Ultimate Drink Package Thread

Recommended Posts

I can only account for our Med cruise on Liberty in June. The house wine was Clos de Bois Pinot Grigio. I believe it is a Californian wine and it was fine to us not wine experts.

I am sure there are those who would say that that particular wine is undrinkable

Thank you for repling

Royal does not specify exactly what they mean by house wine. People have reported that the white wine was St. Martin Chardonnay. However, that does not mean it will be the same for your cruise. If this is important, then it's best to wait until you board and ask for specifics then.

Thank you for replying

I have another question (it's possible that it may have been already answered) Can one guest in a cabin buy the wine and dine package and the other the ultimate package?

Officially no. But again from my experience I was able to buy the ultimate package for myself.

We are sailing on Serenade of the Seas at the start of September, and have gone for the soft drinks package as there is no way we could break even on the alcohol costs on one of those packages. Can someone advise what postmix/fountain drinks you get with this? I know some of the bigger ships have coke freestyle machines that mean you get a lot of choice, however is the Serenade limited to Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite only, or do they have anything more diverse?

Ta!

Without a Freestyle machine, all you get are the few Coke products you mentioned, with the addition of a club soda.

First time cruiser here. Wow is that seriously all the soft drinks there are without a freestyle machine? No lemon squash, no fanta, no ginger beer etc etc? That is something I'd never thought about.

There are more varieties of soft drinks available for purchase at $2.59 per can. My other post was answering a question about which soft drinks were included in the soda package when the ship has no Freestyle machine.

I do not know what they load on for Australia-based cruises, but you would not find those flavors in cans on board a ship on our side of the pond. I hope that they have them for you in February.

Is lemon squash a soda or non-carbonated? They usually have lemonade (non-carbonated) in the Windjammer buffet, for no charge.

Thanks clarea for the clarification. That was what I feared.

Merion_Mom lemon squash is carbonated.

It's going to be interesting so see what they do have! Over here lemonade is carbonated...what they have in the Windjammer we call lemon cordial.

I didn't realise the soda package was so limited.

It surprises me that it's more limited than a local McDonald's too, I had hoped that we would at least have had Fanta on there!

Never mind, will just have to smuggle some orange squash onboard...

In the UK, orange squash is a concentrate that is diluted with water. It certainly doesn't look like that!, nor is it carbonated. :) I like our squash, but I hate the vegetable/fruit(?) squash.

LOL, that's what I'd call a pumpkin. :)

Ditto to the pumpkin....and Fanta is a type of orange squash and it's definitely carbonated! Yes, thank goodness for CC or I could have bought a pointless soda package.....maybe it should be renamed the coke package for us Aussies? But then again we'd probably think with that would come any other coca cola brand products (sprite, mountain dew, fanta etc)......back to the ultimate drinks package for me!

Hi there

Just of the indy.

The kids had the soda package.

There is no freestyle machine onboard.

They could get:

Coke

Diet coke

Sprite

Fanta

And also they were allowed a virgin shirley temple on there soda cards too.

Just sprite and grenedine.

And a cherry coke aswell.

Beware the kids cup they get leaks, so be sure to keep it upright.

I had no problems with the alcohol package atall.

there was no slip signing and everything i wanted was on the package.

The red wine by the glass at dinner was perfectly fine.

And so was the rose.

I didnt see anyone staggering about and not even any drunken loudness.

Alot of people had the package aswell.

I will say the poolside bar makes the drinks far to strong though.

I much prefer the drinks served in the other bars.

Much more pleasent to drink and enjoyable.

I asked them at the poolside bar to halve the alcohol in my drinks.

As i would like to enjoy a few nice drinks rather than have one and have my head blown off!

I enjoyed a pimms and sprite with lots of fruit in the glass the most.

And after debate i got my fresh mint in it lol.

They rekoned pimms doesnt have mint in at the pool bar .

Between 8 am and 11 am

I mostly started with a pineapple and sprite.

Then i had a shandy.

Between 11 and 6 pm

A cocktail, a pimms ,and a beer.

A coke or 2.

water

A cranberry juice.

Between 6 and 12 midnight.

Two small/med glasses of wine at dinner.

water.

Two rums and coke at the show or casino

A baileys before bed.

This is over the course of about 16 hrs.

I was never even merry.

So the package was definatly worth it for us.

I think people forget the soft drinks they drink that would all cost too.

Especially when its hot.

Excellent summary and thanks for the heads up on what is in the soda package......your thoughts at the end were exactly mine....how easy to forget the costs of the non alcoholic drinks that are part of the $55 package..

Does anyone know if you can buy the classic package for one person and the premium package for the other person in the state room?

You cannot order different packages using Royal's website. However, people have reported being able to do that if they wait and purchase the package onboard the ship.

Fanta's not classed as squash in the UK. Squash is a sort of cordial or fruit drink diluted with water.

I am thinking it would be interesting if someone started a thread on the sometimes confusing differences in our shared language unless it's already been done. I'm quite new on here.

Just back from the Splendour - I like Diet Coke, but did not order the package (although bought it for DS). I was fine with the water, lemonade, fruit punch, etc. that was available for free. It was so hot the water was probably the best thing anyway!
