-- Victoria, British Columbia you can walk approx 30 min (recommend cab)

-- Ketchikan, Alaska dock right downtown

-- Juneau, Alaska dock right downtown

-- Skagway, Alaska 30 to 10 min walk depending on which pier is used

No you don't need a cab in any of these, IF you have no mobility limitations. The farthest walk is 20 minutes to Victoria.

However, the "towns" are a lot of shopping, there is so much more to see and do in Alaska.

You may want to find out the details if there are areas of interest. Each of these cities have tourist web sites with maps.

The above post is inaccurate- there is no dock that is a 30 minute walk in Skagway.

Also there are docks in both Ketchikan and Juneau that are NOT "right downtown".

If you want specific dock information, do a search for the dock schedules. If you need more information, just repost.

Just off ROS and we were docked the farthest away from downtown Skagway and agree no way a 30 min walk unless you walked really sloooow ;)

Just where in Skagway our pier was a twenty min walk from the main part of town .

All of the ports are very walkable. Ketchikan offers a free shuttle around town and their transit buses are very reasonable if you want to go out to Totem Bight or Saxman Village. Juneau is also very walkable and a shuttle out to Mendenall Glacier is about $16 rtn. Skagway offers a very reasonable shuttle as well, the greatest distance into town is from the #2 position on the railway dock. Victoria is about a 20 min level walk to downtown; a taxi will run about $10 in either direction and the shuttle from the terminal is $10 rtn ($5 if over age 65).

I have mobility issues.

So in Victoria we used the shuttle bus.

The last 2 years in Ketchikan we were docked at the new pier 4 -- furthest from town. Again I had to use the shuttle buses. Many people walked into town but we noticed many used the shuttle buses to return to the ship.

Skagway and Juneau -- no problems.

I have to use a walker/rollator.

As I already requested, find out WHERE your particular ship is docked in each port. Readily available information. Each port has good maps where you can find your dock. The information above is all general, and accurate as I posted. If you want specific information about your docking, be specific in your request with the dock information.
