Is OASIS moving to Port Canaveral?

Recommended Posts

Last week when we were on FOS, someone asked captain Thor this and he said the port is not big enough to accommodate Oasis. However, they are building a new pier/port right now and he said in a few years it will be able to accommodate a ship the size of Oasis and Allure. We could see tons of construction all around us as we were setting sail.

They are building a new pier. The new parking garage is already up. We go to the beach near by and there is always lots of activity.

I hope one if the new oasis class ships come to port canaveral. A 45 minute drive is a lot better than 3 or more hours.

Maybe when oasis 3 comes out?

Maybe ... unless one of them goes to China.

Just think of how many more casino games there will be when Royal converts the ice rink!

Don't say that!! If any more RC ships wind up over there, they will have to rename the company to Royal Orient International. Then the only time the Caribbean will be mentioned is in the company history noting that is where they first started sailing:eek::eek::D!!

The new terminal 1 designed to be able to handle Oasis class is well under construction and being built partially with Royal Caribbean money. It will be done by the end of the year.

The channel is currently being deepened and widened to accommodate Oasis class vessels.

The port will be ready for Oasis class. All that's needed is an official announcement from Royal Caribbean when the 2016 deployment schedule is released.

Things can always change, though. Anthem was supposed to winter in Port Everglades and Quantum was supposed to be in New York all year... until they decided to send Quantum to China.

We are sailing on EX on 12-4-2014. I called the port and they told me that that they are shooting for a Nov. 15, 2014 opening of Terminal 1 -- coincides with First EX cruise. He also told me that they will be able to check in 4,000 -6,000 people and that the garage will have 1,000 spaces so there is a good possibility that a larger ship will come to Port C.

I was told a couple weeks ago by a RCI employee in the terminal that when Terminal 1 opens, all the Royal ships ported in Canaveral will be going out of it. In the event of multiple Royal ships being ported on one day, they'd still utilize the current Terminal 10

Wonder if any other cruise lines will come to Port C or if RCI will schedule 2 ships in a day out of our favorite port.

While continuing to use Terminal 10, Royal will pay $48 million over the next 10 years to be the priority berth user of Terminal 1.

Something big must be in the plans.

That sounds like maybe two ships out of Port C on weekends. EX from 11-2014 through 3-2015 is selling very well. Different itineraries -- we are sailing to the ABC islands on 12-4-2014.

I certainly hope all the talk about something bigger coming to PC will come true. Possibly the Explorer's short term deployment will show Royal that the area can support more than the two present ships. However, let's hope this new facility is not a "build it and they will come" project such as the facility in Houston. That albatross sat empty for a number of years until they practically let Princess use it gratis.

Although nothing official has come from Royal Caribbean yet on which ships will sail from Port Canaveral in the future, I think it would be a fairly safe bet that with the amount of money Royal Caribbean is sinking into the new terminal we may see an Oasis Class ship there around 2016.

Hope they don't take FOS away :D

Wouldn't you want a new ship to sail? One of the things I don't like that royal does all too much is leave a ship to rot in a port for so long that people don't care to go anymore on t , freedom, adventure, majesty

As long as the ships continue to sail full (as they do) what incentive does RCI have to move them?
