Transfer to Rome airport

Yep, not a problem. We prefer to use a private transfer (Romecabs) rather they rely on the cruise line. So you need to figure about 1 hour to get from the port to FCO. Many of the flights that go directly from the US require a check-in at the remote Terminal 5, but not sure this would be an issue if flying to Canada. But if you would happen to be leaving from Terminal 5 you want to make sure your transfer company drops you at that terminal.

You should be at FCO by 8:30 (9 would likely be fine, but why take a chance) which means you want to leave the pier by about 7:30. We prefer to use Express debarkation where we carry off our own luggage, but you would probably be OK to let the cruise line take your luggage off the ship (just make sure you request a tag that allows you to retrieve your luggage by 7 or 7:15.

Unless some unusual hold-up happens, that should be fine. We used Bob's Limos for transfers with great results--I know Rome Cabs is good too. We had a group of six that got together on our roll call for the homeward ride; around $30pp.

Going to the cruise we used Bob's too and had a private car, senior price was around $80 (converting from Euros roughly.)

We have also used Bob's Limo several times and were very happy with the price, we used the shared shuttle and paid around $80 US for two.

Regarding the use of private transfers (which we recommend) it becomes much more economical of you can get 4,6 or even 8 to share the transfer. This can usually be accomplished by posting on your specific Roll Call board here on Cruise Critic. The last time we did a transfer from Civitavecchia to FCO we decided we wanted a group of 6 in a van that could hold 8 so we would have lots of room. So we posted on our Roll Call looking for 2 couples who wanted a 7:15 am transfer and had our two couples within an hour. On that trip we booked a van from Romecabs and the driver was waiting for us (with a sign) when we go off the ship a little after 7.

As mentioned by CruiserBruce and Hank I would book a private service such as one of the ones they mentioned. Don't wait. Some fill up quickly and have a limit as to how many they can handle.

And get there early because check in and security lines can be very long.

One more suggestion. This is a better question to ask before you book your flight rather than after you do. You are fine this time as long as you move quickly but if you weren't then you would have to determine if the flights could be changed and at what cost.

Have a great trip.

How do you not stay in Rome for at least 2-3 days afterward? It is the "eternal city."

We love Rome, but have already spent time there after a previous cruise. Sometimes we just don't have the extra time after a cruise, due to family or schedule issues.
