The first stage of the OPT upgrade is basically complete and apart from the luggage drop off still outside, up near the big tree, which is where it was for the "big"ships prior to the upgrade, everything is back to normal........ no.... It is actually better as the new " marshalling area, inside the the building, is air conditioned and has lots of space and provides a much more comfortable area for guests to wait till they go upstairs for check in.

The road closures along George Street are now over and there is no real access problem for vehicles dropping off apart from maybe the smaller drop off area which will remain until the end of Feb/March until stage two, the forcourt area, will be finished.

Thanks for the update.

Any idea if restaurants are going back in?

Thanks for the link, excellent news for Sydney, light rail to replace car traffic is the way forward.

I don't think that's in line with their thinking...

Their strategy continues to emphasise car traffic, though they're adding this as a mode as well.

Separately, you might be interested to know Celebrity have rolled out our boarding by level system on some US cruises.

Should have heard the squawking from some entitled types saying how they paid the fare so can rock on up whenever they like!

No. The restaunts went so we could get the space back for the upgrade so no room left for them..."it's a cruise terminal, not a restaurant zone:D The only space now available is where Doyle's used to be so possibly it will revert back to a restaurant but it will not be Doyle's or it may not be a restaurant at all and I believe The Cruise Bar will reopen in Feb/ March when the second stage is finished

Putting in light rail and blocking a portion of george street (to cars) is a step in the right direction though.:D

From cc RCI board, seems that RC are starting to introduce staggered boarding in US. Some have reported getting emails, texts etc advising them of their allocated boarding times (based on Deck) to ease congestion & the advice most are giving is to ignore that and turn up when they want - "IT'S YOUR VACATION"!:)

That sounds like a typical response for all those cruisers that only think of themselves and blow everyone else. And then they complain about the queues when they ignore the staggered times.:(

Yes, and one can only wonder about when they are boarding their flight to the port city. I guess when they announce they are boarding by row numbers, they just charge on in and block everyone trying to board as per the plan. :)

Come on Louise, hurry up, I am losing money here:D

Well, VIP's using Heathrow airport have a special terminal building ,'The Royal Suite" is Graham just being slack and making us mingle with the great unwashed ?? :)

I actually thought better in regards to the red carpet square , and have placed my order for a sedan chair carried by nubile young things....

Now has anyone who has just been on the Solstice tell me is "OLGA" still on board --in the dining room serving the pastries at breakfast time??

I have very fond memories of Olga :D

Regards

John

Hmm, not knowing if Olga is an ex Russian women's weight lifter or another "nubile young thing", leaves me wondering if this is funny or a bit creepy!

Sorry John. I have tried typing in my reply to all your VIP requests (that is Very Inconsequential Person ) but there must be something wrong with my keyboard because every time I try to type my answers to you the first word does not appear..... only the second word.... "OFF" Don't you hate it when modern technology lets you down.

Seriously though, I have managed to satisfy most of your requests, sorry no flagpoles and we do not have restrooms at the moment,(hope you have a strong bladder) but unfortunately all your "demands" come at a price and the only way to provide these "extras" was have your stateroom downgraded so you and all your group are now sharing cabins in the crew area, the food is not too bad down there and the bonus is they do not have formal nights so you will not have dress up for dinner. Unfortunately for you Olga has a bit too much class to be seen in the crew area so you may not get to see her again.:D

See ya next Tuesday............. I can hardly wait........ What time are you planning to check in?..just so I don't miss you.
