Solo Cruiser's Roll Call

I just booked my first solo on the Legend, 5 nighter, sailing 10/21. I couldn't pass up the great prices and I don't have to pay for that invisible person in my room. I snagged an Interior with French doors for $337 TOTAL!!! These rooms look awesome and are as large as the balcony rooms.

I booked the cruise first then asked for the time off from work and, thankfully, they approved it.

I have assigned early seating but don't know whether to ask for a table by myself or go with the flow and see who they seat me with. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have seriously been thinking about booking this cruise.

You should book it! With the non solo supplement I couldn't pass it up. My price was $306 and I can't believe I get a room all to myself. In the roll call there are a few other solo cruisers already so it should be fun.

Hi Everyone! This will be my 9th solo cruise (15th total)

Actually I just came off the splendor with my sister-in-law (Sept 6th sailing) and we had such a good time on the ship that when I realized I had some extra vacation time left, I booked the second sailing as a solo!

Love cruising solo - so relaxing to be on your own timetable!

Holland America Noordam Dec. 6 2013, FLL to So. Caribbean. (10 days) We are 5 with one solo DD. Other DD and SIL are serious divers. We like large tables for late leisurely dining in MDR. They are 49-53, we are 70+....

Lois R would you agree HAL is smiley, friendly and has an outstanding crew?

Blessings,

Gail

Hi Gail, would I agree with your opinion? Nope. I have only sailed HAL

once and that was way back in Sept 2004. Never went back.

But that is why we all have different views about cruiselines. Glad

you are happy with them. I prefer Celebrity.

I thought I had posted this here before but I didn't see it when I came back last week. Then I forgot about it.

This will be my 1st solo cruise. I've always wanted to cruise over Halloween and decided to take the leap this year.

Last year I cruised with a friend from work and her niece. The niece seems a bit perturbed that I was included and so I tried to do a lot on my own. I found stuff to do in ports on my own and spent nights in the casino and days reading. I "kinda" feel like that was my practice solo cruise.

I was doing fine and excited. Now that the day I'll leave home for my trip is just one month away I'm getting worried. I think meal time is scaring me the most and I really don't want to spend as much time as last fall in the casino.

I have been on four cruises so far and two of them have been solo. I prefer to cruise solo! Eat dinners at an assigned time and you will be seated with other solo cruisers!! No need to worry at all! I am going solo again in Jan. Feel free to ask me anything about solo cruising!

LittleJean,,

I feel a lot like you! I went on a cruise with my sister and great-niece (12 y/o) last winter. I was alone a lot so I read, did the casino. We did most meals and the ports as a threesome. I booked my 1st solo cruise but now I'm worried mostly about meals and the ports. I've been telling myself that I could always do the buffets (singles blend in more there I think) or more room service than normal; and if I get cold feet I don't have to leave the ship at the ports. But that wouldn't be as much fun!

Let's try to stop worrying - it will be fine. All these people on this board have done it and had a good time. So will we!

Hi, I sailed her in August...hope you have a great time:)

FYI...she has been in a state of noro for the past week or so:eek:...be

safe!

Here is a link:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1923183

Thanks for mentioning the noro. We have all been keeping up to date with the forum for this sailing, as well as info posted by people on the current cruise. They are doing a deep cleaning before we board. At first Celebrity notified all that check-in and boarding was delayed from 11 AM to 2PM. Last night they advised that this is now delayed until 5 PM, with no access to the terminal until 5 PM. Delay of a few hours is worth it to avoid getting sick.

You will love Bermuda, and the Breakaway. Just took that same cruise in June. My only qualm with Breakway that it took so long to figure out where everything was, and by then, it was almost time to go home. Lovely cabins, great shows, great beaches in Bermuda. Enjoy!
