We had our ice bucket filled twice daily w/o asking.

This also was probably the last sailing with the 'old' platinum perks. I received the tote bag, laundry every day, and free slot entry. I guess the new program rolled out on 71 (6/25 was the official roll out date, we sailed on 6/24).

That's too bad the tasting replaces the sushi. Really a shame about the Fun Farewell Party, the best party on the ship.

For recent cruisers, who was the CD?

The CD was James Dunn

Agreed. We really enjoyed the sushi as well. How was the food?

The food was so so. I really haven't enjoyed it too much since they changed to the newer menu. It's about what was expected. Steak house was great.

Comedians - I don't know if it's that I'm getting jaded or what, but the comedy left something to be desired. First part of the cruise we had Ed Regine and Valerie Storm. Since it was soo stormy the first night, the Welcome Aboard show was cancelled, and they had the two comedians do a family show. Valerie left a lot to be desired. But she was good compared to Ed Regine! His routine consisted of telling the list of lame questions asked to the CDs! We didn't even bother to go see their adult comedy.

The second set of comedians were Marc Rubben and John Caponera. Mark was funny - a ventroliquist, along the lines of Jeff Dunham. We've seen him before, and he was still funny - a new routine than what we've seen previously. John Caponera on the other hand... We saw him on two previous cruises. He did the SAME EXACT routine as he did the other times. He seriously needs to get some new material.

Great to get info from those who have been there. My bride of 40+ years and I will be as elegant as we can be on those nights. Where are the best locations on the ship for portrait type photos? Is the ship photographer set up in just one place?

Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk 2

Hi, they have all the usual spots for photos, but our photos were hideous on our last cruise on the Legend. They have a fine portrait service called Dreams, Raquel is the photographer and she was wonderful (a real photographer) the photo shoot is free and you just buy the photos, Raquel will take you all over the ship and she does amazing pictures, if you have time check it out, it was a really fun experience. I attached some pictures that she took.

What sort of things were offered at the "Tastings?"

The first night was from Blue Iguana Cantina. Since we were going to the steakhouse that night, I didn't really look to see what they had. Another day they had from the steakhouse - tasting was some fried thing with short rib filling, and a soup if I recall. Last one they did was Cucinia del Capitano - they had ricotta bruschetta and a meatball.

CruisinNJ, you must have sailed into Tropical Storm Debby. Did the Legend stay pretty smooth through that? How long did it last?

Yes, we had the pleasure of sailing thru Debbie. It was rough the first night, and still rainy but not as rough on Monday. Once we got to the ports, weather was wonderful.

We were on there 2 weeks before you. We thought the entertainment was generally bad. The singer in the atrium every night needs to retire. No one was paying him a bit of attention. The Welcome Aboard show was so lame, we skipped the rest of the "productions." We had late seating, so all the shows were before dinner. We choose late seating to extend our day out by the pool. We couldn't be bothered going in early to make a 7:00 show. Of all the entertainment, we enjoyed the Love & Marriage show hosted by the CD the best. Our CD was Kirk, but he finished his time on Legend with our cruise. Food was good during our cruise, but we also had the head chef for the fleet on board for the week, so he seemed to have everyone on their toes.

Ah yes.. The great guy in the lobby who pushed a button and attempted to sing along. No one paid him any attention that I saw either. I said to my daughter that he needed to retire - I guess we think alike!

We had Kirk a few times as our CD when we sailed the Pride. I did like him. The shows were new to us - Jazz Hot and The Big Easy. We thought they were very good.

We need to know what's on the menu the first night in the MDR.

We have never sailed under the Skyway Bridge and have early dining.

If it's the same old, same old, we will skip the MDR and stay up on deck.

We were told that the sushi wasn't being replaced--just being moved to the salad bar area on Lido in the evening. It actually makes more sense to have it there. The old location is far away from all other food areas except the coffee shop, but they have a 2nd coffee shop on Lido as well.

I can't remember the details, but I know I chose the flat iron steak off of the everyday menu because I didn't see anything I wanted on the daily menu. The flat iron steak wasn't very good. The meals on all remaining nights were good.

If the weather's nice, I'd skip the MDR and stay out on deck to see the bridge--especially if you've never done it.

Hope that's right. I don't even like sushi but I like what the ships do.
