bhopal21 Posted January 16, 2014 #76 Share Posted January 16, 2014 I know you did not order them, but in a suite can't you order free canapes every evening? Yes, they are delivered daily at a time you specify and usually if you don't select anything they will default to the chocolate dipped strawberries. Mike:)
Pia1913 Posted January 16, 2014 Author #77 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Good Morning from Grand Turk where we visited only three weeks ago. Needless to say we will be staying aboard to spend a relaxing day of doing nothing but eating and reading. And perhaps some trivia thrown in for good measure. We had a great Crown Grill dinner last night, followed by seeing Broadway Ballroom again. This time however we sat in the 2nd row (got there late) and enjoyed it from a different perspective. Very interesting being up close to the stage. You can really appreciate how hard those entertainers work. Afterwards a quickie visit to the casino; took a few bucks out of there this time. Nothing at all happening on board all day unless you count the movie Way Way Back in the theater. Even MUTS is quiet. Tonight also nothing but a magician doing two shows in the theater and the Ultimate Deck Party at 9:30. We have the most traveled cocktail party at 7:30 and then off to the cabin to watch a movie. Someone asked about strawberries. They sent them automatically because of the suite, but we could have ordered them because of being Elite. We usually don’t since then I have to eat them. Poor me. They also sent a corsage for me and boutonniere for Mike. Red roses. We didn’t wear them. Sali: no choir, and pretty funny about the Coral :D Bill: why would I want those yucky, soggy things? Off to breakfast and my Americanos. Need to enjoy them while they're free. :p
Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted January 16, 2014 #78 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Pia, how are the seas? Another cold front has come through Florida and it's chilly here in Florida.
capriccio Posted January 16, 2014 #79 Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I know you did not order them, but in a suite can't you order free canapes every evening? Yes. The steward leaves you the canape menu daily. You order 6 items. I personally like the little marscapone cream puffs but DH likes the strawberries so we usually ask for 3 of each. cubfan63 Posted January 16, 2014 #80 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Yes. The steward leaves you the canape menu daily. You order 6 items. I personally like the little marscapone cream puffs but DH likes the strawberries so we usually ask for 3 of each. Although the chocolate-covered strawberries are nice, I also prefer those marscapone cream puffs from the suite canapé daily menu. I found that even though I ordered canapés from the suite menu, on the formal nights I also got additional treats in a full suite. For a 7 day cruise, the first formal night was the strawberries and the 2nd was some chocolates. There is a mention of this benefit in the suite benefits flyer as part of the formal night enhancements for full suites. http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/ships/PrincessSuite_eFlyer.pdf
Liz54 Posted January 16, 2014 #81 Share Posted January 16, 2014 We were upgraded to a suite once and got corsages and boutonnières. Gave them to some kids who were dressed up for formal night. They were thrilled! Hated to throw them out so we were delighted to recycle. I wonder how many people actually wear them?
seabum Posted January 16, 2014 #82 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks for the info on the strawberries - we love them with some champagne. Rarely get them shoreside as to keep it a special treat. We'll look for you at trivia next week - I love to play - and it always cracks me up how serious some of the players can get - all over a little trinket. Thanks again
Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted January 16, 2014 #83 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Pia, sorry another question. Can you confirm that the dress guidelines for dinner is still relaxed and that men are wearing shorts to dinner? Would love to have my husband be able to wear his golf shorts and a nice button down shirt.

WendyG Posted January 16, 2014 #89 Share Posted January 16, 2014 It will be 36 in Fort Lauderdale tonight, almost unheard of! I can't remember the last time it got THAT cold, but I love having the windows open and fresh air going thru (no matter how cold!) The ac will be on soon enough... A girlfriend and I were in a suite on the Ruby in Sept and formal night came with the corsages. Our room steward made them into bracelets for us and we wore them :) only because they were there. Sort of like Pia eating her chocolate covered strawberries, cause they were there! :D
Hooley Posted January 16, 2014 #90 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Just noticed you are from Pawleys Island. We lived there 8 years and still visit several times a year. We lived in Heritage. Have fun on your cruise. We love the Ruby. We're originally from this area. When I retire, we moved back after a 27 year absence. We love it!! I'm sure we'll enjoy the cruise. Enjoy your next visit to Pawleys.

san diego sue Posted January 17, 2014 #93 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Hi Pia, For Lew and I the "Suite Life" is over. Got home this morning from the Sapphire. It is weird that the the specialty restaurant is no longer offered first night for Suite passengers on your Ruby cruise. We got it on the Sapphire and ours was only a 3 day cruise. By the way the cruise credit for the cruise showed up in our personalizer on day 2. You are now officially spoiled Suite passengers.Us too. I totally agree. 30's here tonight too. My windows and doors were open all day and I was in a sweatsuit. :) Going to be too cold tonight to sleep with them open, but we did last night :D

Pia1913 Posted January 17, 2014 Author #99 Share Posted January 17, 2014 It’s Friday, a sea day and the cruise is almost over. Weather has been great all the way and today looks like it will be more of the same. These short cruises go by so quickly, but we are happy that we still have another and won’t have to vacate tomorrow. Then again, we will. Out of our suite and into a balcony. Boo hoo. Nice while it lasted. :) Last night’s cocktail party was extremely upscale; they did an outstanding job. It’s been a very long time since we’ve had a party instead of a lunch and this party was superb. So many different hors d’oeuvres asmany drinks of your choice that you could handle. I was happy with my frozen margarita, a huge one. So what’s happening this morning? 1. MUTS movie: Big 2. The Outlet Sale. Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh 3. Culinary demonstration in the theater 4. Bingo 5. Trivia 6. Pub lunch Afternoon has wine tasting (we’re going), more bingo of course, more art of course, horse racing, and Hitch on MUTS. Tonight the Platinum and Elite parties (two of them; one at 5:00, the other at 7:30) World War Z on MUTS and Colors of the World production show. We are not planning to see the show; have already seen it twice in the past month and once before that. Donna: they stopped the unlimited internet for suites quite some time ago. Internet per se’: Awful here; very slow. Quite different than when we were on Christmas. I wonder what happened. Also, the very friendly (NOT!!!) internet guy said no minutes can carry over for the next cruise. Gloria: since you mentioned the credits being in your account the 2nd day, I just looked. Woo Hoo………… lots of bucks showing. The entire cruise amount for this one is already there. How exciting! Mike: no free dinner first night for suites on this cruise; she said under six days doesn't get it. West coast cruises being handled differently. Breakfast time. See ya.......... WendyG Posted January 17, 2014 #100 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Assuming I get my suite assignment in the next six days, I was wondering....who did you ask about the specialty dinner? I plan to just call from the suite and make reservations at crown and see if they say anything. I'll pay if I have to but we like crown on day 1 either way. :) nice way to start a cruise. Also, when you leave your suite tomorrow do you mind sharing what cabin you had? I'm curious if you're on riviera and if pool noise was an issue. Also since you've traveled so much, have you ever had a guarantee that stayed that way until embarkation day? I've never had this happen, just curious if this is more common than not. Especially a suite when there are only 28 cabins. Hi Gloria! Glad you and Lew enjoyed the suite life. :) Enjoy your last day Pia and get ready for part 2. :D and be prepared for the cold. 45 this am..... PS:I would go over internet guys head and get your rollover minutes. That's just not right!
