The package is $49 USD per person, per day + 15 percent automatic gratuity.

So $441 + $66.15 = $507.15. You may or may not have sales tax added on. The package must be purchased for every day on the first day of the cruise. If you wait and purchase on Day 2 or 3, you will still be charged for the days that you did not use.

Re: beer and wine, someone posted in another thread recently that NCL has also begun offering an unlimited beer and wine package for much less than the UBP (something like $20 per person per day, I think), although I believe it has many restrictions (only draft beer and only served from particular bars or restaurants on the ship).

It was tap beer in the MDR only for $18.00 a day. To break even you must drink 3-4 with every dinner.

Just got off the Sun - Ketel One was included and most martinis & frozen drinks, just ask your bartender - I was only told NO once on a special martini - they just used a different vodka and it was included. Was nice not to worry about the final bar bill. We're going on the Epic Saturday and just confirmed that they are offering this package on all ships now except PoA. They didn't push it on the Sun, we had to ask where to sign up - Atrium cafe. Didn't see any other advertisements for it and most other passengers we talked to didn't know anything about it. Good at all bars & restaurants, just not room service... I drank Prosecco Brut at $9 glass + a frozen drink or 2 so it was a good deal for me.

Just off the Jewel and it was very frustrating trying to figure out what was included (and I think the staff was confused as well!).

We were told that only "classic" or "dirty" martinis were included and definitely no frozen drinks. When I went to order a Cosmo, I was told that I would have to pay for it. I asked the bartender to please make me a classic with a splash of cranberry and orange juice and he said he was not allowed to do that for the UBP.

Tracy,

did you have issues with ordering any other drink?

IMO that's a bit BS on the martini thing. You would think adding the cranberry juice and lime juice to a cosmo is cheaper for them then the straight up martinis using a gin or vodka with the swirl of vermouth

I pretty much stuck to wine for the week; my son was fine ordering his Jack and Cokes and beer. On the two occasions that I ordered martinis, I had to pay for them.

Drink of the day was not included. Speaking of, on the day that the Rebellious Fish (one of my favorites!) was DOTD, not one bar had the fishbowl glass. I was told they were being discontinued :(.

I had a couple of other issues about this package:

1) My son and I were traveling with his 20 yr old girlfriend. When he and I signed up for the beverage package, we were told that if we wanted it, then Claire had to sign up for the soda package. Well, she doesn't drink soda but in order for us to get the BP, not only did she have to sign up for the soda (at around $51 for the week), but it had to be paid for on MY credit card folio even though she was paying for her own on-board expenses.

2) As a guest of Casinos at Sea, I was provided with my free drinks in the casino card upon boarding. Despite the fact that my drink card was prominently displayed, I was not allowed to order Pinot Grigio (which is all that I drink) while playing. I was told "house white or red only". The Jewel is the only ship in the fleet where I have this problem. Had to get "special dispensation" from the host to order Pinot Grigio. Despite this, every single time I ordered one in the casino, I had to dig and show my Beverage Package sticker on my cabin card. This disrupted my play and even after getting to know the casino servers, I had to do this every time and I found it to be very frustrating.

3) The worst part, IMHO was the amount of paperwork each drink ordered through the beverage package generated. As per the terms, you could only order one drink at a time. BUT, each time, you received three pieces of paper! One that served as your drink order. One to sign and one to keep. There must be a better way, perhaps electronically (?) to keep track of the beverage package drinks. I hope NCL uses recycled paper because otherwise it is such a horrible waste of paper!

Drink of the day was not included? I thought the package included all drinks $6.25 and under. Is the $6.25 limit the cost of the alcohol they use in the drink or is it the total cost of the drink, as far as I can see by the posted bar prices a lot of drinks are more than $6.25. There has been so many conflicting posts about the UBP. NCL needs to publish specific details about the UBP. I don't want to regret purchasing the UBP. When I bought the drink package on Celebrity I was well informed about what was included. Never had to ask a bartender if this or that was included.

Tracy thank you for your feedback. You helped me make up my mind. Ordering the usual bar setup tomorrow for my Sun cruise in 2 weeks. CAS card will cover me in the casino and no I will not except well pour. Never have never will. The UBP is not going to be even break even if I can't order what I like to drink. No martinis! Forget about it.

I think I'm in total agreement with that statement.

A vodka martini made with their sponsored Svedka brand would/should seem to fit into the program as advertised so far, so negating it would not be good for me.

Heck, the Blue Man Experience only includes ingredients on the earlier list, but probably not allowed since it is a frozen concoction.

I'll just stick with the standard pay-as-you-go routine.

At first I thought this to be a good deal, but we're definitely re-thinking it. I, too, enjoy my martinis (apple, cosmos, chocolate, etc.).

I like being able to set aside X amount of money for on board with not needing to check our account every day to make sure we're not spending over what we budgeted.

The DH is a beer drinker and could add a rye drink (if it's included) to where he would break even. Myself, I could switch to just a vodka tonic cocktail and wine or beer the rest of the time. But I do like my martinis and frozen margaritas.

I'm there with everyone else about some clarification from NCL. I'd like to know that I might break even for my trip but, if I can't get the drinks I like, what's the sense of getting the package.

I miss the the happy hour specials of the 2 for 1 martinis too.

Here is my current view of the program. If you care about what you drink it may not be for you. If you care about how much of anything you can drink it may be for you. I am beginning to think this is a great package for those that really should not have it.

Yes the ones who are going to drink to get drunk are the ones who are going to be trouble for sure.

We enjoy our cocktails, but will not sit there and drink ourselves silly for sure.

$49 per person + 15 percent automatic gratuity. Must be purchased for every day of the cruise, i.e. seven night cruise = 7 X $49 +15 percent. ALSO, every person on the same folio must purchase the package. If the kids are underage but over the age of two, they MUST purchase a soda package.

I saw a different thread where it was $100 pp per day .... now it's $49? Also, there are different levels. So how much is it per day for the premium level?

You are welcome. We were provided with a "what's included/excluded" list and I am trying to find it. For me, it just seemed to be more of a hassle as bar staff throughout the ship didn't seem educated as to what was really included. I do recall from the list it was all wines under $10 and beer in the $5.50 range, but no helmets.

Not sure if I would sign up for it again, either.

This is one of the best things I have heard!

We have only done 1 cruise with NCL and the lack of a package really made an impact on us. Not because we are heavy drinkers but simply because we are a family on a budget and like to know exactly what we are paying. You can't predict the number of drinks everyone will want. As a family of 5, it's always more expensive as we need 2 cabins so although it might seem silly paying more for less but it makes it far less stressful. And there are no worries when a drink is spilled or disliked (Which happened more on the NCL cruise than any other, I'm convinced it was because we were paying per glass lol).

To the cynics, In actual fact it is easy to drink $49 worth of drinks per day if your trip is not excursion centred. A few soda's/fruit juices/coffee's before and after a port trip, a beer or cocktail or two in the afternoon, aperitif, wine with dinner, post dinner liqeours, and maybe even a glass or two of something while you bop the night away! And that's without rolling over drunk! Different strokes for different folks ;)

We were considering Jade in the summer as they had the best greek isles cruise we've seen for this year. Will almost certainly book it now.

Perhaps not, but looking at the lists posted earlier, most are included. Andd I would be willing to compromise to ensure I wasn't stressed with the end bill.

Thanks for the tip though.

It is disappointing that the speciality coffee's are not included though. I lived in the coffee shop on X in October (Most of my package was spent in there!!)

The list is posted in the first page of this thread. Didn't seem to limit any drinks to a price, but excluded things such as Maker's Mark.

I might do what worked two cruises ago. Find the fun/friendly bartender, give him a good tip the first time I order (like $30-40) and get some discounts later on. My friend bought some drinks for 3 of us (2-3 Jim Beam& coke,2-3 Rum & coke, and I had 2 cucumber martinis). Should have been around $42 bucks without tip, but he charged us $26. Needless to say, we went back to see him every night.
