I would recommend not putting anything heavier than a t-shirt or shorts in the overhead bins. On our January cruise on the Equinox, the first night, when we went to bed, the bins were shut tight. We ran into rough seas overnight and in the morning, they were wide open. I've heard of people using them for mementos and, depending on the item, that could be problematic if they fell out.

That said, for 2 adults on a 12-night cruise, we had plenty of storage room.

I had the bedside table with the telephone and I moved it to the lower shelf so I could keep my glasses, watch, etc., on top where I could find them. The only problem with this was that one night, I was awakened by the phone light flashing in my eyes--we had a message from the casino inviting us to come down and throw away some money. I complained to guest relations the next day, but I'm not sure they could do anything about it.

As far as I remember, shower gel is only supplied in Concierge class and above. The first time we thought the cabin steward had just missed it, but he said we were not supposed to have any in a regular balcony cabin. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion were regularly replenished and were of a good standard.

Hi Sheila:)I have had "regular cabins" on the S class and there

has been shower gel in there. Wonder If I got it by mistake?

Depending on type of SR, some S-Class are larger than their M- Class counterpart. For example, the S-Class verandas are 194sq ft and the M-Class is 175sq ft or thereabouts.

The S- Class have smaller closets in the standard SR, the bed stands don't have drawers and are smaller. They do have over-the-bed storage which is large but some people complain they are hard to get to.

Personally we've made 2-week cruises and extended B2B cruises and found the storage to be quite fine.

The closets met our needs as did the drawers. I would have liked drawers in the bed stands instead of open bins but found the rest OK.

And I don't think I fibbed too many times.

"Adequate" amount of storage space is about as subjective as "good" food. :D On the Solstice Class ships the Veranda/Concierge Class staterooms have "THREE" drawers, a smallish closet and a large storage cabinet centered over the head of the bed. There is a "nice" amount of storage in the bathroom.

In my opinion, the only "down-side" to these lovely ships.

We had it on Solstice in CC and regular balcony, but on our two most recent S class (Eclipse) cruises last year we were were told it was no longer supplied. It seemed like a rather petty change to us (well to me, DH prefers soap).

If you read my post you quoted, I did not use the term "Adequate" and I posted: "Personrally we've made 2-week cruises and extended B2B cruises and found the storage to be quite fine." I believe the term 'Personally' defines my post as being subjective....just as yours is. So I'm not sure what point you were tryng to make by pointing out the obvious, that my statement is "subjecitve".

Eclipse definitely doesn't supply it in cabins lower than CC. That was my first cruise in a 1A and I too thought the cabin attendant had just forgot it. I was informed that it was not available in that cabin category.

On my next Eclipse sailing, I'll bring my own. I agree, this is petty and not the premium experience one has been led to expect on Celebrity.

So many negative reports regarding cabin storage space and the size of balcony cabins on the Eclipse. How do these cabins compare in size and space to those on the Constellation, Summit and Millinium? Thanks for respondindg...

You did not say what type of stateroom you were going to be in. DH and I have (so far) only been in Aqua (except once we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a sky suite - which was huge) we have always feel we have had plenty of room-and I usually overpack a bit :D. I feel that the bathroom has plenty of storage and so does the room, you just need to be organized about putting things away. I miss drawers in the nightstand-a LOT and I would like more drawer space, but we do find space for everything. I do always take gowns & DH always takes his tux and 2 shirts. There is plenty of room under the bed for the empty luggage. We never have any problem as long as we keep things organized. We bring one of those cheap pop-up laundry hampers to keep our dirty clothes out-of the way also; we take a small, cheap, plastic tray to keep all of our keys, change, husband's wallet, sunglasses, etc. organized. I hope this helps you so that you can worry about what is important: order a drink from the Lawn Bar, put up your feet, smile and relax!:D

We sailed on the Equinox in 2009 on it's maiden US sailing and loved it. We then sailed on the Connie again and then the Millie last year. We booked the Eclipse for this December while on the Millie and I can't wait to get back on the bigger ship even though it will have more passengers. In regard to storage, I managed to find a spot for everything although this time we are taking an over the door shoe bag just to keep them off the closet floor or top shelf and in easy view. I am under 5 ft so the overhead storage is a little rought. I put the least used items up there. I did love the storage in the BR and had extra space in there. The shower door is nice but a tight fit for some. My DH said he would "just soap up the walls and spin around". It does beat the shower curtain that I had to clip to the shower frame everytime we took a shower on the Connie and the Millie.

I also try not to complain about anything while being on a cruise!

We had no problem storing clothing for a two week transatlantic crossing on Equinox. I personally liked the shelves above the bed - you can see everything very well. I also really liked that the closet was not in the "hallway" just inside the door, so my other half could open and close bathroom door and stateroom door without impeding my ability to access the closets. Yes, there are fewer drawers on the S-Class ships...

The bathrooms are a MAJOR improvement. So much storage! And the shower is wonderful.

I also felt the size of the balcony was larger, easily allowing someone to walk in front of another person who was seated in a chair.

As for me, I'd sail on either class ship with no complaints!

Joe nailed it! I agree 100%.

Enjoy!

I took some of the lightweight cubes with handles and they fit perfectly in the over the bed storage. Fold completely flat and slid into the pocket of my large suitcase. Put bathing suits, socks, underwear and lightweight items in and handles made for easy access to pull down from over bed storage.

This thread talks about them: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1569578&referrerid=422315

I purchased ours online at Amazon

Great idea - I use the Eagle Creek packing things but they don't work as well as the folding cube would, but they are great for organizing my suitcase. Tradeoff I guess - now I'm going to covet folding cubes.

I bring a little leather jewelry tray that has corners that snap so it packs flat but makes a little tray - to put my hearing aids in and my watch and any little thing that might get misplaced. It lives on the cabinet under the TV. I think I need something for the bedside, too, but there is a law of diminishing returns. The more packing organizers you take, the less "stuff" you can take to put in the organizers unless you are fortunate enough to drive to a port.

I'm worried about our next cruise because we are taking a little plane so our regular roll-aboards don't fit and I'll have to take a smaller carry-on to augment my regular suitcase which is just about at capacity anyway. Yikes.

Thanks for the great response....We usually book Concierge Class and have never been lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite! We, too, would miss the drawers in the nightstands as well as the drawers in the closet area. Looking forward to our next cruise which will probably be on Eclipse.

We have not travelled on M class (yet), but have seven S class cruises which include three B2Bs with 27 and 28 day sailings. We have never found any problem with storage although we make full use of the over-the-bed cabinets. I put the most used items near the edge of the bed so I can reach them easily. I am 5'3" and a senior citizen and had no difficulty with this. The bathroom storage is very generous and we had no need for the recommended over-the-door storage we took. The night tables are not great, but I make sure to have the side without the phone! You wouldn't want to have any 'personal' items beside the bed since it is all on view! There is just room for my book and glasses on the top shelf. S class is our first choice when we are booking a cruise and we have to have a compelling reason to choose something different, like travelling with friends who prefer another line.

BIB - not sure if it would be possible with the bed near the balcony as, so far, we have always had bed near bathroom but I just moved the phone from the bedside unit on to the end of the sofa which gave me a bit more space.

For me and talking the regular cabins I find that the storage is not that great in the cabin itself and the wardrobe can be awkward to get to because of it's placement, especially the side nearest the wall. Seems a bit cramped. Over-bed storage notwithstanding they aren't that great in my opinion.

The bathrooms are a huge improvement. More storage, better shower cubicle and controls and the night light is very useful. The mirrors I think are advertised as no fog and for the most part they work although I did have one that fogged up quite readily.

I think sometimes we get hung up on those huge aft facing balconies on the M-Class ships, but comparing a normal balcony cabin between the two then the S-Class are much deeper and if you have a foot stool as you get in a Concierge or Aqua cabin you can actually spread out and your feet aren't pressed up against the balcony glass.
