Last minute deals?

Just wondering if anyone knows of any last minute deals for Alaska? We have no clue about Alaska, but everyone says it's a great cruise. My husband also wants to fly fish there. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Halo

I can tell you for a fact that there are NO last minute deals in Alaska for 2005. I search the cruise lines hourly looking for cancellations for clients but when I find one they are offered at big prices.

Fly fishing in Alaska: Does he want to catch a certain species of salmon (5 in all) or maybe Dolly Varden, Rainbow Trout, or Arctic Grayling? There is a tremendous variety available. If there is a certain species desired then we have to plan around a time when that fish is in season or in the case of salmon...running. Alaska regulates the rivers and the type of fishing you can do, either catch or catch and release only.

It's a big deal in Alaska. Find a destination specialist to help you. :)

There were a lot of great last-minute deals for cruises in late May and early June--such as under $400 pp. The best prices I see now are $699 pp for inside cabins on the Sapphire Princess for September cruises rountrip from Seattle and $599 pp for inside cabins on a southbound cruise on the Dawn Princess.

I would try on of the "last minute" web agencies. We went in late June, seven day, on HAL for well under $400 per person. It was all set up less than 3 weeks ahead. Of course the flight from the east coast to Anchorage was a lot more than the cruise. You might have luck with after Labor Day.

Sourdough Steve, are people getting upgrades this summer? We booked 1/1/05 for August and no upgrades are priced reductions.

Wow, not this year. The ships are truley FULL. We keep looking everyday for folks that thought they would wait until the last minute and get a Deal. It ain't happening this year. There were some deals in the early season but now you're lucky to find a cabin at any price.

2006 is shaping up to be the same so if you're 'waiting' DON'T. Cruise/Tours are going to be even worse.

Lots of last minute specials for September in our local paper and in email notifications from online agencies (not allowed to name). if you are flexible as to week and not "set" on shipboard accommodations, they are there... AND several airlines have fare sales going now..

There are a LOT of cruise-tour busses running 1/3 full right now - the drivers are very upset because tips are dismal.
