Unlimited WiFi Plan expansion

I see that the unlimited wifi plan has expanded from Oasis and Allure to Navigator. Has anyone heard whether that expansion will continue to other ships?

 

Prior to our cruise last year on Legend I conversed with the Miami office about an unlimited package on there since the wifi system had already been upgraded. I was told at the time there were still working out how to bill for the unlimited and it was not the wifi system that was the deterrent. They were nice enough to work out some alternatives that made my live reporting for 15 days less painful.

 

Was hoping to see a broader roll out by September when we embark on Rhapsody. Make live reporting to Hawaii a lot easier. :D

I would be interested in hearing any feedback on this as well. I did inquire on Indy if they had any plans to move other ships in the fleet to unlimited wifi packages, and was told it was limited to Allure and Oasis--no plans to expand to other ships in the short term. However, I also just read they are now offering it on Navigator.

 

The per minute package packages are outrageously priced in my opinion, particularly for as slow as it is. I went through several on our Indy cruise :mad:

We were on the Noro cruise on Explorer, an the last 2 days had free internet. It was a real challenge getting connected, and the overload on the system really slowed it down. While paying for ulimited access would help reduce he number of users, I don't believe the system as it stands now can support it.

I was also on the Brilliance repo cruise late last year, with its pervasive wifi . So , while i could connect in the stateroom, the system was the slowest I have seen in a long time. I think there needs to be a serious upgrade of the servers for a usable system. I would thing twice abut paying for unlimited access , given how frustrating it is to use.

It will be interesting to see how the system works on Navigator.

When we were on Legend which had just been upgraded earlier in the year the wifi worked as well as it did when we were on Allure. Just paid by the minute :(

 

Not surprising Explorer worked that poorly as the wifi systems on there have not been upgraded.

System is working quite well on navigator so far. I haven't done a test with FaceTime or Netflix (was able to use both on allure). Speeds are ok...some lag with web pages loading and with my duolingo app (can't use the microphone feature).

Just got off the phone with RCCL. The gentleman indicated that the unlimited wifi plan has not been rolled out to the Navigator. Trying to confirm if anyone has experienced it on the Navigator, and what the price was. He told me the max package is 1666 minutes for 399.95.

The person posting just before you is on Navigator right now and has the unlimited. You should know by now that half the call takers at RCCL don't know what the company has to offer, :p

I did the Independence of the Seas a week ago for 8 days. The unlimited packages were available for $189 (one device), $229 (two devices). They also had other plans for 1 day, 3 days and per minute packages. Connection was ok for regular browsing.

 

Does anyone know if the Adventure of the Seas has unlimited wifi?

Just got off Liberty of the Seas and they had an unlimited package for $99 for one device and $129 for 2 devices...they also had plans for 1 day, plans for 60mins for the whole trip, and more but I can't remember the rest...

Somehere around $180 per week for one device. There are still C&A coupons for the internet, and you can use any device with WiFi.

Yes, you are correct. However, the provider has had some technical issues that have delayed the deployment. No word on the estimated implementation date.

The gentleman you just spoke with was misinformed!:rolleyes: I was on the Navigator 2 weeks ago. The new system is a HUGE improvement! Unlimited wifi was available...it was either $179 or $189 (I can't remember) for a single device, or $229 for multiple devices at the same time.

Great to hear. I am so hoping that Rhapsody will offer the unlimited on our cruise to Hawaii in September. Makes a live report sooo much easier. Hoping to add some video to the live report with the new GoPro camera I bought. [emoji2]

The ship's WiFi works with iPads and iPhones too.

The last ship I was on that had unlimited was Allure. I usually just kept my Droid phone connected to the wifi and when I needed it for the netbook I would just tether my phone to it. That saved me from logging on and off and it charged my phone while I was using the netbook. :)
