suite perks

Need an update on perks. Staying in haven do you still get 3 bottles and breakfast and lunch in Cagney's. Thanks:)

You may find this list that cruise critic member waldospepper has assembled to be very useful. Many thanks to waldospepper for all the hard work.

Here are a few tips to help you sort out the different types/levels of suites on NCL. Perks come with all full suite accommodations. Mini-suites do not fall into that category. Any stateroom category that starts with an "S" is considered a full suite.

1.) Some ships are equipped with a Haven, and some are not. Ships that are equipped with a Haven will have two levels of suite: Haven suites and non-Haven suites. Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a number. Non-Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a letter.

2) Haven suites have access to the Haven regardless of where they are situated on the ship. The Haven has its own pool, hot tub, sauna, and sundeck. Some Haven's also have a retractable roof over the central area.

3.) The Haven suites on Epic and the new-builds coming soon also have several other private areas as well.

4.) All suites have access to a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

5.) All suites have Butler and Concierge service.

6.) All suites receive invitations to a special cocktail reception with the Captain and other Officers.

7.) All suites receive priority embarkation and disembarkation, as well as priority tendering.

8.) All suites receive Sparkling Wine and fresh flowers in their suite, along with treats delivered daily by the Butler. (Note: Garden Villas, Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites receive Champagne instead of Sparkling Wine)

9.) Garden Villa's receive 6 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water, while Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites each receive 3 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water.

10.) All suites are provided with a variety of Elemis brand toiletries.

11.) All suites are equipped with a Coffee/Cappuccino/Espresso Machine (Most are Lavazza pod-style machines, except Jewel which has Senseo machines which grind/brew, and the Sun which has Lavazza machines in the Owner’s Suites, but drip-style coffee brewers in all other suites.

12.) All suites have access to the Pre-Cruise Concierge service, which helps to coordinate your individual selections on pillow types, coffee and tea preferences, and a variety of special requests.

13.) All suites (except the new suites on Deck 12 of the Star) have a portable phone which can be used throughout the ship.

14.) All suites are equipped with the "Bliss Bed" which truly lives up to its name.

15 All suites have an expanded Room Service menu.

Correction: Only Deluxe Owner and Villa Suites come with 3 bottles of alcohol. All full suites come with champagne (DOS, OS or Villa) or sparkling wine (all other suites)

Completely wrong.

Garden Villa Suites H1 receive 6 bottles of liquor.

All Owner Suites, H2, H3, receive 3 bottles of liquor.

Lower lever Villa Suites, such as H4, (Haven 2-Br Family Villa with Balcony) receive no bottle of liquor.

You may find this list that cruise critic member waldospepper has assembled to be very useful. Many thanks to waldospepper for all the hard work.

I'm glad you found the list to be helpful. Be advised this is a very outdated version, though. I've since made a number of changes to it, and it still needs more tweaking. I'll have an updated version as soon as I get time, and will publish it then. Meanwhile, I have just commented on another thread and posted the current version for anyone interested.

Here another list of suite perks compiled by Waldos Pepper:

Thanks for the credit on this second list, but this is definitely not my work. I'm not sure who originally published it, but it's extremely old and quite out-of-date.

Does any one know if they still offer the personal escort to the stateroom on the Pearl? When we were on the Star in 2009 we received this perk. Then when we were on the Star in 2010 we did not get this perk and was told we could not even get into our suite early, that we had to wait until our floor was called which was after 2:00 pm. Then on the Star in 2011 the suite passengers were held in a room and by the time we were allowed to board the other passengers were already boarding and we boarded with them. Right now we are trying to decide if we want to book a suite on the Pearl there is still one SE left. We like the early embarkation but only if we are allowed to go to our cabin and drop our bags off. Wish we could afford the Haven but a regular suite will have to do for now. Thanks for any information.

In my experience, we board early, and go to Cagney's for lunch -- we were able to drop our carry on with everyone else's. There was no offer to go directly to the suite last time we sailed...however, we boarded early, and its understandable that the rooms aren't ready (yes, even suites) and pax mucking about with their personal belongings will only slow things down (sounds reasonable, right?).

Generally speaking, people tend to report a wide variety of experiences with the suite perks - (some even on the same cruise). Some board early, some board late, some board with the first main group...all likely because of the dynamics present on turnaround day week-to-week -- and perhaps whether or not some schmucks really tore the crap out of your suite.

All that being said, if you'd like a personal escort to the suite, just ask the concierge. They will do everything within their power to accommodate your wishes.

Thank you for the response. We don't necessarily want or need a personal escort to our cabin was just wondering since it was listed as a perk of the suites and was done for suite passengers in the past if it was still being done. When that was available the suites were a priority of being cleaned, since suite passengers are paying a lot more money for their cabins they were able to get in them and start enjoying what they were paying for, sounds like that is not the case any more. The Cagney's perk doesn't really interest us, we don't use it. We also don't use the concierge, they are usually to busy taking care of the people in the Garden Villas and Deluxe Owners Suites. We pay the extra money for the suite to have the extra room and more choices for room service and to be able to access our suite as soon as possible. So now we just need to decide if the extra room is worth the $2,000 more for the week that they are asking for the suite. We've never cruised in anything but suite so it may be hard to cruise in a balcony cabin without the extra room.

By the same token of you paying more for your suite, so you should have access to it, is the guy who was in it the week before, wanting to enjoy it until the last minute. If they don't clear out of there until 10:00 AM, and you want in at 11:00, that's not going to happen. Your cabin steward still has several suites to look after and turn over, and they already have a very short turnaround. If you arrive at the pier at 1:30, you will likely be escorted directly to your suite. If you arrive at 11:30, they will escort you to Cagney's to enjoy your lunch and give the staff the time they need to turnover all of the suites that they are responsible for.

I've never had an issue with the Concierge only looking after the GV and Owner's Suite guests, these people make up a very small percentage of who they are working for. It's your choice not to use their services, but if there's something that they can help to make your cruise better, that's what they are there for.

They will TRY to escort you but in all reality, they do not have enough staff if lots of people show up at once.

Also, in all reality, even if they say you can not go to your room, you usually can and drop stuff off.

But - the last time two times, we just took our carry on bags with us straight to Cagneys, had lunch and then went to the cabin.

I agree with Triptolemus, if arrive and board early chances are the suites won't be ready. Also, the concierge has always been available and very attentive in our experience, and we've always booked lower level suites (not even Haven suites)

Hello WaldosPepper,

The suite perks list is impressive and thank you! We are taking my father through the Panama Canal on the NCL Star and have a Suite class = SJ. Will you be posting an updated suite perks list soon? thanks so much!

The Owner's Suite still gets 3 one litre bottles of booze. I was just in the OS on the Sky this past weekend and they gave us 3 litres for a 3 day cruise. Needless to say, we left a lot behind.

Left a lot behind?! Pack it & bring it home!

Hello WaldosPepper,

The suite perks list is impressive and thank you! We are taking my father through the Panama Canal on the NCL Star and have a Suite class = SJ. Will you be posting an updated suite perks list soon? thanks so much!

Ask, and ye shall receive...

Suite categories are designated by the letter “H” (Haven suites) or letter “S” (Non-Haven suites). Stateroom categories not beginning with the letters H or S do not receive perks.

Some ships have S categories only: Sky, Spirit, Sun, Dawn, Star, and Pride of America

Some ships have S & H categories: Jewel, Pearl, Gem and Jade

Some ships have H categories only: Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape & Bliss

• Haven suites have access to the Haven regardless of where they are situated on the ship. The Haven has its own pool, hot tub, sauna, and sundeck. Some have their own restaurant and bar within the Haven complex. Some Havens also have a retractable roof over the central area. Haven configuration varies based on ship class/generation

• All suites have complimentary access to a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch. On “Haven Only” ships Haven Suites have a private restaurant for all three meals.

• All suites have Butler and Concierge service.

The Concierge can assist with dining reservations, shore excursion booking and guidance in

many other areas. He or she also provides delivery of invitations and information to the suite, and

performs all escorts on and off the ship.

The Butler provides delivery of daily amenities, meals en suite, replenishes coffee and other

supplies, and oversees the maintenance of the suite. Gratuity should be based upon services

provided.

• All suites receive invitations to a special cocktail reception with the Captain and other Officers.

• All suites receive priority embarkation {including express through check-in, as well as a private lounge with various amenities to enjoy while awaiting escort aboard} and disembarkation {which includes a private area to gather, and escort off the ship & directly to the VIP Luggage area and Porter Services}, as well as priority tendering.

• All suites receive one bottle of Sparkling Wine, one large bottle of water, a bowl of fresh fruit (replenished upon consumption) and a fresh flower arrangement in their suite. (Note: Garden Villas, Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites receive Champagne instead of Sparkling Wine)

• Garden Villa's receive 6 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water, while Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites each receive 3 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water. All other categories do not receive complimentary liquor.

• All suites are provided with a variety of Elemis brand toiletries.

• All suites are equipped with a Coffee/Cappuccino/Espresso Machine (Most are Lavazza pod-style machines), however the Sun has Lavazza machines in the Owner’s Suites, but drip-style coffee brewers in all other suites (because these suites cannot accommodate Lavazza devices).

• All suites have access to the Pre-Cruise Concierge service, which helps to coordinate your individual selections on pillow types, coffee and tea preferences, and a variety of special requests. Phone number for this service is 855-625-4283.

• All suites (except the SG and SJ suites on Deck 12 of the Star and some suites on the Sun) have a portable phone, which can be used throughout the ship.

• All suites are equipped with the "Bliss Bed" which truly lives up to its name, fitted with upgraded bedding. Also provided with upgraded bathrobes, as well as slippers.

• All suites have an expanded Room Service menu. Essentially, order whatever you want, and if it is available on the ship you will have it.

• Some suites have access to a reserved section of the theater on some ships, based upon stateroom category, as well as other factors, which can vary from sailing to sailing.
