New RCL MDR Menu

 Share

Recommended Posts

I just saw a post where it was stated that RCL recently changed all MDR menus and the food quality and quanity has really suffered. Going on Allure next week. Can anyone comment on this? Note that change was very recent so experience in the past means nothing. Thanks.

I agree that there is no very recent change. I have enjoyed the 'new' menus since they came out, both the 7 night menu and 14 night. Some are outstanding, some are good but both myself and DH have enjoyed every meal.

There are a number of items available every day- a steak, chicken breast or pasta - so they are good backups if there is nothing catching your eye from that night's selection.

As i said I saw a post which indicated a recent change. We were on Allure last year and were very satisfied. Best lobster tails I had in several years. Glad to hear that there were no recent changes.

I saw a post that seemed to imply there was a very recent change as well. Not just in the menu but in quality of the food as well. We experienced the new menu changes made a year ago and honestly were not very excited about them. I was hoping things didn't get even worse. I might have to start believing the conspiracy theory that the cruise line is trying to push people into specialty dining by offering mediocre food in the regular venues.

I have only been cruising for 17 years and food quality in the MDR has been on a downward spiral for most of those years on all mass market cruise lines. You know its bad when your waiter tells you not to order the steaks. Absolutely no doubt that all cruise lines are pushing people to eat in the specialty restaurants. They keep adding more cheap pasta, chicken and watery frozen fish entrees in the name of healthy eating. For the lousy 7 days I spend on a ship, give me prime rib, juicy steaks, rack of lamb and cholesterol filled seafood. Celebrity actually makes a big deal about a meatball entree.

Here's a shocker: Not everyone considers prime rib & steak to be the epitome of fine dining.
