thoughts of the new all you can drink package?

and some people are forgetting about being in port 3 to 4 days out of the week so no access to the booze until you reboard in the late afternoon.

Bill

I agree with this statement , Thats why I wont be doing it on the Victory in a month 5 ports in 6 days.

BUT on a normal 7 day cruise where you are in port 3 of 6 days I would probally get this . I would get my money's worth , ANd I would not be drunk

Like many posters said 2 or 3 drinks during the day , 2 drinks at dinner , 2 drinks at club or comedy , you would easily get your moneys worth

15 drinks is the limit I think thats reasonable very much.

Im sure Carnival has done its marketing in the average amount people drink per day and figured this in the cost. Not to mention, the prices we paying now are ridiciously high (carnival higher than other cruise lines) and you do know they purchase liquor in mass quantities which means they getting a great price per bottle.

Lets take for instance the small bottle of absolute vodka, the ship last time I went on Carnival sold 2 @ $19.99 you sure know that the cruise line didn't pay that they making profit of course. So whether one chooses this drink package and drinks 15 drinks they surely have it all figured in their strategy... they still making a profit. Offering this at this time on one ship surely shows they trying this out, I do hope they offer to all of its ships. I think in doing this, I may just want to have Carnival as my preferred choice of cruise line again. I prefer to pay for these items prior to my cruise. I also love the program you pay $50 and you get priority boarding and tendering, sure worth every penney I say. :)

Is there a link to the Carnival site where this is posted? I can't seem to find this listed there anywhere. :(

CARNIVAL TESTING NEW ALL-INCLUSIVE BEVERAGE PROGRAM ON CARNIVAL VICTORY

Carnival Cruise Lines began testing a new all-inclusive beverage program aboard the Carnival Victory starting with the ship’s Aug. 5 departure.

Under the “My Awesome Bar Program,” guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer, and spirits, along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails, throughout the voyage at one convenient, flat rate. All wines by the glass, beer and individual cocktails priced $10 and lower are available within the program. Full bottles of wine and champagne, as well as wines by the glass, beers and individual cocktails priced above $10, are available at a 25 percent discount.

Guests can sign up for the “My Awesome Bar Program” at Carnival Victory’s atrium and casino bars, as well as a bar within the main pool area. Each guest aged 21 years and over in the same stateroom must purchase the beverage package. Guests must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol on Carnival ships.

The cost for program is $42.95 per person per day, plus a 15 percent gratuity.

We would definitely opt for this - for just the reasons that have already been posted.

Five or six drinks during the day on a cruise is not that crazy -- you're on vacation!! Now...five or six drinks during your workday? You need a meeting :D.

Even with port days, I think this is still a good option -- you might drink more one day, less on another - sounds like it would all even out in the end for a lot of folks.

Wonder when/if they'll start rolling it out on other ships....

I was considering getting this deal when I board the Victory. I am traveling with a group of 6, but in my cabin is me and DD who is 15. We set it up this way so DH and our other daughter could reserve a cabin too.

So, with that said, I won't be "forced" to purchase the package x2.

I would go with this package only if I could "share" my 15 drinks with the other adults in our group (not big drinkers, but we were going to get the wine package, bring wine on board, AND purchase a DOD here and there) ... I'm sure that all could add up to 15 drinks easy, and I won't have to purchase the wine package (we like to drink wine with dinner).

Am I understanding this right? you are in 1 room with your 15 yo DD and your husband is in another room with your DD?

If so, wouldn't you just have to buy 1 for yourself since your DD is underage? Isn't if all people over 21 in the same room? If so, I think you may get away with it

You folks must all go to bed early. Even on a port day, coming back to the ship, I would probably have a beer to cool off, a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, something at the Piano Bar, something in the Disco where I dance off the dinner calories, so I could see how I could easily still consume 5-6 drinks even after ports.

But, I also don't require much sleep to function.

Where do you see that this includes soda/pop and water?

Also, apparently it doesn't include frozen drinks.

If I am wrong, please let us know. If it included water at least then that might be a consideration. But I'm pretty darned sure it doesn't include soda or pop?

It does included water, soda, and your little fruity drink alcholic or not

It's me and DD15 in one cabin, and DH and DD21 in another cabin (because she has the second FCC).

It looks like, according to the rules, I can sign up myself (then go to guest services and get our keycards switched, like we planned).

I don't know if I'm going to go with this plan, would like to hear from others on how they are going to monitor me, tell me I can only get 1 drink at a time? tell me I can't order another drink until a half hour after I finished one? How can they monitor it?

In case I'm just not seeing it when it's right in front of me...where does it say water?

I see where it says soda.

If it also includes bottled water, then along with the soda, then it well might be worth it for me.

ETA: Does the Bottomless Bubbles portion of it include bottled water?

I could easily consume a couple of drinks in the casino, and I don't gamble that much, or have a few drinks watching a show or the comedians. Even though I'm on the Victory and you all call it "port intensive", it's not that intense! These are teeny tiny islands, you won't be gone "all day" and I too like to return to the ship and grab a drink. I was planning on buying a cheap bottle of Vodka from Bon Voyage and a Wine Package, now I don't have to, and right there I saved over $200 and with this drink package I can have Grey Goose!

We would love this too. I look at a bucket of beer which you only get 4 for $ 23 or so. That's 2 buckets and you just payed for the day and I also love the DOD'S. I hope they start this but I am sure there will be people drinking much more than they would and maybe causing to much trouble.

Since this program includes soft drinks as well as alcohol, is this limit in total or just 15 'alcoholic' drinks?

Just curious - I don't know that I've ever 'purchased' a total of 15 drinks a day total (sodas, wine, DOD's, and bottled water) - may be an interesting thing to track on my upcoming cruise ... it won't be on the Valor so I won't be able to 'try out' the program. :D

I don't believe bottled water is included. Same as with the soda card, it doesn't include bottled water. With the soda card they serve it in a glass and you can get some juices but not bottled water. Per John's post he didn't mention water just the soda.

At first, I thought, "no way, we would never drink that much." And then I starting thinking about it. Over the course of a day, we could easily have six drinks. Have two or three during the afternoon while laying out, have another before dinner, a couple of glasses of wine at dinner and maybe a drink before bed. And my husband is a beer drinker and I could see him drinking several of those too. He's a big soda drinker, too and this would elminante the need for a soda card. If I spaced them out throughout the day, I wouldn't be drunk... maybe tipsy by bedtime, but no way drunk.

Knowing exactly how much my sign and sail card would be at the end of the week would make it worth it for us.

I guess I never thought about it this way. We could pass on buying the wine package and order by the glass at dinner. We rarely finish a bottle of wine with dinner unless we're sharing.

And you're right. If you spaced it out, a few drinks around the pool during the day, before dinner drink, wine with dinner, etc. maybe it might be worth thinking about.

Does anyone have more info on the all you can drink package? Will this be fleet wide and when?

What is the cost per person for a 7 day cruise? What does it include? Soda and water, as well as beer and mixed drinks? Call brands or well, and will it include blended drinks? (DOD's?) Wine by the glass in the dining room?

I found this article online...

http://www.examiner.com/article/carnival-cruise-lines-tests-all-you-can-drink-alcohol-package

Wine by the glass and alcoholic drinks and beer priced over $10 each are sold at a 25% discount.

Does anyone know what current drink prices are for say a Bacardi and Coke, or a Grey Goose and Cranberry juice?? :)

They take your S&S card for every drink and I'm sure they will have a way to keep count of the drinks and the times you get them. Damn computers ruin everything

Good luck. I hope it works out for you.

I :)LOVE LOVE LOVE:) this new program, just wish it woud have come sooner...we are beer drinkers and at approx $25.00 for 4, we will FOR SURE get our monies worth.

We like our beers and it is nothing for us to drink a few buckets while sitting around the Lido playing cards and hanging out with friends.

Don't even get me started on hanging out in the casino;).

Looking forward to it becoming fleetwide:D.
