Your onboard lounge benefits just got better

Recommended Posts

Just returned from a 10-day to the E. Caribbean aboard the Liberty and the DL is still holding steady along with the 3-drink comp at any of the other lounges. There were some folks concerned the DL would further restrict its members to just D+ & Platinum with this policy but so far, so good. By 5:10 PM, there wasn't a seat to be had on several nights, substantiating the need for other venues...a welcome and necessary policy shift. What we did see fairly often were less-than-happy loyal cruisers asking for drinks other than the listed ones. They wanted RCI to allow their top-tier cruisers to have what they'd like. Overall, it's a very welcome addition to the perks and allows one the flexibility to have drinks with family/friends just about anywhere they'd like :)

We are not big drinkers but when on a cruise I do enjoy a Fru Fru frozen drink. We are diamond and our last couple of cruises as such we didn't really take advantage of the Diamond lounge happy hour because we had friends with us who were no in the club. Anyways were going on the Indy this October and with the new vouchers, there's a possibility that we may take advantage of some free drinks. With the limited drink menu what fruity or Fru Fru concoctions can I request? I was thinking of a White Russian...and someone had mentioned a rum and pineapple juice, that sounds pretty good...What else?

I've always been able to get cosmopolitans with the diamond drink vouchers.
One of the biggest changes was expanding the casino and changing all the green felt on the tables to red. They also added a high end watch store where the bar was in the promenade, and redid a lot of the stores. This all happened on the Barcelona to Dubai leg.

Even before they left Galveston the crew included lots of new Chinese workers. We had a Chinese girl as our waiter and a Chinese guy as the Assistant. It was a very unpleasant experience as neither of them understood anything we said and they both spoke very little English. The concept of service was clearly alien to them. It was painful to watch them make umpteen trips to the kitchen because they failed to get all the dishes for each course the first try. We ended up eating 5 of the nights in Chops and Giovanni's Table. It was an especially big problem for us because we are gluten free and they had totally no clue. I was surprised neither the Head Waiter nor Maitre'D helped sort things out.
I have cruises on both Navigator and Oasis coming up and I have not received an email about this.
I'm guessing that the benefit is not considered "new" anymore, so they probably have stopped sending those emails.

Bob is right. You may not have realized that someone resurrected a year old post.

I realized that after I posted. We probably had that perk on our B2B on Serenade earlier this year but didn't use it. We enjoyed the DL every night.

I see you are from Wichita Falls. I was born and raised there and my wife is from Quanah.

On Indy I was told "no" in Bolero's but had no trouble getting cosmos in the Schooner Bar. I took the time to walk back through Bolero's with my cosmo and give the bar tender a wave.

Well... since someone did bring this back to the top...

I have not sailed with Royal Caribbean in a couple of years. For our Freedom sailing in August, am I to assume that in addition to the free evening drinks in the Concierge Lounge (we'll be in a GS) that there will also be free drinks somehow loaded onto our ship card? We're Diamond thanks to our status w/Celebrity.

Thanks,

Tom

Since you are Diamond, the answer is "yes". If you were lower than Diamond and sailing in a GS, you would NOT have the vouchers, just access to the Concierge Lounge.

You will be able to go to the Diamond Lounge on Deck 14, the Concierge Lounge on Deck 10, or use your three daily vouchers in any BAR. (not valid in restaurants, including the MDR, the WJ and specialty restaurants) (some other bars will say "no". Just smile and keep on walking. :D )

Here are the hours and the "eligible" booze. No blender or frou-frou drinks.

The voucher that are loaded on your sea pass card are only good during the nightly cocktail hours. The hours on some ships are 5:00 to 8:30 while on others they are 4:30 to 8:00.
