What is your favorite moment upon boarding?

I love handing my seapass card to security for the very first time as I board. That first ding sound really hits you with reality that the cruise is about to start! What do other people look forward to?

The minute I drive up to the cruise port and see that wonderful ship waiting for me, just for me. At 63 I can say its all about me and get away with it :p. I can get away with it, can't I??:)

Yep, gotta ditto the DING! And then the announcement tone...got that on my phone to announce my texts...gotta love it.

The next thing is getting to the cabin and going out on the balcony and smelling the salt air and hearing the rush of the wind and water past it, all the while seagulls screeching and dive bombing the ship. People love to throw bread to them. We watched for a long time on our last cruise. They are hilarious trying to get it.

Then, it's not a cruise until I hear Hot Hot Hot and Lets Get Away To Where The Boat Comes From, so we quick set up our little speakers and start the music. MMMMMMMMMM just 68 more days!:p:p:p

Oh and I agree with Lady Cruiser completely!

We're doing our first cruise on the 7th October (whooo hooooooooo) and I can't wait to experience all the things mentioned in this thread :D

Be sure to take it VERRRRRRRRY slow, savor every moment, sound sight and smell, have your camera around your neck and take umpteen million photos (You'll never take as many as on your first cruise again!) And this is the cruise you'll remember the most...oh joy oh bliss, I almost wish I was in your shoes again......:p

The sound of the horn as you leave port. There is no going back after that and it means you are truly on your way. Even though the horn usually scared the holy hell out of me, I never tire of it! :D

Absolutely! First getting my sea pass card then once on the ship, waiting on deck for the blast of the horn as we leave the port.

I thought of another one.....

Right after you swipe your card and get past all the employees and see the most wonderful sight in the world. The inside of the ship. You are no longer thinking about planning or packing or transfers. You have arrived and your vacation has begun!!:D:D

Great question. When I read it I realized it is the first 45 minutes when the concierge or other ships officer comes to gather us up for the ships tour, introductions to the hotman, head of guest relations and the head of house keeping who meets you at the cabin.

I enjoy watching whoever is sailing as we go around the ship seeing the things the escort wants to show us, then the reaction the first time new folks see the main cabin.

It makes you feel great everytime and seems like the first time even if you have been on that ship before. The staff are masters at making you think nothing matters more than your enjoyable time, and we want them to know we genuinely appreciate it.

It's a shame to say but I am a bundle of nerves until the moment I step from the gangway onto the actual ship. I think that is why I practically run up that long back and forth gangway to board the ship. My hubby is always saying slow down.

I love that dink sound, so I downloaded it to my phone and use it for notifications.
