My Awesome Bar Program flyer

OMG... get a grip... I asked a question... I never gave anyone financial advice... WOW... have you already had too many????? And I never called anyone a drunkard... you did that all by yourself... Now, have a nice day :)

Never said you called anyone a drunkard, I did that as sarcastic remark. I'm just tired of all the posts that see this program in a negative light and telling people it's too much to spend. Well if it is for you then fine, I'l buy you a DOD... ;)

As long as the "drunkards" dont interfere with the rest of us who will have much less over the course of a day fine.

My concern is if this become widespread will have a shipfull of drunken fools walking the ship.

Why do you think that? Other cruise lines have these types of packages too. They aren't full of stumbling drunks. The worst stumbling drunk I ever saw on a ship unfortunately was a 16 year old teenager that cussed us out for telling her she needed to go to her cabin before something happens to her.

You do know that Celebrity has had an all inclusive package for quite some time. Does Celebrity stike you as a cruise line full of drunkards? I don't know why you keep insisting this is going to promote bad behavior.

Exactly!!! People see Celebrity as "higher class" so they wouldn't expect bad behavior...

I think I need a break from CC. :D

Good grief... If you drink 6 DODs over the course of a day you would spend at least $90 a day. Since alcohol is processed at approximately 1 oz per hour by the human liver, if one drinks one DOD every two hours then, yes, they would remember their cruise because they would not be falling down drink like half the CC posters seem to think happens when someone says they can drink 6 drinks in a 24 hour period.

Well, I don't even think you can get DODs, because "drinks promoted and sold in souvenir glasses" are restricted. Even if you don't want the glass, they are still promoted that way, and even if you don't read the restriction the same way I do, there will be a LOT of people who are put off by this and who likely won't order that drink.

I agree. I am VERY interested in this package, but if I can't get DOD....... maybe you just can get it without the glass.

I keed. I'm still interested.:D

So glad to hear it's on more than one ship. We are on the Valor when it takes the Victory's spot next March. I hope it continues. Our last bill was $850. Hubby didn't but I was pacing myself cause I couldn't justify the cost of the drinks.

I read it as the restriction being "the souvenir glass" and not the drink. We always get the drink of the way without the glass and it is below the price max.

Thanks to the OP for posting this flyer. I hope it's on the Magic for my upcoming November cruise!

I drink very little at home but I would buy this in a heartbeat. On most days I'm sure I'd get the value of this. I prefer the frozen cocktails and could easily have 3-4 sitting at the pool on a sea day. Add a glass or 2 of wine at dinner and a cocktail or 2 at the evening shows. I could order sodas throughout the day. I wonder if it includes juices like the soda card does?

I think the people who overindulge will stay the same. They just buy per drink now or have bottles in their room. And Carnival reserves the right to cut people off.

For me it's about convenience. I don't like feeling nickel and dimed. And I think it will attract more people to cruising that would otherwise never consider it compared to an all inclusive. It's simply an option that you don't need to buy if it doesn't fit with your experience.

I think this is a great deal, here's why:

My partner and I usually like to have a few drinks in the afternoon by the pool, then a predinner drink with friends, maybe a glass of wine at dinner and then some drinks at the club after dinner, that would normally amount to far more the $43 per person, per day.

Please excuse this question but can you buy this program by the day or is it times the amount of cruise days?

Sorry for being a little dense.

I wish specialty coffee had been included. I would be all over it. I don't drink soda and only wine with dinner and maybe one DOD a day. I could easily drink 4 coffees a day

Celebrity's program seems much more inclusive. Besides specialty coffee it also includes

fresh fruit juices, smoothies and even Red Bull.

Also you don't have to both sign up for this program on Celebrity.

With all the talks about the amount of drinks people would be drinking it seems that they are forgetting that on port days, you aren't on the ship most of the day. That's why everyone questioned why they tried it out first on the Victory because she has such a port intensive itinerary.

Agreed, but on the splendor there are cruises with many sea days so I guess it will work out for some and not for others.

That is my problem with the program!

You have to buy it in advance and for everyday.

That includes the 1st day which is half over by the time you board.

Last year they confiscated all my beer and booze. We definately had our fair share of drinks through the day and our bar bill (not sail and sign total) was just under $300.

According to JH, it was to be bought for the entire amount of cruise days and also by everyone over 21 in each cabin no matter whether they drink or not!

Same here. Something I learned here on Cruise Critic on the RC board. Unless you want to buy the glass, you can request your drink in a plain glass. My DOD's still come in a tall, plastic glass; they're just plain.

Too many limitations. No specialty coffees or bottled water. Celebrity's program is a real all inclusive, anything and everything is included.

Agreed. I did Celebrity's Classic program last December and at only $44/day plus 15% gratuity, it was a much better deal that what CCL's seems to be.

I wonder how they will enforce this.

Every fall, I go on a girls' cruise with my sister and our friend. My sister and I drink; friend barely so--maybe a wine with dinner. Friend would never buy the program. She won't even pay for bottled water on a cruise.

So for instance, if Sis and I go to the casino bar to purchase the program, is the bartender going to ask us where our roomate is so he can charge her sail and sign card also? Or will they look up our cabin somehow, see that there's another adult in there with us and automatically charge her card somehow? Friend would hit the roof.

Spending over $350 for a weeks cruise on a drink plan may be good value for some, but I would never use the word "only".;)

We going on the Dream at the end of this month only holding our breath this program be offered to us. We rather prepay it and not have to pay after our cruise, be nice just to get that part over with.

Our bar bill is about the same price if we had this option maybe a bit more only we are able to get some other types of beverages also be nice....does it include the frozen lemonades?

I meant "only" $44.00 in comparison to CCL's $42.95 program, which doesn't seem to include nearly as much as Celebrity's.

I see what you mean. $44 per day does seem like a much better value when you consider that Celebrity's package can be used for bottled water, specialty coffees, and other things that you can't use the Carnival package for.

Carnival and Celebrity are two totally different cruises...
