Nellie's Cabana question...

Then again the one you was assigned might not be the one you would want. Like me I do not want number 3 or 4 as I heard the steps that lead down to the water that the water is deep. I have small kids and would prefer my steps lead to shallow water. So I would be happy if I was assigned 3 or 4 and someone switched me with one of the others.

If I did get 3 or 4 would I be mad NO I would make the best of it, as I got what I booked a cabana over the water.

I bet if someone got the cabin they preasssigned you, because they arrived before you, I bet you will never even know it, as when you arrive they will just tell you you are assigned to ?. I do not think they would say oh you had cabana number 4 but we had to switch you to 6, because someone has asked for that one.

I plan to call and confirm which cabana I have been assigned as soon as I get on board! I would definitely be mad if that changed when we got to Labadee because I was on the zip line instead of coming to the cabanas RIGHT when we docked...

Does anyone know if you are staying in a suite how long in advance (7/13 sailing) do you have to reserve a cabana (over the water) on Barefoot ? From what I see on here you can reserve one at Nellies online so I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance.

We would have made you mad then ;)

We arrived, the first guests to do so and were not happy with our cabana.

It was right down on the waters edge nearest the beach.

We asked to move the the highest - furthest right cabana. His words "first come first served, so no problem we can move you"

My tip get there soon via the golf cart..

MagnetChief - when was this? As of June, poeple posting (and on my Oasis cruise) confirmed that they were told the cabanas were assigned ahead of time.

Seriously though, I'm probably just going to cancel the zip line tour we have booked then. I don't want to spend the 2 hours it takes to get ready, do the first run, go up hill to do the second run, etc. and then find out I have a cabana other than what I was promised. $180 saved though!

We have one reserved for our September cruise, and this is how I understood it worked too.

First come, first served. ;) I was planning on being there first thing in the AM to "select" the Cabana.

My DW will roll in later.

I will say that I know of at least one CC member who cruised on the FOS about one month ago, and they echo this same experience:

...plus one other that the same experience on an undisclosed date:

Either way we'll be there bright and early for our arrival, you can be sure of that; in fact we can always get a bit more sleep once we are in the cabana ;)

Hearing a lot about "first come first served" on the cabanas has me wondering --- on our confirmation that we have reserved a beach cabana it states that our time is 9 AM. Since the ship docks at 8 AM should I just get off the ship ASAP or wait to show up for the 9 AM time in order to get the cabana I want.

Karen ,Im going to get off early to beat you to it:D LOL

Mimi

Mimi, you probably will beat me to the cabanas. :) We will have our 7-year old granddaughter in tow and she sometimes drags her feet. I'm thinking we will have to tell her parents to give her a little extra push to get her up and going when it comes to Labadee.

Question for you: Did your confirmation show a 9 AM time as well?????

You won't get in without the escort there, who has the wrist bands and the sheet of confirmed bookings. They show up at 9am at the end of the dock.

This thread reminds me of the parking lot experience I just had trying to get parked at Costco !:D:D

Anyways......I am going to have a great time no matter which cabana they put me in, not going to kill myself or "go to bed early" to make sure I get the first choice lol. I am on vacation ! They all look pretty nice to me !

I think that we should be able to book a specific cabana when we reserve and pay for it. That way it would truly be "first come, first served." I will be ok with any of the over-the-waters, but I can see why some families would want certain cabanas -- sun vs. shade; closest to the sand for the little ones vs. best view; the cluster of 4 on the right vs. the others on the left. It seems a shame that I may be "assigned" the one you want and you may be "assigned" the one I want!! It's not like any one is better than the rest -- everyone may have a different opinion on that!

I agree. On another note, I don't understand why we are not given an assigned cabana number when we make our reservation -- we have paid for the cabana, so why not give us the number.

Yes Nellie's cabanas are for anyone that books them online. FYI, from what I understand the excursion desk holds about 30% of the cabanas for booking once you are on board. So don't be upset if you cannot book online. Just make sure you go directly to the excursion desk upon boarding to book your cabana. They always go fast!

What are the chances of getting one when u get on board. We plan on being there early. I called RC and they said u had to do it on board. Any tips on how to get one before hand. (I'm not in a suite and only gold member),

My group really wants one of these. At this point I don't care whic one it is.

Thanks for any help.

I agree ! I've already booked a Nellie's beach cabana for 5/7/13. I'm going to try to surprise my sister so she'll wonder why I'm pushing and pulling her off the ship. lol

Also, I think there are only 2 lounge chairs with each cabana so if you have 4,5,6 people, there's going to be some pushing and pulling in the cabana, too!:)

I agree too, especially when 2 ships will be there like the day we are there and were the second ship to dock. We have 2 otw booked for Nellies each but we need them next to each other. Im hoping we can talk to someone at the excursion desk when we board to see if we can get specific ones.....

We were on the 8/4 sailing on Oasis and had an Over the Water Cabana. The ARE pre-assigned. The golf cart takes you to a guy with a clip board who has your assigned cabana on his sheet. We had one with steps that went down into the water maybe 2 feet from the edge of the beach. We had 4 in our party, had an amazing day! There are electrical outlets in the cabana so you can bring your electronics if you want. The upgraded buffet was very good. The steak was simply delicious. The attendant brought drinks and there was a cooler with 3 or 4 large bottles of Evian, that we ended up taking back on the ship. A

So, we had bought a beer bag on the ship on Sunday, and we were allowed to take the beers we had left in it to the cabana with us. Used the cooler already in the cabana to keep them cold. All in all a GREAT day and $200 well spent! Definitely get off of the ship early, but only to make the most of your time in the cabana. We got there early and left at the last possible minute.

Hey everyone!! I really want one of the cabanas. The question I have is if they will count a 2 year old as one of the 6 maximum? Basically my sister, her hubs, our bestie and her hubs and me want the cabana. My mom and dad are on the cruise too but my dad mainly stays on the ship (happy as a clam) but my Mom might like to come out. Would they be ok with 6 adults and a 2 year old in the cabana? If we all get in will they tell my mom to take a hike if she wants to visit but not have the buffet? The beach isn't private right? So if she is on the beach and we bring her up to our cabana is our waiter really going to say GTFO? :D

I have seen several questions similar to this and really wonder what RCCL does in these situations. The excursions page reads maximum of 6. However, I can certainly see two sides to this issue.

If others are getting more than 6 into a cabana, will you please post here to let us know?

I promise to do an annoyingly long and detailed cruise review when I get back and I'll take a ton of pics of the cabana (If I can get it!) and if we were able to use it. :D
