Luggage Tags?

Leaving in 7 weeks on the Freedom.

 

When you print out your luggage tags, does it need to be in color or is black & white ok?

 

Also, do people laminate them or put them in a holder of some sort or just attach them to luggage as-is?

 

We just got our "documents" and are starting to get our "list" of things together.

I've printed mine in black and white a couple of times, then a C & A rep told me to make sure they're colored. Because they're color coded to the part of the ship depending on location of your cabin. With all the bags they have to sort through, it's a good idea to make it as easy as possible for them. Now I get my TA to print them in color. Looks a lot better than my crayola coloring.

 

Cruise critic sells some luggage tag holders. If you plan to cruise outside the Royal Caribbean line, be sure to get the wider holders. But you'll need to tape them closed for Royal tags since they can slip out.

we always print outs off on our e docs and yes we print them in color. We bought the luggage tags off Cruise Critic last year and we will reuse them again this year. They look pretty sharpe

I print mine in color. Then I buy clear packing tape, after I fold to the tag shape I put the tape on front and back so it's durable and then staple it around the handle. Never had one come back even slightly damaged so it works pretty well. Also makes it waterproof in case it's raining or someone spills something on it.

These are great. We not only use them for embarkation tags but also for the debarkation tags. Tags can not come dislodged and our luggage is always where it's supposed to in the terminal.

We bought some nice, heavy duty clear plastic holders at AAA that fit perfectly. At the same time we bought an RFID safe envelope for our passports as well as small ones (RFID safe) that are credit card size.

I don't think all of them together were over $10 total.:)

You will be fine with blank and white tags. Or have the porters make up tags for you when you arrive at the terminal.

These are the ones we use as well. I print my own luggage tags in color and they fit very snugly inside. The tip about using them for debarkation is a good idea too which I will definitely be using when we get off the Serenade May 2nd!

I saw a video posted in cruise critic of a funny old guy making luggage tags with tape. That's what I use and the porter is always impressed of how secure my tags are.

You can print in black and white.

 

The color really does not matter as the tags at the pier are not colored.

 

Never had a problem receiving my bags.

The colors on the tag represent a section of the ship, but if RCI thought they were important they would still be mailing luggage tags. The tags used by the porters are all one color, and they write a barely legible cabin number. Somehow your bags make it to your cabin. Once they go on the rack, they make it to the ship. Color may make some small difference in when you get your bags, but who knows?

 

Having a name tag on your luggage may save you some grief if your luggage tag abandons your bag. Otherwise you may end up having to retrieve your bag.

So just confirming (sorry if I missed this in the thread), RCI no longer mails us luggage tags, the kind with adhesive that wraps around the handle of your luggage. Is this true? We have to print our own luggage tags, or get them printed for us at the port?

Correct. The only exceptions are if you pay $35 for paper documents, are in a Grand Suite or better, or are Pinnacle level in Crown & Anchor.

I went to AAA and bought clear plastic cruise luggage tag holders. (if a member they're 2 for $3.49, if not a member then 2 for $5)

They work perfectly. I insert the cruise line luggage tag before we leave home then put them onto the luggage the morning of the cruise with the plastic loop attached to the tag holder. They're strong and easy to use and reuse.

Correct. However, the ones you can print out are just fine. You fold them up, wrap them around your luggage handle and staple the loose ends. I just borrow a stapler from the front desk of whatever hotel I stay at the night before. You do not want to put your cruise luggage tags on before your flight (the airline monkeys will tear them up).

Another suggestion that I saw here on CC - print the tags, fold as directed and then cover with clear packing tape. Hoe punch the ends and bring a twist tie with you. When you are ready to board, just attach with the twist tie and go have fun!! This eliminates the need to bring tape or borrow a stapler.

 

I haven't tried it yet - next cruise! I do print my own tags and cover them in tape. It has never been an issue.
