My Awesome Bar Program flyer

I just got back from the Victory, and there were a lot of people with this package. (myself included)

I thought the service was awesome, all the bartenders and bar waiters were very attentive. We hung out mostly at the Martini Bar, and every night there was a great group there.

I got some misinformation at first, but by the end of the week it was straightened out.

The "day" for your 15 drinks goes from 9a-9a. The bartenders are supposed to manually count up your drinks after midnight, they can run your card and see how many you had. I didn't get close to my 15.

Sodas and smoothies are "free", and unlimited.

Match play coupons are not supposed to be offered, but I did get some the first couple days until they figured it out.

I think it was a great deal.

Oh, and for the tips, they pool them, and get a percentage based on how many drinks they sell. So, honestly, the bartenders are making less.

I purchased the program on the Carnvial Spirt two weeks ago.. My wife and I thought it was great. You purchase the program on the first or second day of the cruise. We purchased it first thing at the Atrium Bar the cost including gratuities is 691.50 for two people. We spent much more then that for the week. We were over 900.00. My wife really enjoyed it, as she tends to just drink beer when we are paying, as it tends to be a little cheaper, but with the program she drank some other cocktails. Also, it was nice to have some after dinner drinks like Bailey's without paying 6.00 per drink.. Overall I thought the program w as great. It would be better if it included bottled water.. There is no drink max per day at all...Not sure where that came from.. Right now, its only offered on 4 ships.. Hopefully, they will roll it out to all ships shortly..

Wondering where it says you can't get match play coupons, I don't remember reading that anywhere.

Concerning the coffee, I wonder if it is because Carnival lets a vendor sell it on their ships and therefore not in control of adding it to the program.

Some other cruisers that were on the Splendor I believe said that a few people were turned away when trying to order a drink after the bartender saw that they hit 15 drinks. I guess that will all be ironed out after they decide if they are going to put it on all ships

There is a still-being-written review on the Fascination where the lady said she saw lots of folks with the cards, and I had never heard of that ship having the program...

Might mean good things!

Sounds like the reviewer is confusing the Open Bar Card with this new program. With the Awesome Bar program, you just get a sticker placed on your S&S card. The red white and blue card is what you get with the Open Bar program that is for groups of 30+

They told us when we purchased that it was a max of 15 drinks.

We also asked if it went from midnight -midnight or what the hours were. Originally they said midnight was a new day, but a couple days later we were told it went from 9a-9a. so, pretty much a full "bar" day on the ship. Otherwise if you are shut off at 15 drinks, you could get more at midnight.

As for the match play, it doesn't say it anywhere, and I got them the first 2 days, but on the 3rd day, none of the casino cashiers would give them. They said because the amount on the slip was $0.00 and having the awesome bar card is already a discount.

If you have 1 drink at lunch, maybe 1 before, a few after lunch, 1 or 2 at dinner, after dinner, dancing at the club or just relaxing on top deck 1. That is roughly 8-13 drinks a day broken up throughout the day.

Yeah, but don't forget about the port days. Say it's a 7 day cruise with 3 port days that have you off the ship between 10am and 4pm those days. Then for the port days, using your estimates, you might have a drink before dinner, 1 or 2 at dinner, and another couple in the evening, that would total only 4 or 5 on port days. If the break even point is maybe 5 or 6 drinks per day, (could be more or less depending on what you drink) that means for 3 of the days you're a drink under the that number, meaning that for the other days you'd have to be a drink over (6 or 7 drinks) to break even.

It sounds like in your case you'd probably still come out a little ahead, but you wouldn't have to be much lighter of a drinker than you are to make it not worth it.

Well it has taken me two bottles of wine to read all the hoop la on the "Bar package" and really some people should just not comment!

To each there own and thou shall not judge...... hahahaaha

opps spilt my wine....

ENJOY you dont get to vacation a lot and others should not interfer!!!

Relax, just because we are trying to logically price it out doesn't mean we are trying to take your option for the package away from you. We're just trying to group think this out so we all can take the variables into account when we figure out if it's for us. Don't be so defensive, we aren't out to get you!:)

In my case it is not about as much as making sure I get my monies worth (which we probably would) as just the peace of mind that I won't get a heart stopping bill at the end. Even if I didn't drink the entire amount, just knowing that everything was already paid would be worth the difference.
