That's what we did. Went back and forth to pools depending on what action was going on! :p Beware the deck at the aft pool. It gets VERY HOT when the sun is out. Saw MANY pax who did not have their shoes/sandals running across the deck or "swishing" on their towel.

We found that on the aft pool on the Miracle too. It was so funny to see a row of flip flops lined up right along the pool like a Japanese house :)

Woohoo - SINGLE DIGIT DANCE here :D

BON VOYAGE to both of you. Hate to tell you this, but I know at least one poster who is going to wish your cruise goes very fast (Good morning Kat/Kath! :D) Have a BLAST!

LOL - time is relative - at least that's my theory. It can go fast for me and slow for the people on the June 2 cruise!

To those I say have a fantabulous cruise and take care of the ship for us. Don't eat all the food or drink all the drinks!

No need to use another card your room key will work just fine for the safe if you have a magnetic one

As others have said, the Splendor safes use codes NOT cards, but it's never a good idea to use your S&S card for the safe. I've read stories here about things getting screwed up and also anyone with access to your room also has access to the safe - kind of defeats the purpose of the safe.

Do the things they play on the screen ever get distracting if you just want to relax poolside? Also when is the best time to go to the pool? I don't want to have to deal with chair hogs

Hi guys. Just got off the Splendor earlier today. Had a very nice time. I will try to post a mini review later. Chair hogs were pretty bad on this one. We had to get out by the pool by 7:30 or 7:45 AM or the seats would be limited or almost non existant especially by the AFT pool. Most of the chairs had a book or towel, but only about 20% had people in them until around 9:30 or 10:00. I think on the 11th deck closer to the slide it was a little easier to find chairs after 9:00 or 10:00 though.

One day a Carnival team member was going around noting how long chairs had been saved but other than that day Carnival wasn't really enforcing the chair reserving rule ( 40 minutes).

Also it was especially bad in the El Morocco lounge ( where they have The Punchliner Comedy Club) before most of the comedy shows as people were saving multiple seats at a time.

They would show concerts every morning on the big screen at 9 AM ( including one Beach Boy Concert that they replayed at least 4 or 5 times)

They had Beauty and the Beast a few times in the afternoon and also played The Natural one day in the afternoon. They weren't any movies at night except for maybe one or two nights . As someone else mentioned they had deck parties and Karaoke out there on most nights.

We preferred the AFT pool, although please note that it's right next to The Tandoori Grill so if you do not like the smell of Indian food, it might not be your preferred location

Welcome back! Yes, the CHOGS were pretty bad at the pools but we usually managed to find chairs somewhere. On the last day at the main pool the "towel lady" reinforced the 40 minute rule. Almost all the lounge chairs in front of the movie screen were saved. There is a big group of people who cruise together every year. I think there are 40-50 of them. VERY NICE. We became very good friends with them and hung out together at casino bar after dinner...but I guess 1 or 2 would go to the pool early in the morning and save all those chairs for the group. As I said, the last day the towel lady finally removed almost all the belongings and put a sticker on the chairs of the items that were removed.

I just got off the Splendor today. It was my 8th CCL cruise and a fantastic one at that! The weather was not particularly cooperative (1 cold day, 2 rainy ones) and I believe the Lido Roof was only open on four of the eight days. The enclosed lido is very unique and will sure come in handy for those cold weather cruises. It was 45 degrees when we left last Saturday

I was surprised by how much live music was all over the ship. More than I remember from past cruises. There was a latin band, a rock band (True Identity - Awesome!) and a duo (in the lobby) that could sing just about everything. They rotate the bands around the ship. There are 2 DJ's and I actually enjoyed the change from the steel drum duo. I just think they need to add in some Caribbean music into the mix.

For those with ATD you will be in the Black Pearl. Just remember to take the forward elevators (with the glass ones) since the other 2 elevator banks do not go there.

The rotisserie on deck 10 was a great area to get away from the crowds and enjoy a peaceful meal. There is also a beverage station (Coffee, Tea, Juice) up there so if you need a quick drink you can pop in and out (Rear of the ship deck 10) without the crowds.

Do NOT miss the comedy brunch. It is held on all 4 sea days. The food and service were very good! Comedian does a 5 minute teaser every hour on the hour. This was our first time doing it.

We saw all 4 comedians. We never had a problem arriving at show time and finding a seat in the rear of the lounge.

MDR food was Excellent! The Crew overall were among the best we have had (Stewards, Waiters, etc.)

For smokers note that all smoking areas on lido (Starboard deck 10) are outside so if you cruise in the middle of winter be prepared.

Only complaint was getting off the ship in Grand Turk. For some reason we were stuck at the staircase for at least 15 minutes. I have been to GT before (on miracle) and never had that happen. Probably an isolated incident.

For those of you who are cruising on her in the future you are in for a treat :)

I was just over at Fort Wadsworth to watch the Splendor sail under the bridge. The view is breathtaking! You've all probably seen dozens of pictures like this but I couldn't resist posting it. She came right after the Norwegian Breakaway and Celebrity Summit. Enjoy!

well just back 5/25 to 6/2 to all going you will have a relaxing time be sure to look to listen to True Identity, catch adult comedy shows and enjoy eating in the main dining room as there is no need to eat in the Pinnacle. The quality of food is excellent and the service too.

On Wednesday I think True Identity was playing in the casino. They did Back in Black by AC/DC. Not an easy song and they nailed it! There was a huge crowd cheering them at the end of that song!

I am SO HAPPY you all had such a great cruise! We were on the 5/9 sailing and did also! We were "spoiled" with Miracle/spirit class and were "nervous" about the Splendor, but had a FABULOUS time. I have to say, the crew was the BEST we have ever had. Welcome to Manhattan Carnival Splendor! :D

What are we talking about??? I must have missed this....:confused::confused::confused:

I asked about white space next to my cabin on the deck plan. I was hoping to have an unused balcony next to mine. The experts say it is a staff cabin.

Oh, thought they were all on the lower decks. Maybe the Captain or other officers? Looks like a big cabin! You will have to keep watch and let us know! :D:p

I have a question for the recent Splendor cruisers ... Which pier did you leave from 88 or 90? And did you get to use the new gangways they installed for the Breakaway. I'm assuming they only installed them at the one pier - but I could be wrong. They look cool and I'd love to experience them first hand. We're the only ship in port on the day we leave, so I thought maybe they might use the new ones.

We left from pier 90 on 5/9. We were the only ship in port. Don't know anything about the new gangways.:confused::confused:

Same thing for us on the 05/25 cruise

When we docked yesterday morning The Breakaway was right next to us though. Looks like a beautiful ship

I was hoping to see the ship. When we cruised on Miracle in Feb. we were supposed to be in one of the ports with Breeze but they switched the days of the itinerary at the last minute. I always bring binoculars and it is fun to look at the different ships. :p

I think the new gangways are at pier 88. I Googled them and they look pretty cool. The old ones looked like they were put together duck tape the last time we cruised in 2011. :D

This is how close I came to the Breakaway yesterday. It's definitely a beautiful ship. Too bad it was going to Bermuda, which I've visited so many times already.

Very cool picture. Thanks for the share. I notice she does not have aft wrap balconies! :( I agree about Bermuda. We have been there 6x (both cruise and land vacations) but always on smaller ships so we were docked in Hamilton and then went to St. Georges via that little entry way. I think I am spoiled and wouldn't enjoy being at King's Wharf as much. :o
