xavier Posted October 28, 2012 #52 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Always like to see what people order in those first giddy moments when you first board the ship. Mine is always a BBC. Bailey's Banana Colada. It is very rich and very sweet so I limit myself to one per cruise. It is also made with crushed ice so you have to sip it slowly to avert the brain freeze. LOL. What do you like to order first? Sue Bucket of beer. (for DH & me!)
paradiseisaprincessaway Posted October 28, 2012 #53 Share Posted October 28, 2012 I was introduced to these November 2011 on the Ruby by new friends on the last sea day prior to disembarking.....lets just say I: a) had 4 in a mere hour and a bit!!!!! b) jumped in the pool fully clothed c) ate way too many peices of pizza d) spent about an hour in the bathroom c) had the spins for about an hour Needless to say should I partake again it will be ONLY one per cruise....those are some potent drinks
Thrak Posted October 28, 2012 #54 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Been "on the wagon" for the past 4 months. If I was drinking I would have a Pernod & OJ during sail away. I love that drink. :D

EdmPair Posted October 29, 2012 #58 Share Posted October 29, 2012 I am puzzled this first drink need be so ritualized. I am guessing we would have beer or juice. While I drink alcohol, I can also take it or leave. If I was a cool day, I might start with coffee or latte. To each their own. (I was not even going to add to this list until somebody said they were on the wagon. People need to know it only seems that everybody celebrates with alcohol, when in fact they do not.) EdmPair Posted October 29, 2012 #59 Share Posted October 29, 2012 But does Princess offer anything that actually resembles good beer? My 3 cents, NO. The beer selection is lame compared to the wine selection. Not clear why. If the wines can hit various price points, why not stock a better range of beer? Gunner22aa Posted October 29, 2012 #61 Share Posted October 29, 2012 I agree the beer selection could use a little more imagination. Out of the lot I drink the Fosters. Large can for only a couple of bucks more. Twice the size of a standard beer at 750ml.
hightownCO Posted October 29, 2012 #62 Share Posted October 29, 2012 Since I am the designated driver, I have iced tea or water. Hubby has white wine. I was hoping the Captain would volunteer to be designated driver for our cruise next week! ;) LOL Usually rum and diet coke is the first drink. But reading all this is expanding my horizons! Do love a BBC and that's usually what I'll have if the casino offers me a freebie. With reading this, I'm making a bucket list!

Thrak Posted October 29, 2012 #67 Share Posted October 29, 2012 I've seen numerous references on CC in regard to a "bucket of beer". How does this work? What, exactly, is a bucket of beer?

Gunner22aa Posted October 29, 2012 #70 Share Posted October 29, 2012 It's either 6 for the price of 5 or 5 for the price of 4. Can't remember. Your choice of whatever they have at bar prices for the particular beer. Comes in a bucket of ice.

cruisenovice Posted October 29, 2012 #72 Share Posted October 29, 2012 Our glass of complementary champagne, but the real "first drink" (immediately after) is a Chairman of the Board from Crooners. There's nothing like Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire, and Cointreau shaken to start a Sailaway. sonnenschein Posted October 30, 2012 #75 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Beverly Hills Iced Tea 10 ½ oz Glass ½ oz Cointreau ½ oz Bombay Sapphire Gin ½ oz Bacardi White Rum ½ oz Grey Goose Vodka ½ oz Cuervo Tequila Pouring Sparkling Wine O.K. I drink this "tea" and I am dead or lying under the table before the cruise leaves the dock. Now give me a good Martini (chairman of the board) and the party can start:p
