palofmine Posted July 11, 2013 #126 Share Posted July 11, 2013 RCI is going to rely on media, TA, and all those people on the ship. We wont hear a word, but CNN might give us a word. We have family in Maryland so we will ask them to watch the news. I'm dying to hear an update from Radio!!! Hopefully he is out getting us all a lot of pictures! Do you think RCCL did any other types of updates while she was getting the repairs?
palofmine Posted July 11, 2013 #127 Share Posted July 11, 2013 HAHAHAHAHA they will probably have 6 - 7 drills, just to be safe! They are probably in the boats, with cocktails , and taking pictures. its 1600.. he's been on bard at LEAST 90 minutes by now. radio, you get a pass for Muster drill, but that's about it! heheheheh
palofmine Posted July 11, 2013 #128 Share Posted July 11, 2013 COME ON?? DOnt you know technology has changed, you use your eyeball now :) So good to hear from you! ¿Cómo está? Vamos a ver cuando nos podremos ver otra vez. Todavía mi nuera no me ha dicho cuando podemos llevar al nieto a Washington. Le avisaré cuando sepa. We'll be sailing a B2B on the Grandeur in Aug and we can hardly wait! Does anyone happen to know if the safe in cabin 4759 uses a magnetic strip card or imput your own code. It doesn't really matter to us (just want to be prepared) as long as we're on the ship! We can hardly wait to hear from Radio! Lynn
palofmine Posted July 11, 2013 #129 Share Posted July 11, 2013 They need to give out free FLAMING DR PEPPERS as passengers board! :) The heading under the Grandeur OTS on RCI's website is now "Now with even more incredible onboard moments" ....like fires :rolleyes: Anyway RCI says the Grandeur is Grander now....what did they do to make it more grand? anything? BND Posted July 11, 2013 #130 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Our friends just posted that they are moving and there are lots of improvements onboard. They haven't been on since the upgrades, but they're enjoying it so far. I just checked marine traffic and they are moving at 5:50 pm
Luvscruising44 Posted July 11, 2013 #131 Share Posted July 11, 2013 i'm watching WJZ in Baltimore and it looked like the ship was moving. I guess if everybody was onboard, they didn't have to wait until 7 as scheduled. Can't wait to see Radio's report. WJZ said some of the cabins weren't ready yet, but their news is not always accurate. We'll get more accurate and more info from Radio. You can always hear anything about cruising here first. Love CC. The ship is approaching the Key Bridge. Luvs

BND Posted July 11, 2013 #134 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Maybe they'll get a few miles past Tangier before they turn around! Theron They certainly aren't breaking any speed records. I saw 2.1 knots last time I checked.
donamae Posted July 11, 2013 #135 Share Posted July 11, 2013 A 12 HOUR cruise ??? Never heard of such a thing, thought I had read wrong, thought 12 day. Where can one go in 12 hours? I'm confused.

A cruise to nowhere. Cruise lines do it all the time with Travel Agents to break in the crew prior to an inaugural. I did many in my TA days. Workers everywhere putting on the final touches. Gives the cruiseline a chance to show off the new ship and agents the time for an in depth inspection.

It's just a one day cruise before Grandeur starts her normal routes again. It was an invitation only event. Invites went out to Pinnacles and TA's. Not sure who else. It's really just a "look at how ready we are" and "see we're seaworthy" cruise so TA's will talk it up to their customers.

MAHA Posted July 11, 2013 #139 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Can't wait for Radio to past some pictures and let us know how the ship is. I read that the South Pacific Lounge and Diamond Lounge will not be ready for the July 12 cruise. I hope they are giving those passengers on that cruise some OBC or some other compensation! Nice2MeetU Posted July 11, 2013 #140 Share Posted July 11, 2013 This is my first experience with "live" reporting from a ship. I look forward to this, Radio. I just checked out your website! Loved it. Now, I am settled in and don't know what to expect here. Do I keep refreshing this screen or how does this work? Thanks!!

palofmine Posted July 11, 2013 #144 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Cant do 12 day if people are going to bermuda on it tomorrow. its more of a media relations safety, we are ok kinda cruise. Butter up everyone after the fire, before the cruise starts tomorrow for Bermuda. You just go up and down the chesapeake. Kinda like a tour boat. they get free drinks, and tastings. A 12 HOUR cruise ??? Never heard of such a thing, thought I had read wrong, thought 12 day. Where can one go in 12 hours? I'm confused.
Rare Radio Posted July 11, 2013 Author #145 Share Posted July 11, 2013 Hello everyone ! I think I have the server working now. . . Whew! I am very happy to be onboard. Our Muster drill was at 4:45PM, and the Daily Planner says that Sail Away is scheduled for 5:30. The Captain suggested we would be sailing down to the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay before we start heading north. . . There are 2 dinner seating times tonight at 630 and 9PM. We were just told that Casino Royale will be opening tonight. (That makes Radio very happy). The will be a Centrum WOW show tonight at 7 and 830PM. There will be just one show in the Palladium Theater (Mo5aic). I have never seen the Bars onboard so busy ! Passengers are 3 deep, and the Bar staff are working very hard . . .It is very nice that RCI is offering these extras, and they seem really happy to be meeting all of the Travel partners on board tonight. We left the pier at 5:30PM, and navigated through the harbor slowly . . . there were several tugs moving around some freighters. We should be passing under the Key Bridge before 7PM. Here are a few pics of my arrival today. .More pics later ! Thanks for all of the nice comments. . . Radio Good Morning Grandeur of the Seas . . .Welcome Home ! Cruise Maryland terminal was nearly empty at 12 Noon I made it on board early and checked out my inside cabin on Deck 8 (Port side) This is cozy, and will work (for 1 night) I love the Solarium There were not many people up on the Pool Deck when I boarded . Radio, Sounds like you are going to be very busy for the next 12 hours. WJZ reported that 78 cabins were not ready yet. I find this hard to believe. Any news on that? Your pictures are awesome and can't wait to see more. Was this cruise complimentary? I don't imagine I'm the only one who would like to know. Thanks for doing this.
