MORE things Splendor ... NY style!

No Karen, we weren't in the casino, only to walk thru it. When we were sitting in the atrium one night listening to Juan, there was a boy sitting all by himself in the back on one of the planter ledges, he looked so lonely and had a camera with him, I thought to myself I bet that's shyguy, but I didn't want to embarrass him by asking. I bet it was him because he didn't even come sit it the normal chairs where everyone else was, just stayed in the back all alone felt sorry for him.

Yes, that must have been him. DH really tried to get him out of his shell. We had a few friends on this cruise that we had cruised with before (didn't know they were going to be there! ) and they are a lot of fun so we hung out with them and encouraged shy guy to join us, but he just refused. That is so sad and kind of scary.

I did not mean to put my foot in my mouth about the GOT CARNIVAL t shirts. I didn't mean that I didn't like them, I meant that compared to the ship t shirts I usually buy they are a poor substitute! I wonder if John Heald would know why they don't sell the ship logo items anymore. I also have mugs with picture of the ship.

When I was on board, they did have the Cheers program. My recommendation -- it's not that great of a value and comes with ridiculous rules (one drink at a time, limited # of drinks per day, etc.).

I think it's much smarter to order a few bottles to the room through the Bon Voyage and sneak on a few Rumrunners if you need to bring on extra. This will cost ~100-150$ versus spending ~400+ on the Cheers program for a week long cruise.

Does the Splendor have the Cheers Program onboard? I would love to try it if possible!! I'm not sailing on her until October 2014 but I'm going to try to read and learn anything and everything about the ship between now and then!! :D

I found this information in another thread and since it's for the Splendor, I'm posting it here. I have no interest in doing laundry on a vacation, but I know some people do so here is a laundry list!

Laundry locations:

Main Deck 2 - midship / across from 2365

Empress Deck 7 - midship / across from 7339

Lido Deck 9 - forward / across from 9270

Locations – Ironing Rooms

Riviera Deck 1 – aft / across from 1425

Upper Deck 6 – midship / across from 6391

Verandah Deck 8 – midship / across from 8381

Which is the most happening bar on the Splendor? Looking for the best place to go before dinner or after dinner for a drink.

I guess it depends on the time & what you're looking for. The lobby bar which is located on Deck 3 right outside the Black Pearl Dining Room's entrance for ATD has live music & comfortable seating before & after dinner. We found ourselves going to the Martini Bar on Deck 5 before dinner & sometimes grabbing some sushi at the sushi bar a few feet away. There was usually a lively bunch at the Martini Bar for conversation...no music.

Is the Martini Bar what is labeled on the Deck plans as the El Mojito Wine Bar? We like to have a drink before dinner and that looked like a good spot if we get the Gold Pearl (we have late seating) dining room, as I hope we do. If we get the Black Pearl we will be doing a LOT of walking (not a bad thing on a cruise diet, I guess ) because we have an aft cabin!

Yes, Kath, the El Mojito is the martini bar. I actually checked it out especially for you because I remember you were asking about it! :p

Ah - okay - thanks! I wasn't sure if they were talking about the same bar or another one! I have this one marked to check out. Martinis or wine - both work for me! But the Martinis have to be made with Bombay Sapphire GIN (real martinis are ONLY made with gin :D ) and extra olives!

Although I do love the Tiramisu Martini - that one gets a pass because it's so yummy!

Okay, now you got me curious about that one - I love anything Tiramisu!:D:confused:

TIRAMISU MARTINI

1.5oz malibu

1oz brogans

0.5 fragelico

0.5 peach schnapps

0.5 kahlua

0.5 amaretto

0.5 butterscotch

It really tastes like Tiramisu - I was amazed! And it looks very cool - they swirl chocolate around in the glass before they pour it. But be careful - it packs a whallop! I plan to have one as an after dessert, dessert! Sooooo Good!

A lot of people were doing the martini tasting there. It is from 5-11 every day. I'm not a big martini fan. I tried the Tiramisu martini one cruise during the welcome aboard party when it was $1 off all drinks. Wasn't impressed, but I don't like the dessert much either! :p I tried a French Martini at this welcome aboard party and wasn't too impressed either! They were both good, just not my style  CHEERS!

My husband also got the "proper martini" made with Bombay Sapphire Gin with 3 jumbo olives...shaken not stirred per 007 lol! The pineapple chipotle martini gets a thumbs up from me....enjoy!

I also enjoyed the Irish coffee at the coffee bar on a few occasions which is nearby the El Mojito Bar. Sometimes I needed a little wake up call before dinner. All that doing nothing all day seemed to tire me out!

A taste of cruising from NY.

Thanks! No matter how many times I have done this, it gives me a thrill every time! And I have to wait for the ship to go under the bridge before I go in. When the ship's under the bridge, I'm officially on a cruise!

We'd gone in by then. I was thinking of adding stuff I shot from when we were on the Miracle, but it would be authentic ;) .

How much longer time wise is it from the Statue of Liberty to the bridge? Our cruise on the Splendor will be our 1st out of New York. Counting on some good photo ops.

About 20 minutes or so. It takes about an Hour and Fifteen minutes to go from the pier to the bridge.

Good, I will still be somewhat sober.... Hate those pics when that is not the case.

Not planning on drinking too much between noon - 5pm? :) I say 5pm because it seems that they have been leaving at 5 instead of the posted 4pm sailing time. I'll probably have consumed at least a half dozen Thirsty Frog Reds by then!! :D
